You’re invited to the celebration of the Easter Triduum! Today begins the holiest week of our church year, starting with the cele-bration of Palm Sunday, as we begin remembering Jesus’ triumphant en-trance into Jerusalem. The tone of our liturgy rapidly changes as the Pas-sion of our Lord Jesus is proclaimed. On Thursday evening, the Church begins the celebration of the Triduum. On Holy Thursday, we celebrate the Mass of the Lord’s Supper. We recall that it was at the Last Supper that Jesus instituted the Eucharist. However, the Gospel reading this night speaks not of the Eucharist, but of Jesus’ washing the feet of his disci-ples, showing us by his example what we are to do for each other. The Triduum continues on Good Friday. Once again, we hear another account of our Lord’s Passion. A time for each person to venerate or adore the cross is an im-portant part of the liturgy on this day. Our weekend Mass schedule is modified as we wait until sunset on Saturday to begin the celebration of the Easter Vigil. As we keep vigil this night, the night our Lord passed from death to life, we hear the stories from Scripture that tell of our salvation history. The celebration continues on Sunday as we gather once again to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, trusting that because of His great sacri-fice, we too, will one day rise to new life. If you have not attended the liturgies of the Triduum in the past, or if it’s been awhile, I encourage you to do so this year!

Stewardship of Talent

We are grateful for those who schedule the liturgical ministers in our cluster! In Walker, Kerry Peyton recently offered to take

over this responsibility from Cathey Frith. Cathey has

prepared the schedule for Sacred Heart for many years and we appreciate her time/talent in

doing so! Amy Katcher does the scheduling for St. Mary, Urbana. Meanwhile, Sue Keller prepares

the schedule for St. Mary, Vinton along with Carrie Weber who

took over the scheduling of altar servers from Teresa Stadelmann

earlier this year.

Stewardship Thought

Good stewards strive to conform their lives to that of Christ---

emptying themselves of all pride and

putting themselves at the service of others.

Religious Education Activities for Wednesday, March 14th In Vinton’s Fifth Grade Class, Linda Fischer had the students play a special Stations of the Cross BINGO game. Mrs. Fischer brought Easter colored M&M’s for the children to use to cover the squares.

Urbana’s Third Grade: † Regina Burke’s class was working on a new prayer and discussing how

they were doing on items they were giving up for Lent. † Lindsey Ford had Kelly Kress as a substitute. Kelly had the kids working in

their workbooks . The sub-ject was how Jesus revealed the Kingdom of God & how we can continue to serve God in all we do.

Urbana had music as well. K-4th grades are pictured here.

The Meg C. Dieter Scholarship

Hardship. It’s a word that has a lot of different meanings. One of the most overlooked hardships in students’ lives is often connected to the struggles of living in a single-parent home. It can happen through the unexpected loss of a parent or the difficult reality of divorce.

The Meg C. Dieter Scholarship fund was established in memory of a de-voted mom who raised her five children as a single parent. She worked hard to make sure that college was a possibility for her entire family. Meg also returned to school and was a college senior at the time of her unex-pected death in 1997.

The $500 scholarship is awarded to one high school senior from St. Mary Urbana who has experienced the challenges unique to a single-parent home. Students must have a 3.00 GPA and obtain letters of recommenda-tion from two teachers describing how they have been a positive influence in their high school. Qualifying students are encouraged to contact Marcia Reilly for more information and an application. Applications are due May 1, 2018.

Senior Rock Night -Open to ALL Senior Citizens! Sunday, April 22 from 2:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Center Point-Urbana High School Entertainment starts at 2:30 p.m. Dinner served at 3:30 p.m. To register: Call Cathy Fisher at 849-1102, ext. 1102 or e-mail

Help us build upon and promote a sense of community! We are looking for individuals who would be willing to help build/promote a sense of community within our parish/cluster. In parishes, this group of folks is known as the “Parish Life” committee. They assist the pastor/PLC in welcoming new members and fostering a sense of belong-ing among all parishioners. They would also oversee and invite others to take part in offering fun social events for people of all ages. Those involved in Parish Life understand and embrace that hospitality is essential to a vibrant parish community, and it is what we are called to do in a spirit of evangelization and stewardship. If interested in sharing your time and talent with our faith community in this way, please talk to Christine Kelchen, Danise Shannon, Margie Ort-giesen or Marcia Reilly.
