PROPWASH & BACKBLAST
by Mike Melendy
With the coming of the Winter building season --
doldrums, etc., take a little time to reflect on last flying
season. What can be done to improve your flying,
your aircraft reliability, and your overall modeling
experience? Don’t forget the all important batteries!
Cycle them and replace them as necessary.
Bradford and Lynne will be taking a long overdue
winter vacation get-away among the rest of our
snowbirds. (editor’s note: Still here. Didn’t want to
miss the snow and record breaking cold.) Enjoy and
see you in the Spring!
The January meeting will cover finalizing the Winter
Banquet and other business. See you at the meeting.

THE ANSWER TO DECEMBER’S ‘NAME THAT PLANE’
The name of the plane is the Sharp Nemesis.
Bob Wisinski was the first person to guess it correctly and
will get a free raffle ticket at the January meeting. Larry
Bochenko also guessed correctly. It is the most successful
aircraft in air racing history. Following its first flight, it won 45 of
the 48 contests it entered. This remarkable aircraft won 9
consecutive Reno Gold National Championships & set 16 world
speed records for its class. (picture by Jetphotos.net)
JANUARY’S ‘NAME THAT PLANE’
This aircraft was produced in greater numbers than any other American fighter in WWII. A large, heavy
single-seater proved effective in both air-to-air combat and as a ground-attack aircraft. One of America’s top
aces was flying one of these when he recorded his 28th kill.
Send all responses to Bradford Walters at [email protected].
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Congratulations to Ron Petterec and Diana Bellus on
their recent engagement. The wedding is planned
for September 2014.
