Two years of being your President have almost gone by already and it just doesn’t feel like it. October is our election month. The offices of President, Vice President and 4 Board members will be nominated at our meeting on Oct. 17 th . Start thinking about who you would like to see in those offices for the next year. If you have any desire to fill any of these positions, have one of your friends nominate you for that office. All of the other club positions will be appointed after the November election. Think about being on one of the Club’s committees. The positions to be appointed by the Club President are: Fun-Fly, Program, Safety, Refreshments, Field Marshall, Flying Proficiency, Picnic, Banquet, Noise Control, Webmaster. Voting will be available online this year. We will go over the online voting at the October meeting. There will be paper ballot voting at the November meeting, so if you cannot vote via the internet, you’ll be able to cast your vote at that meeting. There will NOT be any mail-in votes! ‘nuf said. We have been enjoying a great Fall flying season these last few weeks here in the Midwest with light winds, sunny skies, and short sleeve weather. Just don’t hold your breath because as you know, it could turn nasty overnight with snow and freezing temps. Did I just say that? Oops, sorry. November, besides being election month, we will have the honor of Mr John Redman from Horizon Hobby coming to speak with us, so you won’t want to miss out on this one. Mr Redman will be bringing some cool things to show and talk about. Remember to fly safely, fly with a buddy and not alone. See you at the field and at the meeting. THE ANSWER TO SEPTEMBER’S NAME THAT PLANE

The name of the plane is the Brequet Super Bidon XIX (19) Question Mark. No one was able to answer itcorrectly. This aircraft prototype featured a strong Duralumin structure which gave the aircraft a very light emptyweight allowing it to carry 60 to 80% more fuel than the original type. This prototype is famous for being the firstaircraft to cross the North Atlantic westbound and had a very unusual name.See picture below.

OCTOBER’S NAME THAT PLANE

This aircraft was the Royal Navy’s first 8-gun fighter when it entered service in the 1940’s. As a light bomber, ithad folding wings, a catapult spool, and an arrestor hook. It helped protect Malta convoys from the deck of HMSIllustrious. It provided sterling service with 11 Fleet Air Arm squadrons particularly against Italian and Germanopponents in the Mediterranean. It also saw action off Norway and Ceylon. It completed its frontline service as anightfighter protecting Russian convoys.Send all responses to Bradford Walters at [email protected].

You shop Toys-R-Us for pilotsYou have EVER glued your hands together with CA and have had to use an exacto knife in your teeth to cut them

apart. You have built two right wings for a single winged plane

You have at least 3 planes in separate stages of completionYou think R/C flying should be an Olympic event.

You wear goggles and a silk scarf around your neck on the way to the fieldYou have at least 10 T-shirts with airplanes on them
