The Master Gasket Catalog is listed in alphabetical

order by manufacturer. Listings are arranged by

liter size in ascending order in the main gasket

and miscellaneous gasket sections.

Select the appropriate model from the model

index and locate the applicable engine. Proceed

to the applicable engine in the engine index,

which precedes each vehicle listing. Refer to the

block shown for that engine, check the Engine

Heading and select the part type, the applicable

year, the model and then the part number. Models

are called out only noted when neccesary.

VIN / Engine Codes

With this catalog you will find late model vehicle

identification code listing (VIN Codes) with each

catalog listing. These VIN codes will be helpful in

identifying late model engines. The VIN codes may

be easily identified from the vehicle identification

plate located on the dashboard and may be

viewed through the windshield on the drivers

side of the vehicle.

Engine designations (Engine Codes) may be

contained within the VIN which will be called out

as VIN Code or may be not noted seperately as

Engine Code this may be found on the engine

block, consult manufacter specific materials for

further detail.

With over 10,000 gasket part numbers fitting several

thousand engines, it is extremely important that you

do the following: 1) Know the exact year, make, model

engine size and VIN code for the engine you are working

on. 2) Read the foot notes and additional information

listed for the particular gasket or gasket set you desire.

How to use a QR code

What were originally developed in the early 1990s

to track parts in vehicle manufacturing, Quick

Response Codes (QR codes) can today be seen

virtually everywhere, such as in this catalog and

will soon be included on the labels of MAHLE

Clevite products.

QR Codes are two-dimensional bar codes, but

instead of a traditional bar code consisting

of a series of only vertical lines QR codes are

made up of a grid of tiny black squares on a

white background in both vertical and horizontal,

arranged in the form of a square pattern. QR

Codes often direct users to product websites

where they can then learn about a particular

item or place. They can also be used to provide

tracking information for products, routing data

on a product label, or contact information on a

business card. In order to translate the code, free

QR code reader apps for Smartphone devices can

be downloaded and used to uncover the encoded

information. Open the reader you downloaded

and position your phone over the QR code. Scan

it using the camera on your phone. Depending

on the QR code reader installed, you will then be

shown a link to the web address associated with

the QR code, or directed to the page it is linked to.

When servicing the intake manifold on late model

engines, technicians often need to buy additional

gaskets that are not normally found in traditional

intake manifold gasket sets. These may include

valve cover gaskets, injector o-rings, water and

emissions connections, and other miscellaneous

gaskets.

Cylinder head bolts

Connecting Element

Cylinder head bolts are the connecting elements

between engine block, cylinder head gasket,

and cylinder head. The bolt tightening force is

an important factor for the mutual sealing of the

combustion chamber, oil and coolant channels,

and the ambient air a task that must be

performed perfectly with cold or extremely hot

engines, at negative and high positive pressures.

When tightening (torquing) the cylinder head

bolts, the bolt force generates the so-called

surface pressure, which is essential for achieving

a perfect seal. Hereby, and in combination with

the applied torquing method, the bolts have a

strong effect on surface pressure quality.

Practical Tips: Preparation and Cylinder Head Installation

1. Carefully clean the sealing surfaces of the engine block and cylinder head dirt and gasket remnants on the surfaces are a frequent source of trouble.

3. Remove any gouging, component distortions, grooves or scores, e.g. by surface grinding in a specialist workshop.

6. Position the head gasket accurately on the engine block. Do not use any additional sealing compounds, grease or oil.

2. Use a straightedge to check the surface flatnesses; longitudinally and transversely.

5. Clean the bolt hole threads, and remove any contamination, oil and water, e.g. with a blast

of compressed air.

4. Observe the minimum dimensions of the engine block and cylinder head according to the

manufacturers specifications, as well as the specified head gasket thickness.

8. Always use new head bolts.

9. Lightly lubricate the bolt thread and the bottom of the bolt head by applying a small quantity of oil to a rag and rotating the bolt in the oily rag.

DO NOT DIP IN OIL!

11. Always follow the latest manufacturers instructions regarding the tightening sequence for the head bolts the instructions are not only different according to manufacturer, but can also vary depending on engine type.

10. If the manufacturer specifies the use of a washer, lightly lubricate both sides.

7. Fit the cylinder head, and take care not to damage the head gasket during assembly.

12. Only use approved and recommended antifreeze agents and corrosion inhibitors.

Gasket terminology

Head Set

Contains all the gaskets necessary to remove

and replace a cylinder head on an inline engine or

heads on V-6 and V-8 engines.

Lower Set

When combined with a Head Set, contains all

the gaskets necessary to completely assemble

an engine.

Engine Kit Gasket Set/Full Set

Contains all the gaskets necessary to completely

assemble an engine.

Cylinder Head Gasket

OE style, replacement head gasket for the model

years listed. Head gaskets are sold individually.

Some engines use a left and right gasket and

some engines require gaskets of a specific

thickness, so be sure to have all the details when

you spec the gasket part number.

Cylinder Head Bolt Set

Contains all the head bolts necessary to replace

one cylinder head.

Valve Cover Set

Contains the valve cover gasket(s), spark plug

tube seals when required and any grommets

required to remove and replace the valve cover.

