10 Student feedback mechanism on Institutional Governance/faculty performance:

Feedback / Evaluation of teachers by students are conducted online by students after the end

of each class test / semester. The feedback / evaluation contain (a) items on faculty’s teaching

effectiveness & (b) feedback on various infrastructural facilities. Additionally a drop box is

provided near Director’s office in which students can freely voice their opinions without

disclosing identity if they wish on any matter pertaining to the Institute.

11 Grievance redressal mechanism for faculty, staff and students

The Institute has constituted a Grievance Redressal Committee as per the guidelines issued by

AICTE. The aggrieved parties are free to approach the committee for Redressal of their

grievances.

Additionally regular Staff meetings are held in which staff members can freely voice their

grievances, suggestions, etc. on academic or administrative matters before the Director / the

Principal.

Departmental Achievements: Two students from S.E EXTC have secured CGPA 10 in the examination

held in 2015-16

One student secured 3rd rank in University for the examinations held in

April / May, 2012

Students regularly participate in national event i.e. Robocon in which they

design & develop Robots based on themes of the competition.

Two faculties from the department have chaired the two IEEE approved

International Conferences (CSCITA-2017 and CSCITA-2014) conducted by

SFIT.

The department has organized workshops and talks for students on

various topics like Finance Management, Cell Phone and Cell Tower

Radiation Hazards, Robotics, etc.

The department has also organized and participated in MHRD sponsored-

IIT conducted workshops on topics like Pedagogy, Analog Electronics,

Signals and Systems, Control Systems, CMOS, Mixed Signal and Radio

Frequency VLSI Design etc.

A one week ISTE approved STTP on ‘Mathematical and Computational

Techniques in Engineering’ and one day University orientation

programme for the subject of “Circuits and Transmission Lines” was

organized by the department.

The department has successfully conducted orientation programme on the

subject of Microwave Integrated Circuits on 8th Jan, 2016.

Four of our faculty members have successfully completed Ph.D.; while five

of them are pursuing PhD.

Departmental Achievements: Department has conducted ISTE Approve STTP on “Image Processing

Application: Basics to Advanced” in Jan 2010.

PG course has been started from 2012 onwards. For past two yrs results of

Ist year has been 100%.

One student secured 2nd rank in University in the examinations held in

April / May, 2013

Two of our students were part of a of a team that made it to the top 12

teams worldwide in the 2014 Maker Faire Mars Rover Competition in

Paris, France.

Eligible students have been placed in companies like Infosys, Cap

Gemini, L&T Infotech, iGate, TCS, Tech Mahindra, MAC Cloud Front,

Ingram-micro, Seclore Mind-Craft, Colgate, TPG, Endurance etc.

co-ordination with Training & Placement department which could

result in helping the department to get projects and consulting for its

Grants fetched: Dr. Joanne Gomes has received a Research Grant of Rs. 25,000 from

Mumbai University in November 2013.

Ms. Nazneen Ansari and Mr. Bhavesh Pandya have received grant of

Rs. 25000/-- from IIT B for Akash Tablet App development.

Departmental Achievements: The department organizes and conducts ISTE approved Short Term

Technical Programmes.

I.T. Department has achieved the grant of Rs.1,00,000/- from AICTE

for conducting a Seminar/STTP on ‘Analytics Essentials and Tools in

Applied Research’.

Financial assistance of Rs.10000/- was provided by ISTE for the above

said course in the month of Jan. 2015.

Consistently achieved, more than 90% pass percentage, in last three

years in the Final Year Engineering and produced University Rankers

among top 10 lists

One student has secured 6thrank in the University for the Exams

held in May/June, 2011.

Two students have secured 7th and 8th rank in the University for the

Exams held in May/June, 2012.

Mr. Mahesh Mali won Faculty Excellence Award 2013 at Infosys Ltd.

Pune-DC for innovative methods of teaching in technical subjects.

Students regularly participate in national event i.e. Robocon in which

they design & develop Robots based on themes of the competition.

Students of the IT department participated in the National Robotics

competition ‘ABU_ROBOCON 2014’, held at Balewadi sports complex

Pune between Mar.6th- 8th, 2014, as part of SFIT ROBOCON team and

got Appreciation Certificate for their consistently good performance

in Robotics for last ten years.

A three days’ workshop on “Web App Development using Liberty

Profile” in association with IBM was organized for staff and students

by IT Students Association on 12th Feb, 22nd Feb and 15th march 2014.

Students of IT department, Kartik Haritha, Lidiya D’Souza, Akshata

Shetty, Aakriti Tulsiyan and Neil Rego secured the project from

Persistent Systems Ltd, Pune; for the academic year 2014-15.

IT department Students were benefited by workshops on ‘Advanced

Internet technology’, ‘PC-Assembling,’ and Seminars on ‘Storage

area network’ and ‘Microsoft Azure’ during Mar./Apr./Sep., 2015,

organized by ITSA club. A competition for Website development

“Weave the Web” was also organized for students.

IT Department student, Mr. Het Shah stood at first place of the

‘FOURTH SEED MAHA IT Idol, 2017’ competition across all eight

Universities in Maharashtra, among 73000+ participants from more

than 336 colleges, that was conducted by SEED InfoTech Ltd. on Mar.

30th 2017.

Students of IT department, Alston Fernandes, Gillian Gonsalves,

Ashish Nambiar, Ronith Jain, Dexson, Maxwell Gomes and Aniket

Kumar had stood first in Football match competition at VJTI College,

Atharva College, Wilsons College and Sydnem College during

academic year 2016-17.

Department faculties have attended continuous education programs,

seminars and workshops conducted by ISTE, IIT-B, IIT-K under

MHRDA on various subjects.

