2 A Letter from the Auction ChairA Letter from the Auction Chair

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” - Helen Keller

Dear Anderson Friends,

Welcome to our 20th Annual Spring Auction, A Taste of New York’s Best!

As we gather together to celebrate Anderson’s momentous 20th annual event, I feel incredibly grateful. Grateful for the top-notch public education our children receive every day under the guidance of the best teachers and administration in New York City. Grateful to be a part of a strong and passionate community of parents who care deeply about education. Grateful for the behind-the-scenes parent volunteers who have dedicated their time and energy to make this night a success. And grateful to be a part of a team and an event that is truly special, an event that brings our unique five-borough community together as one to celebrate and support our remarkable school. Tonight is the night we can all make a difference. Our funding has been hit hard by City and State budget cuts beyond our control, but tonight we can ensure our kids will continue to have the essential programs and tools they need to succeed.

Special thanks to our restaurant and beverage sponsors providing tonight’s delicious food and drinks, the parents and teachers who helped to create the extraordinary class projects, and all of the donor businesses and parents who have contributed and solicited the exceptional array of donations this year. And to my family, David, Avery and Carson — thank you for your love and support.

On behalf of the entire Auction Team, we invite you to shop, eat, drink and have a blast. And most importantly — bid wildly for our kids!

All the best,

Stacey LenderAuction Chair 2012

4 Ways to WinWays to Win

Live Auction Our Live Auction begins at 8:45 pm and lasts for approximately one hour. Grab a seat and bid wildly at this exciting part of the evening! Bidder numbers and paddles are required to participate in the Live Auction and will be obtained when you check in at the Registration Table. Items will be auctioned in the order listed in the catalog with class projects interspersed at the discretion of the auctioneer. Additional items to be auctioned may also be listed in an addendum, presented to you at Check-In.

Paddle RaiserMidway through the Live Auction, you will be given an opportunity to raise your paddle and contribute to support a specific Anderson School cause. This is a highlight of our Live Auction and an emotional moment not to be missed. We hope you will participate.

Silent Auctions The Silent Auctions open for bidding the moment the doors open. Simply write your paddle number and last name legibly on the bid sheet to place a bid. You will find all Silent Auction tables in the main room with four staggered closes starting at 8:00 pm. Announcements will be made prior to the close of each Silent Auction section and all will close before the Live Auction begins at 8:45 pm. Some Silent Auction packages will have a “Guaranteed Purchase Price” at the bottom of the bid sheet. If you see something that you simply MUST have, sign your name and write your bidder number on the Guaranteed Purchase Price line to stop the bidding and make it yours.

Buy-It-Now Boards Don’t miss a visit to the Boards Room – and make sure to visit early! On the Boards you will find Buy-It-Now items discounted 10–80% off. Gift cards, services, gifts, lessons, passes, restaurants, theater & sports tickets and more. There is something for everyone at enticing prices! To purchase a Boards item, simply write your bidder number and name on the card and drop it in the Boards Box to be processed immediately. Do not remove the card from the room and take it with you. You may pick up your items at Check-Out at the end of the evening.

Boutique Enjoy browsing through our Boutique where you’ll find fantastic items at unbelievable prices. Shop for toys, games, jewelry, items for the home and more. And NEW this year – be sure to check out our luxury boutique items. The Boutique will be open all evening until closing but will be closed during the Live Auction. Pay by credit card, cash, or check at boutique check-out.

Goody Bags By popular demand, goody bags are back and chock-full of valuable and fun merchandise for you and your family. Last year, they sold out quickly. Only 50 bags are available at a table in the main room, so get them while they last!

Live Auction Raffle Only 100 tickets at $100 each will be sold for the Live Auction Raffle. The winner will be drawn just before the start of the Live Auction and can choose any Live Auction package (including class projects). You must be present to win (unless prior arrangements have been made with the auction committee) and you must be prepared to select your Live Auction package immediately if your name is called as the winner. Live Auction Raffle tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis prior to the Auction and if sold out in advance, may not be available for purchase the night of the Auction. A minimum of 75 tickets must be sold for the raffle to take place.

Teacher Time RafflesTeacher Time Raffles are better than ever this year! Enter for a chance for your child to be one of the lucky few to enjoy special experiences and outings ranging from a special after-hours “playdate” with his or her teacher to running the school as principal or vice principal for a day. The Teacher Time Raffle catalog and tickets are available in the Boards Room. Teacher Time winners will be announced by email after the auction. You DO NOT have to be present to win.

