My week has been packed full of opportunities for me to meet parents, children and visitors; celebrating all that makes me so proud of our school and especially the children within it. In Year 6, the destination school offers have been flying in and I wish to express how proud I am of all our Year 6 children. It has been a pleasure to see them support and encourage each other throughout this process. As teachers we are very aware of how pressured this time can be for the children and work hard to minimise this in the school environment so it is very rewarding to see them so relaxed and happy; talking about their experiences and the options ahead of them. The offers and acceptances will not be finalised until March, when we will publish a list of offered destination schools, however I can already confidently say that this has been the most successful year for independent school offers in our school’s history. This is testament to each of those children who we know have acted as fantastic ambassadors for our school and worked incredibly hard throughout their time at Oakfields. I congratulate them all! I must also thank you – our parents, family and friends. We have had two weeks of coffee mornings and stay and plays which have resulted in us welcoming over 140 visitors into our school. To meet with so many of you, share some of our pedagogy and for you to spend time observing learning in the classrooms is yet another reason for celebration. Your support is invaluable. It paves the way for happy and successful learners throughout Oakfields and builds relationships between the school and home that are invaluable. It goes without saying that none of the above would be possible without the amazing staffing body we have here at Oakfields. Their commitment to their roles within the school and the overwhelming sense of purpose and enjoyment in the children’s progress has meant that our school is genuinely a wonderful place to be. I am sure you join me in wishing them all a well-deserved break from the alarm clock next week! So all that is left to say is have a fabulous half term! Mrs Carroll Headteacher

General Information

What skills/strategies the children have masteredWhat subjects areas they are making progress in Provide them with some targets to work on for theremainder of the spring term.

There will be 1:1 children's consultation sessions whenwe return from half term. These sessions will take placeon Monday 24th and Friday 28th of February, during MFL or Music lessons. We feel, as a school, that it is really beneficial forchildren to experience a parent's evening styleappointment with their class teacher. The teachers willdiscuss with the children:

We hope that the children (from Reception - Year Six)find this useful and they can then actively engage intheir own independent learning by working really hardon the targets given by the teachers. We look forward topraising children for what they are achieving whilstgiving constructive verbal feedback to support furtherprogress. These targets will be discussed with parentsduring their own parents evening in March.  Thank you

Children's consultation sessions

Thank you for all your feedback regarding our catering.  We have met with our catering company and are workingwith them to address your feedback!  You’ll be pleased to note the children have been supporting us by completinga survey.  The survey questions  dishes they would like to see on the menus, how full they are after lunch, as well asflavours and presentation of the food. The results will help shape the schools new menu cycle after half-term!

GO-LARGE – Children decide their portions! To avoid waste, we encourage children to take only what they are going to eat, however, they can now take-up the option to have a large-plate, if they wish to do so.  They simply have to ask as they go through the counter.  There are  posters displaying this option for them.

Loving the biscuits!  The children celebrated valentines day in the canteen by indulging in some much deserved heart-shaped cookies.  They went down like a treat!!

Tasting Tables Some children from different year groups were able to sample some of the foods made by our new chef this week.  They selected from a main dish and a dessert and we received feedback on how they found flavours, textureand presentation of the food.
