1.1 IntroductionThe internship program of BBA is a partial requirement to take test of real life challenge conducted by the intern. It is the important part of BBA program. This program is three month duration. During the period I have work closely with the employee of Pabna corporate branch. This report presents the outcomes of the study during the internship- Janata bank Limited. I was assigned to topic Deposit and Loan Management Of Janata Bank Limited.Internship report prepared as a requirement for the completion of the BBA program of the Pabna University of Science &Technology. The primary goal of internship is to provide an on the job exposure to the student and an opportunity for translation of theoretical conceptions in real life situation. Students are placed in enterprises, organizations, financial institutions, research institutions as well as development projects. The program covers a period of 8-12 weeks of organizational attachment. After the completion of Four-year academic BBA program I, Md. Rakib Hasan, Student of Pabna University of Science & Technology was placed in Janata Bank Bangladesh Limited for the internship program. As a requirement for the completion of the program I need to submit a report, which includes Deposit and Loan Management Of Janata Bank Limited.

1.3 Rational of the ReportBank is a financial institution, which accepts money from its customers as deposit and gives money as loan to the borrowers. A bank is financial intermediary a dealer in loans and debts. After completing my Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), I wanted to complete my Internship program from a reputed Bank which would be helpful for my future professional career. I got the opportunity to perform my internship in the Janata Bank Limited. I was sent to Pabna Corporate Branch. It was three months practical orientation program. I have selected General Banking department of Janata Bank Limited because here all Banking Activities occur. The report entitled General Banking Activities and Performance Evaluation of Janata Bank Limited. has been prepared as a partial fulfillment of BBA program authorized by the supervisor, Department of Business administration, Pabna University of Science & Technology. In todays world only academic education does not make a student perfect to become competitive with the outside world. This also provides an opportunity to the students to minimize the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge. Students are required to work on a specific topic based on their theoretical and practical knowledge acquired during the period of the internship program and then submit it to the teacher. That is why I have prepared this report and this report is originated as the requirement of JBL.1.4 Objective of the ReportThe primary objectives of the report are as follows:

It is a gigantic task to study the whole Deposit & Loan Management and evaluate its performance. The views expressed in this report are likely to be limited by my lack of deeper understanding. In spite of the whole hearted efforts some limitations which were acted as a barrier to conduct the program. The limitations were:(a) Problems of Data collectionJBL (Pabna corporate branch), Now Using Manual process and slightly use online to reserve the data and there is no enough soft copy of data .So there were shortages of sufficient data for comparing.(b) Problems of time constraintThe duration of my Internship program was three months. This time was notenough for me to understand the general overall banking activities.(c) Problems of Banks, confidentialitySometime bankers are not interested to serve the necessary data to the Internee. Because the data are very secret to the bank and thebank confidentially keeps the data.(d) Problems of depth of knowledge-During internship period there are some lacks of depth banking knowledge. In other hand there are some lacks of analytical ability for writing such kind of report.(e) No remuneration was providedThey would not provide any remuneration even TA, DA for doing internship in JBL.Without those, Following Limitation also makes hamper to conduct this Report:(f)The staffs of the branch were sometimes so busy that they could not help us all time.(g)Preparing internship report is really troublesome.(h) This type of report preparation is expensive.(i) Collection of data was not smooth.(j)Analyzing with financial data is much more confusing and complicated than any other data.(k)Secrecy of management.(l)Lack of knowledge and experience among the officials.

CHAPTERFOURDeposit Behaviour

4.1IntroductionA commercial bank as a financial intermediary in an economy. The main two tasks of a commercial bank are to collect deposit at lower interest rate and to provide loan at a higher rate with a view to ensure its survival and to mobilize countrys resources. Bank collects idle money from people and turns it to investment through its lending and borrowing operation. By this way bank becomes benefited and the national economy of the country becomes enriched. Side by side, people becomes able to hold their money safely in a bank and receive interest from it. Bangladesh is a developing country of the third world. Commercial banks all over the country largely contribute to develop our economy. Without the help of commercial banks, it is not possible to collect sufficient capital for national capital formation. From this point of view, I was assigned to do an analytical discussion on Deposit Behavior of Janata Bank Ltd, Pabna Corporate Branch, Pabna.4.2 Types of DepositDeposit is considered as lifeblood of a bank. No bank can run without deposit. A bank has to collect deposits from various sources in order to operate its activities successfully as well as to satisfy the national objectives. As a branch of a nationalized commercial bank. JBPCBP satisfy the above mentioned objectives. The branch has deposits of the following types:1. Currents Deposits1. Saving Deposits1. Fixed Deposits1. The interest rate on fixed deposit varies according to the duration of deposits.

