About Oncor
• About 7 million consumers, ~ one third of Texas • Sixth-‐largest U.S. transmission and distribu+on
company • 164,153 km of distribu+on lines • 36,260 km of transmission lines
• 86,904 square kilometers of territory
Oncor: situaOon
8
Oncor is the largest regulated transmission and distribu+on u+lity in Texas
n DeregulaOon separates generaOon, transmission and distribuOon into independent operaOng jurisdicOons
n Consumers are given choice to purchase energy from one of more than 100 retail electric providers
ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas), the regulatory body, mandates that Oncor provides 15-‐minute interval data to the market for sejlement every day
n ValidaOon requirements grow from collecOng one billing read per month to collecOng 96 reads each day
n Storage requirements increased from insignificant volumes to more than 28TB of historic data

Oncor: soluOon
9
The smart meter and MDMS technology must support large data volumes
n Oncor installed Gridstream RF Mesh technology and 3.2 million Focus AX-‐SD smart meters and the Gridstream MDMS – Smart meters deliver more than 355 million
reads per day – MDMS validates every read, every day and
prepares data for use across uOlity
n Home Area Networking protocols are supported by the meter and MDMS – ability to provision and communicate with
in-‐home displays about pricing and usage informaOon
n Oncor also deployed SmartData for Outage Management, an applicaOon extension for the Gridstream MDMS to support its Outage Management System during outages

Oncor Results
n The command-‐and-‐control funcOonality provided by total soluOon enables remotely compleOng more than 4 million service orders eliminaOng 20 million drive miles, 1.65 million fuel gallons, 16,000 tons of CO2 emissions.
n The Gridstream MDMS processes mulOple channels of data, more than 355 million meter reads each day through its ValidaOon, EsOmaOon and EdiOng rules enabling Oncor to deliver the previous day’s usage for 3.2 million meters to ERCOT for sehlement. – The Gridstream MDMS processes this data in approximately 43 minutes
n SmartData for Outage Management enables Oncor to fix 25% of outages before the customer calls to report a power failure.
