House Spirit saw students dressed and painted in red (Woods) and yellow (Read) in support of their house. House captains and senior students rallied their respective ‘troops’ for each event and cheered on vigorously. The quality of swimming and the competitive races were great to watch. We have many capable junior swimmers who hopefully next year will benefit enormously from being able to train in the new Tuapeka Aquatic Centre. Through-out the day many parents, grand parents and friends visited the pool adding their input and building the atmosphere. To all students who participated, good on you for braving the cold, well done on many personal best, thanks to our student helpers, well done to both houses. To the organisers and staff helpers well done and thank you. There was however a disappointing aspect that I addressed at this weeks senior assembly. There were a number of middle school and senior students who did not tur n up for this event. Personally I was not impre ssed by this - school spirit is very important - and I was not impressed with some of the lame excuses given. Parents you have a role to play in this. If your child was unable to swim we did have jobs for all to ensure participation and contribution. Year 12 Portobello Marine

    Centre Trip

On the 5th March the year 12

    Biology class travelled to

    Portobello Marine Centre for

    a day of learning based

    around ecology and

    adaptations of marine

animals. We had a fun filled

day and braved the cold to

    gather data for an

    assessment as well as getting

    our hands dirty dissecting

    sharks and crabs. We had

    lots of laughs and came

    home with a wealth of

    knowledge about marine life

    on the Otago peninsula.