Roving RafflesFor only $20, you can enter for your chance to win two tickets to The Late Show with David Letterman. Roving sellers will be offering this exclusive raffle opportunity until the start of the Live Auction at 8:45 pm.

5 Auction Rules Auction Rules

AUCTION RULES & CONDITIONS OF SALE

Check-In & Registration: All guests must check in, receive a bidder number and swipe their credit card (even if you paid for your ticket in advance online). Your credit card will only be charged if you are a winning bidder or make any purchases (Boards, Raffles, etc.). By presenting and swiping your card at Registration, you will have express check-out and agree to pay the amounts associated with your purchases. Credit cards, checks and cash accepted but credit cards strongly preferred.

Bidder Numbers: Use your bidder number to make purchases at the Live Auction, Silent Auctions, Boards room, Raffles or other auction items. Boutique purchases must be paid directly in the Boutique by credit card, check or cash.

Bidding in Absentia: Can’t make it to the Auction? You can still participate! Email [email protected] and we’ll set up an in absentia bidder number for you.

Splitting Packages with Friends: Some packages in the Live and Silent Auctions are suitable for group bids. Coordinate with your friends in advance and designate ONE person to bid on the group’s behalf. If you desire, the winning price paid can then be split among the bidders. Just approach the registration desk if you wish to split a package and the winning bid will be split and allocated on each group bidder’s receipt.

“Green” Paddles: Our reusable paddles MUST be turned in at the end of the evening or you will incur a $15 charge.

Check-Out and Item Pickup: Check-Out will open approximately 30 minutes after the Live Auction ends. Simply pick up your invoice and go directly to Item Pickup. You must check out and collect your winnings other than Boutique items. If you need to leave early, we will do our best to accommodate you, but you must email Janet Manabat [email protected] after the auction to receive a copy of your final receipt. The Auction Committee requires that all items be taken by successful bidders on the night of the Auction. Any items that have not been claimed by April 30, 2012, will be deemed donated to the PTA. Payment is expected in full on Saturday, March 31, 2012 — by credit card, check or cash (credit cards preferred).

All sales are final and subject to the terms and conditions stipulated by the donors. Unless otherwise specified, all items have been donated to The Parents of P.S.334, Inc., and are sold by it and not by the donor. The stated values of all services and items have been provided by the donors themselves. Purchasers may not ask for

refunds or exchanges from donors. Unless otherwise specified, certificates for items or services are valid for one year from the date of our event. Unless noted, restaurant gift certificates and services do not include gratuities. Items may not be re-sold or re-auctioned. Restrictions and blackout dates may apply.

THE FINE PRINTThis auction is conducted by The Parents of PS334, Inc., (The Anderson PTA) solely for the benefit of P.S.334, The Anderson School, in New York City. Parents of P.S. 334, Inc. Is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corproation tax ID 59-3826166. All items sold, raffled, given away, or otherwise conveyed as part of this Auction are the property of the Parents of P.S.334, Inc., unless otherwise specified. Neither the Anderson School nor the PTA are responsible or liable for this event.

Every reasonable effort has been made to describe each item correctly, but all items are sold “where is” and “as is” and without warranty or representation of any kind as to the correctness of description, authenticity, conditions, or quality of fitness for any purpose. Any item not bid to a satisfactory price may be withdrawn at the option of the Auctioneer. The highest bidder for live auction items shall be deemed the winner. In the event of a dispute among Live Auction bidders, the auctioneer shall have the sole and final discretion to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and re-sell the package in question.

Unless otherwise specified, all Auction items must be redeemed from merchants within one year of this event. Where applicable, dates and times are to be arranged at the mutual convenience of donor and buyer. Successful bidders who have purchased services or vacation homes donated by Anderson parents should make preliminary contact with the donor within four weeks of this event. It will be the responsibility of winning bidders to ensure that there is no damage done to private homes donated by friends and parents of The Anderson School. Please take the opportunity to thank each donor when using certificates. We rely on the goodwill of donors and merchants to make the auction a success each year, and we will be soliciting from them again. If they have gained a new customer, they’re more likely to donate again.

By participating in this Auction, each bidder recognizes and agrees that the Parents of PS 334, Inc, the PTA and/or any person assisting with the Auction shall not be liable for any occurrence resulting from the use of auctioned items and services.

Tax-Deductibility of Purchases: On your check-out receipt, estimated values will be printed, along with the price paid. Items indicated as “Priceless” may (or may not) print with a value on your receipt, so please be aware that while some “priceless experiences” are attached to some tangible value, others are not. For tax-deductibility information, please check with your personal tax advisor.
