MANAGEMENT OF CASES FOR INTERRUPTED TREATMENT ON ANIMAL BITE PATIENTS

1.) Refer patients to Animal Bite physician for re-evaluation and re-treatment.

2.) Manage patients with interrupted treatment according to recommended treatment medication.

3.) Continue treatment for patients with referral or transferred with a proper referral slip. However, do re-evaluate patients.

POLICIES ON ANIMAL DEFAULTER PATIENTS

1.) Animal Bite Center should be carried out in settings that are acceptable to the patient.

2.) All defaulter patients should be contacted to know the reason why they stop coming to the facility.

3.) All defaulter patients should be re-evaluated by the Animal Bite physician.

4.) The Medical Social Worker shall ensure provision of drugs to patients who are not capable to buy the anti-rabies vaccine.

5.) Tracking mechanism for patients lost to follow-up their treatment shall be put in place to ensure the patients who fail to follow-up as scheduled are immediately traced.
