Glen Coe & Loch NessToday we head over the Falls of Lora on the Connel Bridge and up the coast for a brief stop at Spean Bridge. Then we follow the Great Glen and route of the Caledonian Canal to Fort Augustus and the top of Loch Ness. Here you may wish to take a cruise on this famous loch, before you have time to explore the town and have lunch. In the afternoon, we head back towards Fort William and stop at the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge and hopefully if clear, views of Ben Nevis. Then we head up through Glen Coe and over Rannoch Moor for a brief stop at Tyndrum before returning to the hotel.

Day at Leisure in ObanScotland’s seafood capital offers up a wealth of attractions such as the War and Peace Museum, the Chocolate Factory and Oban Distillery as well as local craft and gift boutiques and other well-known retail outlets which you will have time to enjoy to the full on your free day. Or you could catch the small ferry to the Isle of Kerrera, which is directly opposite your hotel, or if you are feeling fit, a walk up to McCaigs Tower or Pulpit Hill for outstanding views of the town and its harbour setting.

Inveraray & Loch FyneAfter breakfast, a short journey to the shores of Loch Fyne brings us to the traditional county town of Inveraray. The castle is the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll, who founded the town in 1745 and is a very rewarding attraction to visit. Or you can visit Inveraray Jail in the centre of town, which was in use as a prison from 1820 to 1889 but is now a fascinating living museum. There is plenty of time to browse the many shops and cafes and enjoy the waterfront setting. After lunch we return to the hotel with time to relax or take a stroll along Oban seafront before dinner.

Regarded as one of the world’s greatest rail journeys, you will pass through the finest scenery in the Highlands and over the Glenfinnan viaduct. You will have a day at leisure to explore the bustling port of Oban, or just relax at your hotel. Then we have an excursion to the picturesque town of Inveraray on the shores of Loch Fyne. You may wish to visit the castle, the famous Jail, or just browse the shops and cafes and enjoy the waterfront setting. Glenfinnan Viaduct

Jacobite Steam Train (tickets included)We depart the hotel, after breakfast, for a leisurely drive along the shores of Loch Linnhe to Fort William. We board the famous ‘Jacobite’ Steam Train (regarded as one of the world’s greatest rail journeys) and follow in the footsteps of Harry Potter and the Hogwarts Express. This memorable journey takes us through Glenfinnan and over the famous 21-arch ‘Horseshoe’ viaduct to Mallaig. Mallaig is a small fishing port overlooking the Sound of Sleat, which separates the mainland from the Isle of Skye. There will be time for lunch and perhaps a visit to the Mallaig Heritage Centre which explains the building of the West Highland line, including a multimedia display, film show, lifeboat exhibition, model railway and gift shop. Note: Depending on date, the train journey may be Fort William to Mallaig, or Mallaig to Fort William.

Isles of Mull & Iona (tickets included)Today your coach boards the ferry to Mull, a crossing that affords views of both mainland and islands across the Firth of Lorne and Sound of Mull. As the ferry approaches the port of Craignure on Mull, you will see Lismore Lighthouse before slipping past Duart Castle, hanging precariously on the cliff tops. The coach will take you off the ferry and across Mull, with its rugged Hebridean scenery, to catch a second ferry to the sacred Isle of Iona, reputed to be the burial place of 48 kings of Scotland, including Macbeth. Here you will have time to explore, and you may wish to wander up to the famous medieval Abbey. For many centuries, Iona has been an island of special significance for all Christians. In AD 563, Columba and his followers arrived here from Ireland to spread the gospel in Scotland and the north of England.

SUMMER TOURS | May - October 2019

This unique tour combines classic examples of Scottish cultural, industrial and landscape heritage. There is an included boat trip on the world’s only rotating boatlift; the Falkirk wheel is a wonder of ingenuity and engineering. Also included is a tour of the magnificent equine sculptures, the Kelpies. The next day we explore the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park and take an included cruise on the steam ship Sir Walter Scott on Loch Katrine. On the next day, your knowledgeable courier will guide you through the history and drama of Rannoch Moor and Glen Coe, before arriving in the busy port of Oban, gateway to the Isles. On the last day entry is included to the Royal Research Ship (RRS) Discovery, situated beside the new £80 million V&A Design Dundee museum and together they make an inspiring excursion. Be amongst the first to experience the much-anticipated museum featuring art and design from Scotland and around the world.

The Falkirk Wheel & Kelpies Tour (tickets to both included)The Falkirk Wheel is a wonder of ingenuity and engineering; the world’s only rotating boatlift which allows boats to be lifted between two levels to join two canals together. We will experience this first-hand with a boat trip on the canal and lift. After lunch, we keep with the canal theme with a visit to the Kelpies. They are the world’s largest equine sculptures, modelled on the Clydesdale horses which pulled the barges and played a vital role in Scotland’s industrial past. They take on the name ‘Kelpies’ from mythical creatures that reside in lochs and rivers with the strength of 100 horses. A day to be inspired by both modern creations and industrial heritage.

