    Day 3: Kuala Lumpur Visit the Royal Selangor centre and see how crude tin ore istransformed into pewter. From there we visit the Batu Caves, a Hinduprayer complex with its shrine housed inside a cave. In the earlyafternoon, the tour brings us to Kuala Selangor. After dinner, board aboat for a short night cruise to see the Fireflies. Overnight in KualaLumpur. (B, D)

    Day 4: Kuala Lumpur- Cameron HighlandsHead north to the small town of Tapah at the base of the mountainrange where Cameron Highlands is situated. See bamboo basketweaving before a short stop at the Lata Iskandar cascades and atOrang Asli huts along the winding drive up to Cameron Highlands,nestled on a plateau in the Titiwangsa Range. See rolling hill slopes oftea plantations & visit a tea factory to learn how tea is processed.Overnight at either Strawberry Park Resort or Heritage Hotel. (B, L)

    Day 5: Cameron Highlands- PenangDescend the highlands for the city of Ipoh. Stop at Sam Poh Tong, aChinese temple enclosed in a limestone cave. It opens to a courtyardsurrounded by limestone walls. A brief stop at the gilded domedUbudiah Mosque and Iskandariah Palace. Cross Penang Bridge toPenang Island. Overnight at the Holiday Inn Resort in Penang, orsimilar. (B, L)

    Day 6: Penang Today we visit Georgetown, Fort Cornwallis and the Esplanade beforevisiting the Khoo Kongsi Clan House - one of the venues used for thefilm Anna & the King. The house features elaborately engravedmasonry and woodcarvings. Kek Lok Si is where the Pagoda of TenThousand Buddhas is located. Overnight in Penang. (B,L)

    Day 7: Penang-Kota BahruThe drive today takes you through Malay houses, rice fields and deepmountain forests. Stop over at the massive man-made Lake Temenggorat Banding for lunch. At Kota Bahru, check out the state cultural centre,Gelanggang Seni. Overnight at the Renaissance Hotel in Kota Bahru orsimilar. (B, L)

    Day 8: Kota Bahru- Kuala TerengganuThe Central Market in Kota Bahru is not to be missed. You will noticethat most of the traders are women. The city is a haven for silverwareand trinkets, as well as kite making, top spinning and Songket weaving.Drive to the state of Terengganu and overnight at Grand ContinentalHotel/ Primula Parkroyal Hotel in Kuala Terengganu, or similar.     Day 9: Kuala Terengganu- Cherating Terengganu, home to brightly painted fishermen boats, is also thehome of many snacks which Malaysians enjoy. Crackers, made of fishkneaded in sago and stick rice cooked in bamboo, are among themany delicacies found in this state. At Cherating, monkeys pluckcoconuts for farmers while some ladies weave Pandanus leaves intomats. Overnight at Swiss Garden Resort/The Legend Resort inCherating, or similar. (B, L)

    Day 10: Cherating-Kuala LumpurAfter breakfast, transfer back to Kuala Lumpur. By late evening you willarrive into Kuala Lumpur and will be transferred to your respectivehotels. (B, L)

    Day 1: Kota Kinabalu On arrival in Kota Kinabalu, you will be met and transferred to yourhotel. Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah, was formerly known asJesselton, then, the capital of British North Borneo Chartered Company.While most main buildings were destroyed during the Second WorldWar, the city has a few unique landmarks. A visit to the Sabah Museumand Heritage Village provides a brief look at the historical and culturalbackground of the regions (closed on Fridays).     Day 2: Kinabalu National Park Depart on a 2 hour journey to Kinabalu National Park, a world heritagesite. This is home to giant ferns, various Rhododendrons and most ofall, to the majestic Mount Kinabalu. Experience a guided jungle walk inthe forest approximately 2,000m above sea level and visit the MountainGarden. Overnight Kota Kinabalu. (B, L)

    Day 3: Kota Kinabalu-Sandakan-Sepilok-SukauJoin your early morning flight to the historic town of Sandakan. Onarrival, transfer to the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre towitness rehabilitation and rainforest conservation efforts by the StateWildlife Department. Lunch is a simple affair at the Centres cafeteriabefore a two hour drive to Sukau River. Check in at the Discovery RiverLodge and enjoy a free afternoon before embarking on an upriver boat-ride to appreciate the many species of Borneos rainforest flora andfauna.     Day 3: Kuching-Iban LonghouseEarly start for the forest. Today, visit the descendants of theheadhunters for which Borneo is infamous. At Serian, take time to seethe local market - you may like to buy some gifts for the tribal chief.Then, a short stop at a Pepper Garden to see how pepper isprocessed. Take a longboat to the longhouse. Rest or join the natives intheir daily chores such as basket or mat weaving, mending fishing nets,feeding livestock or fishing. In the evening join in the merry making ofthe Ibans as you try their rice wine and join in their traditional WarDance; the ngajat. Overnight at a basic guesthouse. (B, L, D)

    Day 4: Iban Longhouse-DamaiDuring an early jungle walk, your Iban guide may show you how to usethe blowpipe. Late morning, return to Kuching and proceed on toDamai Beach. The day is at leisure. Overnight at Holiday Inn DamaiBeach or similar. (B, L)
