Greetings Lynnwood, And still time passes on! So if you are one of the ul-tra-organized, you have already realized that Christ-mas is around the corner and have started preparing for it. You may even have already bought your pre-sents...Gasp! If you are more like me, you will put that stuff off for a few more weeks and then, at the beginning of December, you will try to get around to it. If you are like my husband, you think it is great idea to finish your Christmas shopping on the 24th. As the stores are still open, you might as well give the people working something to do. Just make sure you take the time to enjoy this thing we call Living. I would like to send a sincere thank you to the Scout-Venturer group, under the leadership of Kai Taylor, for the dramatic improvement to the hall. Through their hard work and volunteering I think our hall is looking great. It was really cool at Corn roast to sit out at the fire and look back at the hall and have a sense of pride. Gone were the weeds and the unkempt look. The front of the hall got some wonderful improve-ments as well. There is still some landscaping work to be done but they are continuing to do some research on plants and shrubs that will look great and be fairly easy to maintain. Speaking of the Corn roast, it was a tremendous suc-cess. We had more people than I think we have ever had and from the sounds of it everyone had a terrific time. We tried something new this year and since it was our 50th we had it catered. I have to say thank you to Katrina for this, as the food was wonderful. I only heard stories about how full people were I don't think anyone went home hungry. The DJ played

some great music and had the limbo competition. Unfortunately I fell at the end and was disqualified so will have to try again at Spring Fling. I also wanted to mention I have received some re-ports of suspicious people, vandalism and mischief. Please if any of this happens to you or your home report it to the police. Lynnwood is a great commu-nity and we like to help each other out and support each other so when things are not going so well it is important that we inform the right people to get it to stop. Warm regards,
Taletta Lynnwood Community League President

lead a song, don’t just just sing it !
With Christmas only a few weeks away, we begin to think about what our children are going to during the winter break from school. Christmas can be a busy time for parents. We sometimes get caught up with shopping, cleaning, Christmas dinner parties at work and may end up feeling guilty about not spending enough time with our kids during this “crazy busy” sea-son. How can we make this coming school break stimulating and memorable? How do we keep the younger ones happy? One great suggestion is Winter break camps. Children love going to camp! They come back with stories of friends and fun; of swimming and singing; of art pro-jects; of crafts and crazy games... and on and on. Camps are beneficial: • good learning experience • meet new friends & develop social skills • keep kids active
Your kids may learn to: • lead a song, not just sing it • participate in a drama group, not just watch • teach a game, not just play it • tell a story or joke, not just laugh at it
So if you are looking for some day camps for your kids during the winter break, search the internet - you will be surprised at how popular winter break camps are. Here are a few that I found interesting:

Background
The City of Edmonton is moving forward with plans for the West LRT. In September the City released new details about which side of the road the train will run on, property impacts, and station location details. You can view this presentation on the city's website at: http://www.edmonton.ca/transportation/WLRT_OpenHouse_Sept2010_Sept7.pdf Of particular interest to Lynnwood residents
Of particular interest to us as Lynnwood residents, is the proposal for Meadowlark Mall.
Challenges
∗ 156 Street is the major point of access in and out of Lynnwood, Rio Terrace & Quesnell. Unlike Meadowlark, Lynnwood is already surrounded by Whitemud, 149 Street and 87 Ave, making travel in and of the neighborhood challenging.
∗ Placing the train at this intersection will complicate an already challenging situation.
∗ Access in and out of Meadowlark Mall will be more difficult. For instance:
∗ A car cannot cross over train tracks except at signal-ized intersections, so a car travelling east on 87 Ave would not be able to turn into Meadowlark Mall at the banks.
∗ A car travelling north on 156 Street would not be able to turn left into the mall until the KFC location, where there will be new lights.
∗ Traffic would also be one-way up to those lights.
Think about
Placing the train on Meadowlark Road as originally sug-gested: ♥ would link the train with the existing transit station
on the west side of the Mall ♥ would not impede traffic in and out of 156th street
would not have the same impact on Meadowlark's vehicle access as the alternative proposal would have on Lynnwood's.
Placing the train stop on the other side of the Mall: ♥ would not pose a serious challenge for Whitehall
Square or Lynnwood residents to catch. What you can do
The City will be voting on this alignment on December 8. Please consider writing the following organization / per-son and expressing your views on the topic:

Kudos Volunteering is what makes Lynnwood a spe-cial place to live. We are fortunate to have so many people who pitch in whenever something needs to be done. We would like to say a special “Thank You” to the following people who have taken time to make a difference: Faye Taylor & Vincent Valois for the hard work they put in beautifying the gardens around the Lynnwood Hall. Many hours were spent pulling weeds, pulling stumps, moving dirt and bark. They are members of the Lynn-wood 116th Venturer Company “S” scout group that took on the project as a community service project but also a “gift” to the commu-nity on their 50th anniversary Robert Wannamaker for all his hard work in helping out with the gardens at the hall. Pat Odegard for the new Canadian flag that graces our flag pole. A very special thank you to Marion Desplen-ter for her years of hard work and dedication in putting together the ‘Lynnwood Link’. Marion has produced the ‘Link’ like clockwork, gathering information, never missing an issue and putting up with late submissions from all of us! Marion, we wish all the best and hope to see you around the community. And to everyone who comes out to help with casinos, social nights, community league meetings & work bees:

eggnog with a punch
This Christmas, why not try something different—like an is‐land drink from the Caribbean. Punch de Creme is one of the traditional Christmas drinks in the Caribbean. It is a rum drink, basically another version of eggnog. One thing that I really like about punch de creme (as opposed to traditional eggnog) is the use of citrus flavors like lime and Angostura bitters (which has orange extract. I usually find it at Safeway Supermarket). This gives the ‘nog’ a fruity light‐ness that alleviates the sweet creaminess.
Ingredients: 6 eggs 3 tins evaporated milk (15oz.) 1-1/2 tins sweetened condensed milk (14 oz.) 1/2 cup rum 2 teaspoons Angostura bitters grated nutmeg peel of one lime
Directions: 1. Beat eggs with lime peel until light and fluffy. 2. Add evaporated milk. 3. Sweeten to taste with condensed milk. 4. Add bitters, grated nutmeg, and rum accord-ing to taste. 5. Strain 6. serve with crushed