Loch Lomond, the Trossachs & Steam Ship Cruise (ticket included)We start our stunning tour to the Trossachs with a visit to Callander, a popular tourist town situated on the River Teith and which is often described as ‘the gateway to the Highlands’. This lovely old town is crammed with teashops and cafes and an eclectic mix of craft and gift boutiques. Continuing our scenic tour through the Trossachs National Park, we reach Loch Katrine where you will have time for some lunch before our included cruise on the steam ship Sir Walter Scott. Sailing on this beautifully restored, historic steam ship is the ideal way to enjoy the stunning scenery celebrated in Sir Walter Scott’s poem ‘ The Lady of the Lake’. After disembarking, we continue our journey over the ‘Dukes Pass’ to Loch Lomond, where we will have a short stop on the ‘Bonny, Bonny Banks’.

Glen Coe & ObanToday we experience some of the most dramatic Highland landscapes in Scotland. We start by climbing to the wild expanse of Rannoch Moor, a vast stretch of land composed of blanket bog, lochans, rivers, and rocky outcrops, and one of the last remaining wildernesses in Europe. Next, we descend from the Moor into Glen Coe, guarded by the conical peak of ‘Buchaille Etive Mor’ and flanked by towering cliffs and buttresses. There will be time to stop and take photos, or just take in the stunning scenery. Then we take the coast road to Oban, where there will be time to explore the many shops, or perhaps visit the War and Peace Museum or Oban Distillery. We return to the hotel in the afternoon via Loch Etive, Loch Awe and Glen Lochy.

Dundee Discovery and V&A Museum (Discovery ticket included)When we heard that the V&A Museum, the world’s leading museum of art and design, was opening its much-anticipated £80 million museum in Dundee, we just had to go and look! We have included it as a first for coach tour customers in 2019 and will give you a chance to see designs from Scotland’s past, present and future. Perched on the banks of the Tay, this impressive building is designed to make it look like it is over the water. Alongside, on the Dundee waterfront, is the Royal Research Ship (RRS) Discovery; the ship built in Dundee in which Captain Scott of the Antarctic carried out his heroic voyage. Entry to this fascinating ship and Discovery Point museum are included on this exciting new excursion.

Kyles of Bute & InverarayToday we head to south Argyll to the pretty little village of Tighnabruaich. Here, off the main tourist routes, we stop on the coast road for a breath-taking vista across the Kyles of Bute and can see over the Isle of Bute and across to Arran. We then follow the shores of Loch Fyne to Inveraray, with its beautiful lochside setting and many attractions. You may wish to visit the castle, seat of the Duke of Argyll, or perhaps the famous Jail Museum to get a taste of prison life in days gone by. There are plenty of shops and eateries to sample as you wander the main street.

Oban & LorneAfter breakfast we head back to the coast, arriving at the shores of Loch Etive. We cross the Falls of Lora by the Connel bridge. The falls are created at this narrow point by a lip of rock left behind by the last ice age that holds back the huge body of water in the loch, until the tide turns and the water all rushes out again. We make a circuit around inner Loch Creran, the next sea loch north of Loch Etive, before heading back to Connel and into the busy port of Oban. Gateway to the numerous Hebridean Isles, Oban is also known for its seafood and cafes. You may also wish to visit the War & Peace Museum which is run by volunteers or take a tour of Oban Distillery (with a wee dram of course!) or climb to McCaigs Tower or Pulpit Hill for wonderful views over the bay and beyond.

Glen Coe & Loch NessWe head north from Tyndrum, stopping at the Black Mount to look back at the majestic landscape of mountains and lochs that we have just left behind. Then on over the wilds of Rannoch Moor and through Glen Coe to reach the coast at Loch Linnhe. We follow the coast towards Fort William and Spean Bridge. After a brief stop, we follow the Great Glen (the huge geological fault line that splits the Highlands in two) and the route of the Caledonian Canal to reach the head of Loch Ness at Fort Augustus. Here you may wish to take a guided cruise on the loch to search for Nessie, or just watch boats navigate the canal locks. After lunch we head back with a stop at the Commando memorial above Spean Bridge, affording views towards Ben Nevis and the Mamore mountains.

A tour of the House is included, and you will be amazed at the magnificent Victorian Gothic architecture. The Bute Collection is one of the foremost private collections of artworks and artefacts in the UK, which, together with the stunning architecture makes this visit an inspiration for the soul and the senses.

Dumfries House and Lunch (Tour & lunch included)Dumfries House is one of Britain’s most beautiful stately homes. Set in a stunning 2,000-acre estate, the 18th century house with its unrivalled collection of original furniture has something for everyone. We start by climbing to the wild expanse of Rannoch Moor, a vast stretch of land composed of blanket bog, lochans, rivers, and rocky outcrops, and one of the last remaining wildernesses in Europe. We have included a tour of the castle and time to have a look around the beautiful gardens and gift shop. In the afternoon, we head down the glen to Pitlochry, one of Scotland’s most popular resorts. Train to Fort William, then ObanWe take the train to Fort William on part of the West Highland Line that shares the Hogwarts Express. The town is a major tourist centre at the foot of Ben Nevis. From the train you see some famous spots from the window, including the mystical Rannoch Moor, the place where Death Eaters board the train in the movie ‘Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 1’. In the afternoon we visit the seaside town of Oban, which is so much more than a port - it’s a thriving town which is well worth exploring. Amble the seaside streets, try samples in the chocolate shop and distillery, visit the ivy-clad castle and the town’s fascinating museum, and fill up on a lunch of smashing seafood and walk up to McCaig’s Tower for great views across Oban and the Inner Hebrides.

Glen Coe and Glenfinnan ViaductAfter a magical breakfast we visit Glen Coe with its dramatic landscape and volcanic origins featured as background shots throughout the Prisoner of Azkaban as well as various other Harry Potter films. However, it’s the iconic girl power moment when Hermione smashes Malfoy in the face which makes this location perhaps the most memorable of all. Next, we visit Glenfinnan and the viaduct; the 380 metres long and 31 metres high Victorian Railway Bridge is instantly recognisable from that opening scene in the Chamber of Secrets. The only thing this image is missing is Harry and Ron flying overhead in the Weasley’s magical Ford Anglia car. The head of the Loch Shiel is also the setting for where Harry encounters a Dementor for the very first time in the Prisoner of Azkaban, when the Hogwarts Express stops on the bridge. In the afternoon we visit the world-famous Commando Monument near Spean Bridge, erected to commemorate the service and sacrifice of the men and women who served their countries. The Monument is a major landmark and the views of Ben Nevis and the range of mountains which cross the eastern sky are amazing.

EdinburghThe capital of Scotland where J.K Rowling first began her Potter plotting way back in the early 90’s. Harry Potter fans would be mad to miss the distinct parallels Edinburgh’s medieval architecture, stony streets and winding alleys draw to the settings of the Harry Potter series. It was in the quaint cafés of Edinburgh where J.K first put pen to paper, crafting the opening chapters to what would become one of the most enchanting fantasy novels of all time: Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone. The Elephant House, self-branded as ‘The Birthplace of Harry Potter’, was J.K’s favourite café to get creative. Overlooking Edinburgh Castle, The Elephant House is where the magical world of witches and wizards was imagined. However, whilst much of The Chamber of Secrets and The Prisoner of Azkaban was written here, it’s actually Spoon café (then known as Nicholas Café) where J.K wrote the opening chapters of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. Either way, both cafés offer a chance to sit back in the surroundings of where it all began … whilst indulging on coffee & cakes of course. You can also see JK Rowling’s handprints set in stone at the Edinburgh City Chambers on the Royal Mile.

Autumn Tours | September - November 2019

Our newly acquired Muthu Fort William Hotel has made this exciting new tour possible. We reach the west coast’s ‘sea-food capital’ town of Oban on the first day, but it is our next excursion to the Isle of Skye that is the real highlight of this tour. The route through some of the finest Highland scenery to get to Skye is rewarding enough, but the Cuillin Mountains on the island are the real prize. We view them from many directions as we head to the picturesque harbour town of Portree. Next, we have a day at leisure in Fort William, followed by a day trip to Inverness and an included cruise on Loch Ness. A truly memorable Highland experience.

ObanAfter breakfast we follow the shores of Loch Linnhe along the coast road to Oban. There are fine views along the way of distant hills and nearby islands, including striking views of Castle Stalker, built by the Stewart Clan in the 15th century. We arrive in Oban with plenty of time for refreshment and to explore this bustling harbour town. In the afternoon we return via Tyndrum and Glen Coe to complete a memorable day out.

Isle of SkyeThe Isle of Skye is a wonderfully scenic destination, but we pass equally breath-taking scenery on the way. Heading up from Glen Garry there are wonderful vistas to behold, and further delights along Loch Cluanie and down Glen Shiel, site of the last battle against foreign troops on British soil, in 1719. We pass Eilean Donan castle and stop at the Kyle of Lochalsh before taking the road bridge over to Skye. We view the Cuillin mountains and have time to explore in Portree before making the return trip.

At Leisure in Fort WilliamToday we have the chance to explore Fort William and surroundings, or just take time to relax at the hotel.

Loch Ness Cruise & Inverness (cruise included)Following the route of the Caledonian Canal today brings us along the Great Glen to Fort Augustus at the southern end of Loch Ness. There is an included cruise, on a modern, well-equipped vessel with all necessary amenities and excellent commentary. Then we follow the shores of Loch Ness to spend time exploring Inverness, capital of the Highlands with its Victorian Market, castle and cathedral; this city really packs a lot into a small space!

A perfect festive treat before Christmas, this tour gives you a great mix of Scotland’s best town and country destinations. We marvel at Glen Coe’s historic and dramatic scenery before spending time in Fort William, known as Scotland’s ‘outdoor capital’. Next, we visit the real capital city of Edinburgh, with its myriad of interesting shops, cafes and attractions, all framed by its famous skyline, dominated by the castle. The next day we travel to Oban to enjoy all that this pretty west-coast harbour town has to offer. Finally, we visit the traditional capital of Argyll, Inveraray, before heading to Loch Lomond Shores; a popular visitor destination. Here you may want to indulge in some Christmas shopping to round off your festive tour!

Glen Coe & Fort WilliamOur first excursion takes us over the wild landscapes of Rannoch Moor, from where we descend through Glen Coe, surely Scotland’s most historic and dramatic glen. We spend time in Fort William and there is an option to visit a local museum of geological curiosities, including crystals, fossils and gemstones.

Edinburgh (6-day only)We depart a bit earlier today to make the most of our time in Scotland’s capital city. Compact, but perfectly formed with the castle dominating its famous skyline, Edinburgh presents the visitor with so many options, you will be spoilt for choice. Your driver will drop you in the centre from where you can explore in any direction for New Town, Old Town or perhaps some world-class retail therapy! Look out for the Kelpies sculptures and the famous bridges over the forth on the way there and back.

ObanToday we follow Glen Lochy down to Dalmally and Loch Awe, before reaching the coast at Loch Etive. Passing the Falls of Lora, we soon arrive in Oban, known as ‘Gateway to the Isles’ due to its busy harbour with ferries serving the numerous Hebridean Islands. Apart from the attractive harbour and sea-front area with shops and cafes, you may wish to visit the distillery or the War & Peace Museum, which is run by volunteers. We return early to the hotel with time to relax before dinner.

Inveraray & Lomond Shores We stop at Inveraray for refreshment and a chance to explore its shops, cafes and attractions before continuing to Loch Lomond. At the southern end of the loch we visit Lomond Shores, a tourist destination that offers several attractions including boat trips and the Lomond SEA LIFE centre. The centre also has some very good shops; ideal for some Christmas shopping to round off your festive tour!

This must be accompanied by a payment of £10 to cover our administrative costs, plus costs we incur in making the amendment. Alterations cannot be made within 6 weeks of departure and any such request for an alteration will be treated as a cancellation of the original booking and will be subject to the cancellation charges set out in paragraph below. Some arrangements cannot be changed without paying a cancellation charge of up to 100% of the ticket cost.

6. Transferring your bookingYou can transfer your booking to somebody else, but the person must satisfy all the conditions of the holiday and you must inform us either by letter or email no less than 7 days before departure. This is in addition to (and does not affect) the separate liability of the transferee to us.

Your cancellation will take effect from the date on which we or our agent receive your written confirmation of your cancellation. You must also return any tickets or vouchers you have received. A reduction in room occupancy may increase the charges for the remaining passengers by the application of supplements for low occupancy of rooms. Where bought in supplies, such as ferries, hotel accommodation etc have been bought in on your behalf, and where the terms and conditions of the supplier are non-refundable, these products will be charged to you at the full retail rate. If this applies, the non-refundable items will be deducted from your holiday costs and the following scale of charges will be applied to the remainder:

11. Our CoachesWe will always use our reasonable endeavours to provide a coach to the specification in our brochure or advert but reserve the right to substitute an alternative vehicle should there be unforeseen circumstances. There is a seating plan but, in some cases, operational reasons may require a coach with a different configuration. We reserve the right to alter a coach seating plan and allocate seats other than those booked. Single passengers may be required to share a double seat with other single passengers. When your booking is confirmed, you will be offered the best seats that are available at that time. If you feel that you require two seats, then these must be booked and paid for in advance, at the time of booking. If you fail to do this and it transpires that the seat allocated to you is insufficient for your needs and there is no alternative seating available, then you will be refused access to the coach and any payments made will be liable to forfeiture.

Specific seats will not be allocated on coaches operating a feeder service between joining points and main holiday departure points or on coaches that carry out transfers between airports, seaports etc.
