    Man asleep at the wheel in Watertown, busted with heroin in car

    WATERTOWN A Canton man was placed under arrest after police officers found himasleep behind the wheel of his car with a baggie of heroin beneath his feet.

    On Dec. 13 at 5:15 p.m., police reported to Perry Street for reports of a suspicious car thathad been stopped on the street, with the engine running and lights on, for more than an hour.When police arrived on the scene, they located the red, 2010 Mercedes and allegedly foundErgin Abaz, 47, of 5 Fairview Road in Canton, asleep behind the wheel of his car whichwas in drive with his foot on the break.

    Officers were able to wake up Abaz who was allegedly difficult to understand because hewas slurring his words. According to police reports, officers found pieces of plastic baggieson the floor, one of which was tied in a knot and contained a brown substance that officersbelieved to be heroin.

    Abaz was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of drugs; possession of aClass A drug, heroin; and was held on a warrant out of Stoughton District Court for two

    counts of larceny over $250.
