Exciting 2017 Set to Follow Strong 2016
As we close out 2016 and look forward to 2017, we see strong results and exciting opportunities.
This past year delivered on many of
the investments we made in 2015. Those investments were largely in two areas—people and technology. The “payoff” of those investments is clear in 2016.
While final audited numbers won’t be available until our next issue, we project we will close out the year with assets of roughly 325,000,000. That would be asset growth of about 7%. That is strong and steady growth.
Our membership has grown to approximately 29,000, and our loan portfolio has grown to about $252,000,000. That’s membership growth of about 4% and loan growth of about 9%.
This shows that Maine Savings continues its path of strong, but steady, growth over time. And that sets us up for an exciting 2017!

Get Up to $15,000 in Downpayment and Closing Costs Assistance in 2017In 2016, Maine Savings members received over $100,000 in assistance for downpayments and closings costs through our Equity Builder Program (EBP). The program helps bridge the gap for home buyers who are close to being able to buy a home, but who may need a little bit of help.
Funds for 2017 will be available beginning in March. Contact one of our Loan Officers now for more information.
About the Equity Builder Program*
• To be eligible, you must meet income level requirements**
• Recipients must attend homebuyer education/counseling program
• Limited time program—grant funds are first-come, first-served
• You can use this program with the CU Promise 90 loan!
• Maine Savings will reimburse appraisal cost for loan closed with this EBP program

*Grant is provided by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston through its Equity Builder Program. **Buyers eligible to receive assistance through the EBP are individuals and households earning no more than 80 percent of the area median income, based on their future address. To be eligible to receive assistance through the EBP, buyers must complete a home-buyer-counseling program administered by an agency designated by the EBP-approved member financial institution. The program must include pre-and post-purchase counseling. Interest would not accrue on the grant and the proceeds would only be due if the property is sold within the first five years of home ownership. May not be combined with any other type of down payment programs.

FROM THE PRESIDENT Exciting 2017 Set to Follow Strong 2016
continued from front page
First for 2017, we expect to continue to realize the return on our previous efforts. Growth should continue at a steady pace.
So what’s in store for 2017 that’s exciting? You saw in the last issue of the Owner’s Guide that Maine Savings has purchased an office building in Portland.
We are working now on our strategy for how best to utilize that building to the benefit of you, our members.
First up will likely be deploying some loan officers to begin loan operations in the Portland market. But close on the heels of ramping up loan operations will be creating a retail presence to drive new membership. With a changing
mindset of what people want in branches, we are thinking through what a Maine Savings “branch” might be. Stay tuned—there are some interesting possibilities.
Have a safe and happy new year!

You can access both the loan applications and the calculators
from the main menu.
Mobile Banking Now Includes Loan Applications and Calculators!Apply for a Loan from Your PhoneYou can now apply for a personal loan, an auto loan, or a credit card right from the Maine Savings Mobile Banking app! The app takes care of most of the input for you, pulling from your account. So you don’t have to fill in a lot of information—most of it is already there! You can also make loan payment calculations before applying.
Once you select “Apply for a Loan,” you’ll choose the type of loan.
The calculators are an easy way to determine your loan payments
before you apply.
Note: when you begin the process,
remember the app is pulling a lot
of data and is using a lot of security
protocols. That can slow the load a
little bit. So be patient as it loads, as
the time you save in the end will be
well worth it!

Ending Hunger Walking Tour Makes Four Stops at Maine Savings BranchesWith Maine ranked first for food insecurity in New England and 12th in the nation, the Maine Credit Union League and longtime ending hunger advocate Brenda Davis of BBC Opportunity Center have teamed up once again for the 15th Annual Maine CUs’ Ending Hunger Walking Tour to show solidarity and support for those suffering from hunger in Maine. This year the Tour visited our Bar Harbor (Jackson Laboratory), Corinth, Milo, and North Vassalboro branches.
