Many thanks to all who helped make this year's Parish Picnic so
wonderful--the Picnic Committee who planned for months, the
Men's Club who smoked meat all night long, the volunteers who
set up and cooked and served and cleaned, and everyone who came
out on a chilly but beautiful fall day to share food, drink, fun and
friendship!

movie from Bishop Robert Barron's Catholicism Series on The Communion of
Saints. The video highlights the lives of 4 influential and inspiring female saints.
After the movie, we will enjoy discussion and refreshments.
A Vast Company Of Witnesses: The Communion Of Saints
The story of the Church is told in the examples of those men and women who
dedicated their lives to knowing and serving Jesus Christ. The Catholic Faith is
made visible in real human lives. Bishop Barron gives consideration to some of
the Church’s greatest heroes, and demonstrates how their extraordinary
examples display both the passion and creative potential of the Catholic Church.
Highlighting Katharine Drexel, Therese of Lisieux, Edith Stein, and Mother
Teresa of Calcutta, Bishop Barron tells the story of the Church as a vast compa-
ny of witness who are called by Christ to be a Communion of Saints.

St. Teresa of Calcutta Exhibit In honor of Mother Teresa’s recent canonization and in celebration of All Saints
Day, IHM will host the St. Teresa of Calcutta Love & Mercy Exhibit from October
29 to November 2! This exhibit, staged by the Mission-
aries of Charity, includes over 75 full color panels of
Mother Teresa’s life story, from her birth and vocation to
her amazing works of serving the sick, poor, hungry,
lonely, and vulnerable. We will also have a first class
relic of St. Teresa of Calcutta displayed for veneration at
certain times during the exhibit.
The exhibit will be open for viewing in the Historic
Church from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., October 29-
November 1. The relic will be displayed after each Mass
that occurs on these dates. In order to keep the relic
secure, we ask that at least two people sign up to be pre-
sent with the relic for the entire time that it is on display in the Historic Church. Go
to http://tiny.cc/motherteresarelic to sign up to serve as a guardian.
The Missionaries of Charity ask you not to make donations during the exhibit but
welcome you to bring your prayer intentions instead.
Catholicism: The Pivotal Players
Bishop Robert Barron’s newest series is coming
IHM! From the producers of the acclaimed
documentary Catholicism comes a fresh look at six
of the most important figures in church history:
Francis of Assisi, Thomas Aquinas, Catherine of
Siena, John Henry Newman, G.K. Chesterton, and
Michelangelo. Filmed on location and accompa-
nied by Bishop Barron’s witty commentary, this
series promises to be as entertaining as it is
enlightening.
Video discussion groups will begin meeting on December 4. To reserve your spot in
one of these groups, please register ahead of time at http://www.ihmatlanta.org/adult-
faith-formation.
Each Thursday, Dr. Louanne Bachner leads an informative and prayerful
discussion of the lectionary readings for the following Sunday. The study
meets in the Lower Level at two different times: 9:30 a.m. or 7:00 p.m.
Feel free to join the group as your schedule permits.
Please join us on Wednesday nights at 7:15 p.m. in the lower level of the church. Contact Drew Denton in the parish office for more information.
This Sunday’s topic: “St. Teresa of Calcutta”
Room 8-1, 10:15-11:15 a.m.
“Why should our praise and glorification, or even the
celebration of this feast day mean anything to the
saints? Clearly, if we venerate their memory, it serves
us, not them. But I tell you, when I think of them, I feel
myself inflamed with a tremendous yearning. Calling
the saints to mind inspires, or rather arouses in us,
above all else, a longing to enjoy their company…We
long to share in the citizenship of heaven, to dwell with
the spirits of the blessed.”
