Project Overview
• Combine K18841 and K21179• Widen OR217 SB to accommodate a continuous auxiliary lane from
OR10 to OR99W
• Modify Allen Blvd. and Denney Rd. southbound interchange
configuration to split diamond with collector – distributor road
• Widen OR217 NB to accommodate a continuous auxiliary lane from
72nd Ave entrance ramp to SW Scholls Ferry Road exit ramp
• Widen OR217 NB to accommodate an additional auxiliary lane from
OR99W to SW Greenburg Road
• Widen northern SW Hall Blvd structure over OR217
• Replace southern SW Hall Blvd structure over OR217

Northbound and Southbound:The preliminary list of proposed hours below may encroach into daylight hours and require
Sunrise / Sunset Exceptions during portions of the year as per MPM Chapter 4, pg. 28
• Closure of Auxiliary Lane:
– Nightly, Sunday night through Friday morning: 10:00pm – 5:00am
– Friday night through Saturday morning: 10:00pm – 7:00am
– Saturday night through Sunday morning: 11:00pm – 8:00am
• Closure of Auxiliary Lane and Through Lane
– Nightly, Sunday night through Friday morning: 11:00pm – 5:00am
– Friday night through Saturday morning: 12:00am – 6:00am

OR 217 Full Closure Restrictions
The preliminary list of proposed hours below may encroach into daylight hours and require
Sunrise / Sunset Exceptions during portions of the year as per MPM Chapter 4, pg. 28
OR217 Northbound and Southbound Ramp Closure:• Nightly, Sunday night through Friday morning: 9:00pm – 5:00am
• Friday night through Saturday morning: 9:00pm – 7:00am
• Saturday night through Sunday morning: 10:00pm – 8:00am
OR217 Mainline Full Closure:• Required for removal of existing Hall Blvd. bridge, duration TBD
• Various directional or full closures at night as scheduled
Hall Boulevard @ southern crossing of OR217:• 6-7 month long full closure is currently proposed. Coordination with
City of Tigard is pending.

Detour Routes
• Long term detour: SW Hall Boulevard (Hwy 141) for
replacement of southern Hall bridge.
– Duration: 6-7 months
– Hwy 141 is a “Black and Yellow” (highly restricted) route on Freight
Mobility Map
– Hwy 141 currently carries approx. 10 trucks per day
• Short term detours:
– OR217 Mainline (both directions)
• Duration: Likely to be full weekend for removal of existing Hall Blvd. bridge
• Duration: 11pm to 4am for other closures
– All ramps, individually or in appropriate pairs
• Duration: varies depending on pavement needs, likely longer than 1 night duration

feet minimum between
barriers
• 11 foot lanes in certain
stages or phases in 3 lane
sections. 36 feet minimum
between barriers.
• Temporary vertical clearance
reductions are required by
work elements and lane
shifts (Reductions TBD)

Durations for each stage and phase of work are still being determined. Durations of
restrictions will be available before finalizing the Mobility Considerations Checklist
Ramp Traffic Shifts
• Stage construct ramps as much as possible.
– 16 feet minimum between barriers
• Sequence construction to facilitate traffic signal replacement
– Use flagging and night work when construction cannot replace the
signal maintaining continuously functional signal heads
• Closures only when required

Ramp Traffic Freight Restrictions
• Staged construction at Allen Boulevard and Denney Road
reduces ability for trucks to turn in these interchanges
– Certain stages / phases prevent WB-67 trucks from operating at these
locations
– WB-40 trucks can complete all allowed movements in all stages
• Width reduced to 16 feet between hard barriers
– This is most prevalent at Allen Boulevard and Denney Road due to work on
bridges where temporary widening is not feasible

Scholls Ferry Road Traffic Shifts
• Stage construction of a bridge rail retrofit and silica fume
concrete overlay of the bridge deck
• 28 feet between barriers
• Work zone speed reduction to 25 miles per hour (to be
requested, not yet approved)
• Stage 1 has one lane each direction on north side of
structure
• Stage 2 has one lane each direction on south side of
structure

Vertical Clearance
OR217 is:
• not a high route, but is a Reduction Review Route
– MPM Chapter 6, pgs. 58-60 define the coordination and communication
requirements for seeking approvals according to ORS 366.215
• currently substandard for vertical clearance at existing bridges
– Current corridor clearance is between 16 feet and 17 feet
