Afternoon visit to the green valley of Konavle. Still respecting traditional values and life in the family, inhabitants of Konavle have preserved many of their old crafts and skills.
Visit a unique ethnographic collection carefully preserved by the family Bokarica at their family estate.The house ( mentioned in this area already in 15th century) has remained in its original state from the 19th century. It consists of several smaller units each of which served a specific purpose. Check what tools were used in everyday activities and see how the life was organised within " family communities ".
Early dinner at one of the rural farms, accompanied by tunes of traditional music, is an excellent wrap up to this day. Saturday, 14th October 2017 Excursion - Dubrovnik region (Konavle – visit to Soko Tower, wine tasting & traditional Dalmatian specialities and visit to Cavtat) – OPTIONAL, NOT INCLUDED IN CONFERENCE FEE
Half day tour to Konavle area starts by visiting the Soko Tower, which stands high on the rock above the village of Dunave in Konavle. It's imposing form has dominated the Konavle valley since Illyrian times. Visit a traditional wine cellar located in the village of Brajković. There you’ll learn the stories of how the wine of Konavle is made and taste homemade olive oil and wines.
The last stop of the tour is the city of Cavtat. The special charm of this old city is in the buildings that have remained from the old Dubrovnik Republic. Enjoy the walk along it's sea promenade.
