March 2012 – The Season of Lent Colleagues in the Ministry of Jesus Christ:

Gradually it was disclosed to me that the line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either, but right through every human heart, and through all human hearts. If only it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?

Alexander Solzhenitsyn. THE GULAG ARCHIPELIGO. In the shadow of the cross, I pray:

Lord, I want to be more holy in my heart. Here is the citadel of all my desiring,

Where my hopes are born And all the deep resolutions of my spirit take wings.

In this center, my fears are nourished, And all my hates are nurtured. Here my loves are cherished,

And all the deep hungers of my spirit are honored Without quivering and without shock.

In my heart, above all else, Let love and integrity envelop me

Until my love is perfected and the last vestige Of my desiring is no longer in conflict with thy Spirit.

Lord, I want to be more holy in my heart. Amen. Howard Thurman

Florida UMVIM

It’s that time of year when Churches begin to plan mission trips for the upcoming summer months. Our fellow conferences in the Southeast are still in need of recovery UMVIM teams. Please consider looking into one of

the Annual Conferences and their disaster link and make a trip to help out during this time of need. If you need help locating a place to serve, send me an email and I will get you connected. And speaking of disasters – I just returned from the SEJ Disaster Academy, and I hope your local church has a disaster plan in place and

ready to activate on very short notice. Preparation ahead of a disaster (when can) is one of the best measures a church can take. Take a look and make sure your disaster plan is ready!

Internationally – there are several trips open for individuals. Go to the following page on the Conference website to find out more www.flumc.org/umvim . I will be putting together a group email list to announce mission trips and other email, if you would like to be included in this group, please email me your request.

DLC Nurse & Learn News

We are supported by approximately 20 churches on a regular basis and receive donations from various agencies in the community. This year our goal is to raise awareness to continue to help families in need.

There are many ways in which you can help, including donating your time, talents and money. You can also “Adopt a Child” by personally donating to their care and therapy. Additionally, your Sunday school or church group could pool their resources. Each member can make a small donation each month to meet the goal of raising between $100-$500 to cover child care, nursing and therapies for one child. ($10 x 12 members x 12 months = a scholarship for one child for a year.)

We will share each child’s progress and achievements as well as photos and invite your group to special events. Please call Amy Buggle at (904) 387-0370 for more information on how to get involved.
