Please read this manual carefully and also observe the instructions on the following page. Always keep this manual in the immediate vicinity of the machine so that it is available when needed. In addition to this manual, the complete documentation package also consists of the following: Project specific “Connection Schedule” drawings. Project specific “Piping Installation” drawings. 4 Operator Safety

All personnel responsible for operating the Microseparator™ should be required to read these safety and cleaning procedures prior to operation. Remember that centrifuges incorporate rotating components that should be treated with the same caution as other rotating devices. Important safety devices are built into each Microseparator. Please carefully observe the following safety notices.

1. Only qualified electricians or duly trained personnel under the

instruction and supervision of a qualified electrician may do any work on electrical equipment and systems.

2. Always disconnect and lock out the power source before working on or near the Microseparator™ rotor or drive motor.

3. Motor controls should conform to instructions given in the installation manual provided with the Microseparator. Motor controllers must be securely and adequately grounded according to NEC and local codes of the specific area.

4. Do not operate the Microseparator™ if severe vibration is observed. Generally, incomplete rotor cleaning causes vibration. Do not operate the Microseparator™ without a properly operating vibration switch.

5. The Polyjector must be operated with the cover on and a properly working pneumatic limit switch.

6. Do not place hands or feet in the Polyjector, to avoid being caught by the pneumatic arm.

7. Practice good housekeeping and maintain a Safety Training and Safety Equipment Operation/Maintenance Program for all employees.

7 Maintenance Recommendations

Regular preventative maintenance will help ensure efficient, trouble free service for many years. Emphasis should always be given to proper regulation of flow to and clear passage of flow from the Microseparator.

7.1 Daily Inspections

Twice per shift (minimum) clean the screen in the screenbox. Verify compressed air supply Check the flowmeter to make sure the needle is in the green band. Inspect and empty the sludge drum to verify that the Microseparator™ is discharging sludge. Confirm during normal operation the tank is overflowing from the clean to dirty Inspect the level of the coolant container, refill as needed. Inspect the level of the additive container (LohFoam3 or PolyLube), refill as needed.

7.2 Weekly Inspections

Measure the coolant concentration with a refractometer Mind the coolant concentration level in the coolant bucket and determine the approx. time it takes to use up the bucket. Confirm chip separator brush is stroking effectively Check lower cabinet drains in the centrifuge to make sure it is free of solids. Remove the screen and clean thoroughly.

7.3 Monthly

Check the following: 1. Flow rate to machine: measure manually at the effluent return piping.

Adjust if necessary. See Flow Rate Information Sections. 2. Oil supply at the main air regulator. (if applicable) 3. Drive belts for proper tension and wear. 4. Feed Cycle Timer setting: solids level in feed will change with

operating conditions: i.e. production levels, use of filtration equipment, etc. Properly set, the machine will discharge at or near rotor capacity. See Control Panel Functions and Cleaning Frequency Calculation Sections for information

5. Check the Chip Separator nylon brush for wear.



6. Check the Chip Separator screen for wear and clean if necessary. 7. Check the Chip Separator pneumatic arm. Tighten if loose.

7.4 Two Years

Replace: 1. Drive belts 2. Stopper assembly 3. Check, and replace if necessary, the bearings. Properly operated, the

Microseparator™ will not require new bearings after two years, but many will find it convenient to replace them at this time. Exchange rotor assemblies are available from Bazell Technologies.

4. Drive chain tension and adjust if necessary. 5. Alignment of slide shaft socket tool and scraper drive hex nut. This

procedure is essential anytime the rotor is removed from machine. Consult Bazell Technologies for proper procedure.

6. Stopper assembly limit switch for proper actuation. Switch should engage immediately upon downward movement of stopper assembly.

7. Inspect air lines and fittings for wear/damage. 8. Inspect vibration switch for proper leveling. Adjust if necessary. 9. Check vibration damper bolts and lag bolts for tightness. 10. Check condition all hose, hose clamps and pipe. Clean or replace as

necessary.

8 Recommended Spare Parts

Bazell Technologies stocks extensive spares many of which are available for same day shipment worldwide. However, due to the important nature of maintaining production during component failure, certain key spares are recommended for stocking by the machine owner. Coolant supply pumps for generators, Pump Station main pump, and Chip Separator with Tank pumps are especially important examples of parts that should be maintained as spares. Refer to appropriate parts list in this manual for actual part numbers.
