Dear Parishioners, The Gospel reading of this Sunday is about the transfigura-tion of Jesus on Mount Tabor. There is a voice that came from the heavens that said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.”

Here we see the divinity of Jesus revealed. The divinity was revealed to Peter, John and James who accompanied Jesus. This incident is very similar to what happened to Jesus before his passion and death. We see Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane with the same disciples, Peter, John and James. Jesus prays to the Father, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me; still, not my will but yours be done.” Here we see the humanity of Jesus. Jesus is both divine and human. These incidents reveal to us our own identity, like Jesus we are not just human, made of flesh and blood, but there is a divine element in each one of us! Yours Sincerely, Fr. Jose Shaji, Pastor

Lent: A Season of Transformation

Thursday, March 16, 7:00pm - St. Anselm Church Centennial

Hall Lent is a season of death and life, growth and transformation. Everything in the world changes, including us. Whether we choose to or not we will be transformed a thousand times. How will we participate in our own unfoldment? On Thursday, March 16, Mirza Khan will share stories and teachings on the themes of Lent. Mirza is a religious scholar who has studied with Jewish, Christian, and Sufi teachers around the world. He is currently the director of the Religious Studies program at San Domenico School in San Anselmo. Mirza will be joined by his students, who will provide music for the evening.

A Women’s Retreat- Join Marin Catholic’s Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, for a contemplative and meditative retreat. This retreat is a chance to enjoy being loved by God. It is an

opportunity to be inspired by the witness of other women who dedicate their lives to being the face of mercy in the world. It is a gift of time in prayer with another, for one another, and for the St. Anselm community. WHEN: March, 25 2017 9am to 3pm WHERE: St. Anselm Par ish Hall Lunch will be provided. Donation is optional. Call the Rectory Office at 415.453.2342 to register

Green tip: As we begin to get back into our gardens after the rains, let’s check the ingredients on those fertilizers and pesticides to make sure they’re environmentally friendly. And remember, mulch is our best friend in keeping weeds down and water use at a minimum.

On March 1st, we started Lent. We associate Lent with fasting and abstinence, and that is partly so because we

do fast and abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. During Lent, we abstain from meat on all Fridays. Lent is also a good time to nourish your soul by meeting with small prayer groups in preparation for Easter. You could renew your Renew Group, if you have not been getting together. You could join our Centering Prayer Group which meets every Thursday morning at 9:30 in Centennial Hall, or reach out to our homebound seniors. An enriched Soul can enrich your body, mind and spirit!! God Bless, Rose

REST on Holy Saturday-Our amazing community has filled virtually all the spots for volunteers to serve the homeless on Saturday nights since the beginning of November. An exception is for Holy Saturday, April 15. We need more volunteers to serve alongside the Lozaw/Joyce family. If you would like more information or would like to sign up, please email [email protected] or call Pat (415-453-4460).

On Saturday March 4th, at 9:30am, some of our young parishioners experienced the grace of God’s forgiveness as they received their First Reconciliation. The picture on the right captures the reenactment of the parable of the “Lost Sheep,” while the picture on the left captures some of the children leading us in the “Prayers of the Faithful.”

On Sunday, March 5th, at our 10am Mass, our RCIA participates had their Rite of Sending. Our Catechumen and Candidates received the assurance and support of their Catechist, Godparent or Sponsor and our congrega-tion. They were found ready to continue their final period of faith formation which will lead them to full commun-ion with the Catholic Church.

On Sunday, March 5th at St. Mary’s Cathedral, our Catechumen and Candidates had their Rite of Election. Our Catechumen had the honor of signing his name in the Book of Elect, while our Candidates received acknowledgement from our Archbishop.
