Prestonpans Infant School Newsletter March 2014 On Thursday 6 March, children and staff can dress up as a character from a book. If that’s a bit tricky, it’s Elmer’s 25th birthday so you could celebrate with wearing very bright clothes. Each class will be read a story by a different teacher on Thursday. Don’t forget to ask your child who read to them. Don’t bring any money, this is to celebrate books. Each P1-3 child will get a free book that we have purchased with the World Book Day tokens. Thank you for donating 50ps for Purple Pinkie. We raised £95 and as £1 can buy 5 polio vaccinations, that means we saved 475 children from getting polio. Thanks to everyone who supported the Rotary Coffee Morning in the Town Hall too. Monday 10 March is Commonwealth Day. We invite everyone to wear trainers to school to show our support for an active and healthy lifestyle and the Glasgow 2012 Commonwealth Games. No money is re- quired. On that day, we will be looking for children’s suggestions of how we can learn about the Commonwealth Games and let the games impact on our health and fitness.

Prestonpans Infant School Newsletter

March 2014

On Thursday 6 March, children and staff can

dress up as a character from a book. If

that’s a bit tricky, it’s Elmer’s 25th birthday

so you could celebrate with wearing very

bright clothes. Each class will be read a

story by a different teacher on Thursday. Don’t forget to ask

your child who read to them. Don’t bring any money, this is to

celebrate books. Each P1-3 child will get a free book that we

have purchased with the World Book Day tokens.

Thank you for donating 50ps for Purple Pinkie. We

raised £95 and as £1 can buy 5 polio vaccinations, that

means we saved 475 children from getting polio. Thanks to

everyone who supported the Rotary Coffee Morning in the

Town Hall too.

Monday 10 March is Commonwealth Day.

We invite everyone to wear trainers to

school to show our support for an active

and healthy lifestyle and the Glasgow 2012

Commonwealth Games. No money is re-

quired. On that day, we will be looking for

children’s suggestions of how we can learn

about the Commonwealth Games and let the

games impact on our health and fitness.

Kittle Photography return on Wednesday 12 March to take

photos of our classes this year. So remember to brush the

hair and wear school uniform on that day especially. We will

send a text out to remind you the day before.

You and your family are needed on Saturday 8 March 2014 to

help plant trees at Cuthill Park. This is an important park for

the commuity so your support would be really appreciated.

Meet at Cuthill Park at 2pm, plant until 4pm.

Letters about Milk Money for the final term will be coming out

on Wednesday 12 March. All milk money should be paid be-

tween Thursday 13 March and Monday 24 March 2014. We

cannot accept money after that so don’t miss the dates. We

will send texts out to remind you.

Mums, aunties, grannies are all welcome to a Coffee Morning

on Friday 28 March at 8.45am. Christine Knox will again be

teaching our children to sooth their mums with a lovely wee

hand massage. We are very grateful to Christine for doing

this. So make sure you have the date in your diary.

Advance notice that there will be an Art/Craft Go Mad with

Dad event for dads/granddads/stepdads/uncles and their kids

in the Gothenburg Pub on Saturday 29.3.14 in the morning.

More information to follow.
