Drama Club
The Attleboro High School Drama Club will once
again be hosting the preliminary level of the Massa-
chusetts High School Drama Festival in the Robert H.
Bray Auditorium on Saturday, March 4, 2017. Along
with AHS, seven other schools, will perform short
plays throughout the day. One $10-ticket, available all
day, allows the bearer to see any or all of the plays.
The schedule of plays for this year's event is: 9:00 AM -- Franklin High School presents Gathering Blue
10:00 AM -- Rising Tide Charter Public School in Ply-
mouth presents L.I.O.N.H.E.A.R.T.
11:15 AM -- Sharon High School presents Tontlawald
12:15 PM -- Attleboro High School presents Baby
2:00 PM -- Notre Dame Academy in Hingham presents A
Wrinkle in Time
3:00 PM -- Mansfield High School presents Eurydice
4:30 PM -- Marian High School in Framingham presents
The Hamlet Thrill-ma-geddon
5:30 PM -- Arlington Catholic High School presents The
Green Child
Attleboro's show, Baby, tells the story of a baby learn-
ing to cope with the often silly antics of adults--cheek
pinching, trying to expand their vocabulary, pushing
them to start crawling, and so forth. And then Baby
starts fighting back!
At the end of the day, judges present All-Star Theatre
Company awards to students from all the productions
for their excellence in acting and/or technical work.
Also, three schools will be selected to advance to the
semi-finals on March 18. Attleboro has won this honor
in three out of the last four years, and six out of the
last ten. But more importantly, it is an exciting and
educational day for our students.
And while you're reading, save the dates April 8 & 9,
2017 when the drama club and music department will
present the musical Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka! It's
sure to be a scrumdiddilyumptios production! More
about that in the next issue.
News from the Guidance Department
Seniors: This is a busy time of year as seniors are hearing back
from colleges and finalizing their post-secondary
plans. We love to hear about acceptances and want to
help with additional options if needed. There are a
number of colleges that are still accepting applications
at this time. We are here to help!
Scholarships and financial aid should be a priority
at this time: Scholarship application packets are
available in all House Offices and
on the Balcony. Our web site also
has many additional scholarships
to consider. The majority of the
scholarships have an April 1 dead-
line, but seniors need to be aware that some have an
earlier deadline. Students should check each scholar-
ship individually for requirements such as a letter of
recommendation and a resume. Any member of the
Guidance Department can answer questions on the
process.
Highly Selective College Admission Panel:
We are excited to announce that college admission
officers from Harvard, Boston University and Bos-
ton College will be joining us to share advice on ap-
plying to highly selective colleges. The event will
take place on April 12 from 5:30-6:30 PM in Bray
Auditorium. This event is open to all families.
Junior Parent Night:
The Guidance Department will be hosting our annual
Junior Parent Night on March 1 at 6:30 PM in
Bray Auditorium. We will discuss post-secondary
planning for college, military and work and provide
information and a timeline on what our juniors should
be doing to prepare for the next step in their educa-
tional journey.
College 101:
College 101 will be presented on March 1 at 6:00 PM in B1 Cafeteria by local college admission of-ficers. This event is for 9th and 10th grade families. Families can register at the following ad-dress: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/college-101-attleboro-high-school-2017-tickets-31152498963

Alumni Day:
For the third year in a row the Guidance Department will be
hosting Alumni Day on June 9. We were so happy to have a
number of alumni help us with the event last year! We are
once again asking for volunteers to come back and share
their experiences with the current juniors. We are in the
process of creating an alumni database and with your help
we would like to make it as complete as possible. If your
son or daughter is a recent graduate, and is interested in at-
tending the event, please have them contact Julie Little at
[email protected] for further information.

TDA - Driver Education at Attleboro High School
Join the over 1000 families that choose Teachers Driv-
ing Academy as the driver education program for their
child. Quality classroom instruction and the conven-
ience of on-site classes make TDA the perfect choice!
Students aged 15 years, nine months and older are eli-
gible to take driver education classes. In order to earn
a driver’s education certificate, the state of Massachu-
setts requires students to take 30 hours of classroom
instruction, 12 hours of driving instruction, and six
hours of driving observation; parents must also take a
two hour parent class. Both the student and parent
classroom instruction will take place at the high
school; the driving instruction will take place off site.
See the schedule below for the remaining session
dates. The cost of the classroom instruction is
$80.00.
