Page 5: “Mac Basics for Music Production 101”

Initial plan & final product: Differences

• Major differences–Software tools used–Format of quizzes–Limited interactivity of video tutorials

Page 6: “Mac Basics for Music Production 101”

Initial plan & final product: Differences

• Initial plan: use Camtasia Studio (Windows)– Record screen capture– Record narration– Edit– Create assessments, surveys– Table of contents– Clickable interactive hotspots within tutorials

Page 7: “Mac Basics for Music Production 101”

Initial plan & final product: Differences

• Final project: tools used– Screenflow for Mac : Screen capture and editing

• Can’t create quizzes• Can’t create hotspots or Flash interactivity

– Logic 8.0: recording and importing narration– Blackboard: Built-in quizzes

• Table of contents: Presented as within tutorial– Not fixed/interactive like within Camtasia

• No clickable hotspots within tutorial • Quizzes: built-in to Blackboard

– Used Blackboard’s image hotspot function for matching/ID questions

Example: Lesson 3: Quiz

• Sample multiple choice question:• “You can launch or run applications in the

Lessons learned

• Start early• Be Persistent• Have multiple SW tools available to

do job• Spend time learning CMS

Page 14: “Mac Basics for Music Production 101”

Lessons learned• Start early–Many false starts –First two clients dropped out–Leave time for technical problems• Couldn’t access 6358 Elluminate

sessions• Software needed to create

tutorials crashed

Page 15: “Mac Basics for Music Production 101”

Lessons learned• Be Persistent–Almost ready to give up and

drop the course–Found Dubspot after two

failed attempts–Now have paid employment

with Dubspot!

Page 16: “Mac Basics for Music Production 101”

Lessons learned• Have multiple SW tools

available to do job–Early March: Lost Windows

capability on my Mac–No time to reformat machine–Time spent researching,

learning more limited Mac SW

Page 17: “Mac Basics for Music Production 101”

Lessons learned• Spend time learning CMS–Locate existing resources –Initially overlooked quiz

features of Blackboard–Confusion with HTML and

formatting of text