IT Department faculty, Dr. Vaishali Jadhav presented a paper on

"Complex Query JOIN Optimization in Parallel Distributed

Environment", in proceedings of the 2016 international Conference

on Parallel and Distributed Processing Techniques and Applications

(PDPTA), WORLDCOMP’16, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on Jul. 2016.

IT Department faculty, Ms. Purnima A. Kubde presented a paper and

received Best Presentation Award on “Image Cartoonization

Methods using LBG, KPE and KMCG vector quantization.” In an IEEE

sponsored conference, ICCUBEA _PUNE on Aug. 13th to 14th 2016.

A Session on C# by I.T. Department faculty, Mr. Bhavesh Pandya was

organized for all faculty members of IT Department on Sep. 17th 2016.

I.T. Department faculty, Ms. Purnima Kubde conducted a seminar for

I.T. Department faculty, Ms. Nitika Rai presented a paper on “Effect of

Probabilistic Sensing Models in a deterministically deployed

Wireless Sensor Network” in IEEE TENCON-2016, Singapore, on Nov.

22nd to 25th 2016.

I.T. Department faculty, Dr. Vaishali Jadhav has successfully

completed her Ph. D. in Computer Engineering on My 2017.

A two days’ ISTE approved workshop on ‘Ph.D. Preparatory 2016’ was

organized for Ph.D. aspirants from Mumbai University as well as from

outside Universities on Jan. 8th and 9th 2016.

Financial assistance of Rs.10000/- was provided by ISTE for the above

said course in the month of Jan. 2015.

A Technical workshop was organized on Microsoft Azure on Sep. 9th

2015 for IT department students by ITSA.

A Two days colloquium, on the topic ‘I.T for Society’ was organized

by IT department for teachers and students during Jan. 29th - 30th

2016. This was conducted by Academia and Industry experts.

Colloquium covered upcoming topics like IT in Education, IT in

Entertainment, IT in Finance, IT in Communication, IT in Agriculture.

A Technical Seminar was organized on ‘C#’ on Feb. 24th 2016 for IT

department students by ITSA.

A Seminar (Two Sessions) on ‘Python’ was organized for IT students

by IT department during Feb.26th – 27thFeb. 2016.

A Technical Seminar was organized on ‘Gaming’ on Mar. 9th 2016 for

IT department students by ITSA.

A Technical Seminar was organized on ‘Power BI’ on Aug. 31st 2016

for IT department students by ITSA.

A Technical workshop (Two Sessions) was organized on Node JS on

Sep. 3rd and 17th 2016 for IT department students by ITSA.

A Seminar on ‘Python’ was organized for IT students by IT department

on Sep. 21st 2016.

A Seminar on ‘Presentation skills’ was organized on Oct. 5th 2016 for

IT department students by ITSA.

An Industrial visit had been to C-DAC ‘Param Computers’, Pune,

during Sep. 14th-15th 2014.

An Industrial visit was organized to ‘MAPRO food Production,

Mahableshwar’, during Feb. 28th – 2nd 2015.

An Industrial Visit was organized by IT department to C-DAC, Punjab

Tractor and Swaraj Mazda located at Chandigarh, for students in Dec.

27th 2015 – Jan. 3rd 2016.

An Industrial visit had been to Mumbai Railways to get insights into

‘Train management system’ on Jan. 16th 2016.

Distinguished Alumni: Mr. Pratik Mehta turned out to be Entrepreneur, the student of 2004

batch.

Mr. Riyaz Rehaman is presently doing his MBA from IIM Ahmedabad

from 2007 batch.

Mr. Glen Fernandes got admission for PG at Belgium, the student of

Mr. Swapnil Gawde achieved 6th rank in Mumbai University in

Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology in year 2011.

Ms. Urvashi Sheth achieved 7th rank in Mumbai University in Bachelor

of Engineering in Information Technology in year 2012.

Ms. Ruchita Joshi achieved 8th rank in Mumbai University in Bachelor

of Engineering in Information Technology in year 2012.

Mr. Nikhil Kadam and Mr. DevanshJani secured 3rd place (Bronze

medal) in ‘Mumbai University Inter-collegiate Chess Tournament

2013-14’, which was held in Aug. 2013.

Ms. Arantxa Sanchis billiard player She won the Gold medal in the

Women's Team event at the inaugural IBSF World 6-Red Snooker and

Team Snooker Championship in Carlow, Ireland on 6 Oct. 2013.

Ms. Himani Desai achieved 5th rank in Mumbai University in Bachelor

of Engineering in Information Technology in year 2013.

Ms. Shanu Salunkhe got admission in Georgia Institute of technology

which is among world’s top rank universities, the student of 2013

batch

Mr. Bhanu Jalan has developed an android game “TAPY”, which has

gained a lot of popularity and is available on Android Play store, the

student of 2014 batch.

Mr. Chirag Lathigara, was selected as member for Microsoft student

partner initiative, the student of 2014 batch.

Mr. Clinton D’cunhais associated with internationally recognized

band, the student of 2014 batch.

Mr. Jalan Bhanu achieved 6th rank in Mumbai University in Bachelor of

Engineering in Information Technology in year 2014.

Ms. Renita D’souza achieved 10th rank in Mumbai University in

Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology in year 2014.

Mr. Aquil Chagle has his own startup Ecommerce website Stylecheck,

the student of 2015 batch.

Mr. Salil Dabholkar and Mr. Yuvraj have created a software, ‘Quibble’

for CO and PO mapping of IAT marks, under guidance of Dr. Joanne

Gomes and Ms. Prajyoti Lopes for the Department of Information

Technology, in year 2016.
