Kindness consists of being helpful, thoughtful, caring, compassionate, and considerate. The holiday season is a time in which all of us can come together to spread good will and cheer. Together, as a community, we can spread some cheer here in Margate with simple daily acts of taking time each day to help someone else. In addition to our commitment to providing extraordinary academic initiatives, we also feel it is vitally important to reinforce the character traits and help instruct our students on some universal truths. As part of this commitment, we will be continuing to collect Toys for Tots through Friday, December 11 th . If you are able and willing to contribute, please send in a new unwrapped toy to school with your child. We will be donating all toys collected to the Salvation Army Marines Toy for Tots Program. In the spirit of the holidays, we eagerly await the holiday show performance by our chorus and drama clubs. The evening showcase will be held on Tuesday, December 15 th at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. We will then join the rest of the city at the Margate Winterfest on Friday, December 18 th starting at 6:00 p.m. near City Hall. Our chorus and drama club students will be performing selections from their holiday musical. We ask for everyone’s assistance in helping us encourage our students to attend school each day and to arrive to school on-time. Attendance is crucial to learning and excessive absences and tardiness reduce the impact of daily instruction and student performance. Please remember that school begins at 7:50 a.m. each morning and that if students are not in his/ her seat in the classroom by 8:00 a.m. then they are considered tardy. Finally, we congratulate each of our students on the honor roll and those students were designated as Kids of Character during the months of September and October. We have already recognized our intermediate students and look forward to recognize our primary students at the end of the second quarter. Happy Holidays Margate Families,

“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.” This quote by Mother Theresa reminds us all of the power of the words that we speak. This is true on a daily basis, however, resonates significantly with many during this holiday season. Our character trait for this month is kindness. As part of this commitment, we will be continuing to collect Toys for Tots through Friday, December 11th. If you are able and willing to contribute, please send in a new unwrapped toy to school with your child. We will be donating all toys collected to the Salvation Army Marines Toy for Tots Program.

In the spirit of the holidays, we eagerly await the holiday show performance by our chorus and drama

clubs. The evening showcase will be held on Tuesday, December 15th at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. We will then join the rest of the city at the Margate Winterfest on Friday, December 18th starting at 6:00

p.m. near City Hall. Our chorus and drama club students will be performing selections from their holiday musical.

We ask for everyone’s assistance in helping us encourage our students to attend school each day and to arrive to school on-time. Attendance is crucial to learning and excessive absences and tardiness reduce

the impact of daily instruction and student performance. Please remember that school begins at 7:50 a.m. each morning and that if students are not in his/her seat in the classroom by 8:00 a.m. then they are considered tardy.

Finally, we congratulate each of our students on the honor roll and those students were designated as Kids of Character during the months of September and October. We have already recognized our intermediate students and look forward to recognize our primary students at the end of the second quarter.

From our family to yours, we wish you the happiest and healthiest holiday season. May 2016 be a year full of great things for all of us!

Have a Great Holiday Season!Thomas J. Schroeder