One set does both valve covers on V-6 and

V-8 engines. On some popular engines, valve

cover gaskets are sold individually. When sold

individually, tube seals and grommets are not

included.

Valve Stem Oil Seal, Exhaust/Intake

This kit contains enough valve stem seals to

replace all the exhaust/intake seals on one engine.

Manifold Set, Exhaust/Intake

This set contains an original equipment style

exhaust manifold gasket, or in the case of a V-6

or V-8 engine, gaskets needed to replace an

exhaust/intake manifold.

Manifold Master Set, Intake

Also referred to as a Manifold Installation Set, this

set contains premium intake manifold gaskets,

valve cover gaskets and all associated and related

gaskets needed to replace an intake manifold.

Intake Manifold Bolt Set

Original equipment style replacement manifold

bolt set for engines requiring the technician

replace the manifold bolts when removing the

intake manifold.

Plenum Chamber Gasket

For engines having a plenum chamber (upper

intake manifold), this is an original equipment style

replacement gasket.

Oil Pan Gasket

Contains the gasket(s) required to remove and

replace an oil pan.

Rear Main Seal Set

Contains both the rear main seal/rear main seal

carrier and the rear main seal carrier gasket when

required.

Timing Cover Set

Contains the timing cover seal and where required,

the timing cover gasket(s). Many popular engines

have the timing cover seal and gaskets available

Installation de culasse

Conseils pratiques: Prparation et installation de culasse

1. Nettoyer soigneusement la surface de scellement du bloc et de la culasse. Les dbris et les restants de joints sur les surfaces sont souvent la source de tous les problmes.

3. Enlever toutes les rainures, liminer les distor-tions, marques, ex. en utilisant une rectifieuse en atelier mcanique.

6. Position le joint de culasse prcisment sur le bloc. Ne pas utiliser aucun produit de scellement supplmentaires, tels que huile, graisse.

2. Utiliser une rgle rectifie pour vrifier la surface du bloc de long en large.

5. Nettoyer les trous de boulons et les filets, enlever toute contamination, en utilisant par example de lair comprime.

4. Respecter les dimensions minimum du bloc moteur et la culasse selon les normes du manu-facturier, ainsi que lpaisseur spcifie du joint.

11. Toujours suivre les dernires recommendation du manufacturier au sujet de la phase et squence de serrage des boulons. Les instructions sont non seulement diffrent dun manufacturier lautre mais dun moteur lautre.

10. Si le manufacturier spcifie lutilisation de ron-delles, lubrifier de chaque cot.

7. Prparer la culasse, prenez soins de ne pas endommager le joint de culasse durant son installation.

12. Utiliser seulement des liquides de refroidissement approuvs.

a utilizarse en vehculos todo terreno (off-road)

que participan en diferentes competencias o en

otro tipo de vehculos que estan excentos de las

leyes aplicables para el control de emisiones. La

instalacin de estos componentes en vehculos

sujetos a dichas leyes pueden estar prohibidos.

MAHLE recomienda revisar las leyes aplicables

para el control de emisiones antes de considerar

la instalacin de este tipo de componentes o

partes modificadas.

Como utilizar este catlogo

El Catalogo Master de Juntas se encuentra en

orden alfabtico por fabricante. Los listados estn

organizados por el tamao en litros de forma

ascendente en las secciones principales para

juntas y miscelaneos.

Seleccione el modelo apropiado desde el ndice

y localice el motor que aplica. Dirjase al motor

que aplica de acuerdo al ndice, el cul precede

a cada lista de vehculos. Refierase al bloque

que muestra el motor, revise el Titulo del Motor

y elija el tipo de pieza, el ao de aplicacin, el

modelo y posteriormente el nmero de parte.

Los modelos son mencionados solo cuando es

necesario hacerlo.

Codigo de Motor / VIN

Con este catlogo podr encontrar los cdigos

de identificacin (Cdigos VIN) con cada lista

del catlogo. Estos cdigos VIN sern tiles al

identificar motores muy recientes. Los cdigos

VIN pueden ser fciles de identificar en la placa

de identificacin del vehculo hubicada sobre el

tablero y puede verse a travs del parabrisas del

lado del conductor.

La designacin del motor (Cdigo de Motor)

puede estar contenida dentro del cdigo VIN

o puede encontrarse de forma separada como

Cdigo de Motor, esto puede ser localizado en el

bloque del motor, consulte materiales especficos

por cada fabricante para ms detalles.

Con ms de 10.000 nmeros de parte en juntas y

cubriendo varios miles de motores, es de suma

importancia hacer lo siguiente: 1) Conocer la fecha

exacta, marca, modelo, tamao y el cdigo VIN del

motor que se est trabajando. 2) Leer las notas al

pie de pgina y la informacin adicional para alguna

junta en particular o para algn juego de juntas que

usted desee. Las siguientes descripciones son en gran

medida exactas, pero no se puede tener en cuenta las

posibles variaciones encontradas de motor a motor y

de fabricante a fabricante.

Cada listado de motores esta dividido como sigue:

La seccin principal de juntas incluye

los juegos ms importantes y los articulos

relacionados, los cuales estn organizados por

popularidad.

La seccin de miscelaneos incluye todas las

juntas y sellos que no aparecen en la seccin

principal, adems de encontrarse ordenadas en

orden alfabetico.

cada nmero de parte:
