Mag Instrument is the only flashlight company withsignificant market share that still manufactures its entireline of flashlights in the United States. Unlike itscompetitors, Mag Instrument has chosen not tooutsource the manufacturing of its flashlights to foreigncountries in order to take advantage of cheap labor andless stringent environmental standards, which may alsoresult in inferior quality. The outsourcing of manufacturingby other U.S. companies has caused millions of jobs inthe United States to be lost. Indeed, if Mag Instrumenthad chosen the path of other flashlight companies, thejobs of hundreds of its employees in Ontario, California,would have been lost - with corresponding job losses, nodoubt, at other U.S. companies that supply parts,materials and services to Mag Instrument.
