Brief Description of Undergraduate Courses Taught: (Course Title – Code: Description) 1 Course MDSG 452

(Introduction to Surgery for the 4th year Medical Students) -‐ Four rotations per year, each of six weeks duration. -‐ This is an introductory course for general surgery. It aims to expose the student to clinical skills, clinical diagnosis and the patho-‐physiology of surgical diseases. -‐ Written and clinical examinations are required at the end of the rotation. 2 Course MDSG 552 (Principles of Surgery for the 6th year Medical Students) -‐ Four rotations per year, each of nine weeks duration. -‐ An OSCE examination is a requirement at the end of the course followed Final Certifying Examination. [1990-‐date]

3 Course MDSG 366 (Surgery for Nursing Students) -‐ Two rotations per year, each of 16 weeks duration. It is composed of lectures and MCQ examination at the end of the rotation. [1990-‐date]

4 Parallel medicine (Problem based learning) Involved in Problem based learning for students of the newly established medical school at King Faisal University [2004-‐2012]

5 Postgraduate

Involved with the joint postgraduate teaching for Surgical Residents registered with the Saudi Board, King Faisal University Fellowship, Arab Board and the Royal Colleges of Surgeons in UK and Ireland. -‐ Training of residents in surgical techniques at various levels including specialized skills (Laparoscopic Surgery). -‐ Clinical teaching: this includes service, bedside teaching, grand rounds, etc. -‐ Active participation and supervision in clinical presentations, seminars, symposia, journal clubs, morbidity and mortality meetings, clinical-‐ pathology meetings, surgical audit and clinical research.
