In this presentation we'll talk about what it means to take our masks off, be a little more vulnerable with each other in order to make room for our less than perfect selves. Attendees will leave with tools on navigating authentic lives and how to make room for others to do the same.

Intellectual climate is the convergence of social and academic environments that encourages students, staff, and faculty to engage in stimulating conversation and action outside the walls of the classroom. Because FSL is an integral part of Elon's social sphere, fraternities and sororities have the potential to be large contributors to intellectual climate on campus. This session aims to define and unpack intellectual climate and, in doing so, offer practical resources and ideas that organizations can use to strengthen Elon's intellectual climate.

L G B T Q I A I n c l u s i o n i n F r a t e r n i t y & S o r o r i t y L i f eBecca Johnson '17 Workshop

This workshop will address how to promote inclusivity for LGBTQIA students involved in FSL, which is a system fueled by traditional and heteronormative values. Although Elon was ranked #10 in the Campus Pride Index this year, there still seems to be a lack of conversation for members outside of LGBTQIA communities. Ideally, LGBTQIA students involved in FSL should be able to turn to their Greek organizations for support, but how many actually feel comfortable doing so? How can straight allies help combat these students' fear of being judged, labeled, and stereotyped? This workshop seeks to challenge participants to step out of their comfort zone and ponder these difficult questions.

Have you ever been frustrated by someone who didn’t communicate well? What would your organization look like if everyone communicated more effectively? With experience speaking to over 1,150 organizations and consulting professionals all over the world, Dr. Snyder has designed an interactive workshop that will demonstrate how your organization and/or team can enhance their communication skills and increase performance. Participants will leave with a significantly heightened awareness of their own communication style, how it’s perceived by others and how it impacts both their success and the entire organization.

Everyone has mental health, but not everyone has a mental illness. The stigma surrounding this often prevents individuals from speaking out about, and seeking help for their mental illness. Fraternity and sorority members are leaders on many college campuses, and therefore have the ability to break the stigma surrounding mental illness, so all college students feel capable to open up the conversation among their individual organizations, and to their entire college community.

Have you ever wondered what the National Pan-Hellenic Council is? What is their history and purpose, or the meaning behind their calls, colors and strolls? This session will explain the history, mission, and cultural implications of the Divine 9 and the importance of its organizations on college campuses and in the community. Greek leaders will walk away with information on how to effectively collaborate with the NPHC on Elon’s campus while also understanding their cultural background and significance.

Citizenship, the Social Change Model of Leadership’s seventh ‘C,’ calls for individuals to see themselves as part of a larger whole. How can you recognize your role as a citizen, or as an agent of change? How can your chapter move beyond merely membership to a citizen’s mindset andresponsibility towards others? This session will discuss ways to develop agency while working in collaborative groups to create positive social change in your communities.

In this workshop, we will be discussing strategies for connecting chapter members in crisis to on-campus and chapter resources and handling student disclosures of mental health concerns or violence. Dr. Kevin Snyder is a motivational speaker and author with a PASSION for helping individuals dream bigger

than ever before and create a clear action plan to manifest results. He coaches and trains leaders of all

levels to fill the gap between where they are and where they want to be.

Through his professional speaking career, Kevin has

presented for over 500,000 people in all 50 states and numerous countries. His audiences range from high school to college to corporate. Prior to speaking full-

time, Kevin worked for his national fraternity as a leadership consultant. He also held a career in

university Student Affairs and worked in positions such as Director of Student Activities, Coordinator of

Orientation Services, and Greek Life Advisor. He most recently served as the Dean of Students for High Point

University.

Kevin is also the Senior Vice President and Founding Partner of Write Way Publishing Company, helping

aspiring writers become published authors. He and his company have successfully coached over 100 authors

in publishing and in professional speaking.

undergraduate degree was earned in Marine Biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. At UNCW, Kevin joined his fraternity, Delta Tau Delta, and continues to be involved as a fraternity volunteer and

chapter advisor.

Kevin was honored by TEDx in 2013 to present, ‘The Ripple Effect,’ which was the largest TEDx event in the South. Visit his website, www.KevinCSnyder.com, to watch his TEDx talk. Kevin served as the curator for TEDxRaleigh in 2016 and continues to be a speaker
