Mobility Points – Physical Infrastructure
Public Transport & new mobility services (NMS)
• Construction of mobility points as next steps from digital NMS towards physical infrastructure:
• -> spatial concentration of NMS & mobility businesses at public transport hubs (PT,
Carsharing, Bikesharing, bike parking services etc.)
• 1st mobility point will be opened in fall 2018 in Simmering within the EU-Horizon 2020 project

Thoughts on MaaS in Vienna
• The public sector should always keep the lead over infrastructure; data is one key
infrastructure element of the 21st century.
• A coordinated strategy (between city administration and „mobility provider“) for
keeping control over the necessary MaaS-framework conditions safeguards against
uncontrolled, primarily business driven mobility service development.
• MaaS asks the question about core responsibilities of the public sector.
• MaaS should be of advantage to overcome administrative borders.
• MaaS is prone to ignore environmental aspects as much as other strictly market
oriented services.