Characteristics of Fixed Deposit1. Fixed deposit may be of different terms.1. The bank issues a receipt rather the check to the depositor. The receipt is other fixed deposit receipt (FDR).1. FDR is the most transferable.1. FDR can be used as security against loan.1. Interest rate on fixed deposit is usually higher than other kinds of deposit.1. Bank can invest fixed deposits for the long term.1. Fixed deposit is the suitable for retired person, Insurance holder.4.2.4Special Notice Deposit (SND).This item includes the deposits which are deposited for a period of seven days to eighty nine days. Savings deposit places the second highest position in deposit by the branch.4.5 Tend of Total depositHere I have tried to identify a trend of total deposit of the branch. I have considered the data given in the table below:Table 4.2Total Deposit for the period from 2010 to 2014:YearTotal Amount of Deposits

CHAPTERFIVELoan & Advances

5.1IntroductionJanata Bank Ltd is a nationalized commercial bank. The main task of a commercial bank is to collect deposit in a comparatively low rate of interest and to provide loan is a comparatively high rate of interest. A bank has to bear deposit cost and administrative cost by its earning from granting loans. If it fails to bear these costs by its earning from granting loans its business will be closed. In my internship program. I was assigned to make a critical analysis of loan management of Janata bank Ltd, Pabna Corporate Branch, Pabna.5.2Loans and Advances Janata bank Ltd, Pabna Corporate Branch, Pabna. borrows deposit from depositor on a contractual interest and provides loans to the borrowers against predetermined interest. Janata bank Ltd, Pabna Corporate Branch, Pabna mainly sanctions the following types of loans and advances to the customers:

Loans and Advances

SHBLCCSRural creditCash CreditSOD

5.3Brief Discussion of Different loans & AdvancesJBPCBP collect money from the people at certain rate of interest payment to them and lend money to people at certain rate of interest more than the rate of collection money. This branch sanctioned the following types of loan and advances to the customer.5.3.1Security OverdraftSecurity Overdraft (SOD) is a fluctuating account where the balance facilities are allowed in current account only. Opening of an overdraft arrangement enables a customer to draw money above his own balance up to the limit stipulated. Overdraft is issued against FDR, DPS & JBDPS. This branch issues overdraft up to 80% of FDR, DPS & JBDPS. JBPCBP issued Security overdraft during 2010 to 2014 is shown in Table 5.1 Also, There is a comparison of SOD and total amount of loan. As we can see from the table and graph, the SOD has no specific pattern. The amount of SOD is highest in year 2014 and lowest in year 2010. We cannot decide, whether it has a seasonal or cyclical pattern as we do not have sufficient information related to Security overdraft.5.3.2Cash Credit (CC) This is a special type of advances allowed through a drawing account known as cash credit account which is operated in exactly the same way as current account on which an overdraft has been sanctioned. Bank allows cash credit to genuine traders, exporters and manufactures or industrialist who are highly reputed, credit worthy and sufficiently experienced and proficient in there profession. At present the interest rate is 14%. Cash credit is allowed against pledge or mortgage of movable property this branch sanctioned cash credit from 2010 to 2014 as shown in Table- 5.2.Table- 5.2Cash CreditYearAmount (Lacks Tk.)Total Loan (Lacks Tk.)% of CC to Total

6.3 ConclusionBanking is a financial intermediation process. Banks take deposit at a cost and lend at a higher rate to cover its operational expenses and make some profit. In this process, if loans are stuck-up, the entire process is jeopardise. As a part of my internship program, I was sent to Janata Bank Ltd, Pabna Corporate branch, Pabna for three months training. There I gathered practical knowledge about general banking as well as loans and advances position of bank and my study is concentrated on Deposit and Loan Management.I have discussed about my special topic in chapter four & five on the basis of data and information collected from bank authority. The banking business is one of the most challenging professions now a day. To survive in the competition, it needs to provide better customer service and product. JBPCBP has one principal limitation, and that is, it is a government owned bank. So, it has to follow orders from the head office. It cannot do any thing it wants. So, even though, it may have opportunities, it cannot implement those at its disposal. However, as one of the leading commercial bank, JBPCBP is playing an important role in its area of business in mobilizing financial resources through deposit collection and loan disbursement. It helps creating and maintaining a sound business environment in its business area.In my internship program, I have analyzed total deposit position, account wise deposit position, deposit composition of the branch. In analyzing the data provided by the bank, it is seen that, the deposit position of the branch is satisfactory.
