    LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT 14 weeks or one semester; summer internship is available (20-40 hrs of work per week)

    DEFINITION Community Action Partnership of Greater St. Joseph seeks a Management Intern to help further the

    capacity of the non-profit community action agency through work with the Departments of Housing, Head

    Start, Community Development and Fund Development. This position will implement and achieve

    outcomes as contracted below. All efforts will be aligned with the strategic plan of the agency.

    The Management Intern will build and maintain relationships with a variety of partners in Andrew,

    Buchanan, Clinton and DeKalb Counties.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    A. Build the image of the agency and the issue of poverty through local media with writing news releases and PSAs asnecessary and one feature article per month. Also build awareness by maintaining agencys social media networks

    (Facebook and Twitter) and the agencys website.

    B. Develop housing database to include rental properties and potential building sites for homes to serve low-income and

    senior housing.

    C. Assist with projects in the community that aid low-income individuals to become self-sufficient.

    D. Other duties as assigned in agency departments and/or chosen as an interest of the intern.

    EDUCATIONJunior or senior-level student pursuing studies in business management, marketing, journalism, public relations, social work,

    education, or a similar degree program. Previous intern experience is preferred.

    Hours to be completed will be determined by Northwest Missouri State University as deemed appropriate for class credit. It is the

    hope the student will complete 20-40 hours of work per week, with an option of working from home with regular meetings in St.

    Joseph as determined by the Director of Development and Fund Development Intern. CAP St. Joe will ensure the student is given

    flexibility for class and study time.

    At the completion of the internship, the student will have numerous portfolio examples and be given a formal evaluation to further his

    or her knowledge in their abilities and skills.
