    1. Against which monarchy did Mexican people fight for and gained its independence on September, 16th, 1810?

    2. Was Miguel Hidalgo the priest who rang his churchs bells and exhorted

    the local Indians to be independent from Spain?

    3. When did Spanish Royalist forces capture Hidalgo and executed him?

    4. Was Hidalgo succeeded by Morelos, another priest a more able leader than

    the first one?

    5. Did Morelos call for a national congress in 1813, which declared Mexico to

    be independent from Spain and drafted a constitution?

    6. According to the Mexican History, Iturbide was the Spanish officer who

    joined forces with Vicente Guerrero and drafted the Iguala Plan. How was it?

    7. When did the Mexican forces triumph over the Spaniards and achieved

    independence for Mexico?

    8. What happened when the country was renamed as the Mexican Empire,

    and who was crowned as an emperor of Mexico?

    9. Did Iturbide prove unable to bring order and stability to the country as an emperor of Mexico?

  • 1. What did you know about the holiday that its celebrated in the first two days of November and its known as the Day of the Dead when you were a little one?

    2. Did you remember the first time when you and your family went to the cemetery to celebrate the Day of the Dead? By the way, how old were you?

    3. When was the first time that you visited the cemetery to take part in the celebration called the Day of the Dead, and tell me if you were scared looking at all the people there?

    4. Did all the towns people take part in the celebration and observing the Day of the Dead, or just a few?

    5. Was this celebration also observed to a lesser extent in the northern part of our country? Did you know that?

    6. What kind of ornaments did your family use to beautify the graves of your loved ones when you were a child?

    7. Did the people of your town wear something special for this event or celebration, perhaps wooden skull masks known as calacas, or did they get dressed with costumes such as la Catrina?

    8. How were the altars adorned for your deceased relatives, perhaps with candles, native flowers, some delicious food or something else that your relatives enjoyed when they were alive?

  • 9. What kind of offerings, presents or gifts did your family carry to put over the grave sites of your loved ones at night when you were a young adult?

    10. Finally, my last question: did you ever celebrate this holiday buying something like sugar-coated skulls or something like that, especially when you were a youngster?
