1. What is Luz?

LUZ (meaning ‘light’ in Spanish) is a luxury unisex fine jewelry collection designed by Houman Omidifar.

Launched in February 2006, LUZ has been described as pieces of “wearable art”. LUZ was designed to beinspected and appreciated from every angle, inside and outside. The more a Luz is explored, the more isrevealed and discovered.

2. Who created the collection?

The collection was designed and created by entrepreneur Houman Omidifar. Notoriously driven, Houman

was born into a family of jewelers. The influences of his schooling in Switzerland and Cote d’ Azur are

evident in his designs. “I am creating something which is unique, daring and striking” says Houman. “I

wanted to present a sense of romance with a somewhat debauched, undercurrent.” Houman is also a

superb technician, having studied at George Browns, the best technical school in North America. Houman

now resides in San Diego, California.

3. What inspired him?

Houman was inspired by his personal experiences in life and love, as well as those that he interacted and

witnessed throughout his life.

4. What is the Luz story?

Luz is based on a dark love story. It represents some of the emotions experienced when falling in and out of love: Love, Cheat, Breakup, Anger, Alone, Secrets, Flirt, Lust, Obsession, One, Enigma, and the grandfinale Luz.

Each Luz is a tangible expression/ representation of those emotions. Every intricate line, curve, and stoneserves a purpose in telling the Luz love story.






5. What does the collection consist of?

The collection consists of twelve different styles of rings. Each is designed to represent the differentemotions experienced in life, when falling both in and out of love: Love, Cheat, Breakup, Alone, Anger,Secrets, Flirt, Lust, Obsession, One, Enigma and the grand finale Luz.

Each ring/ emotion becomes its own collection as it is accompanied by a bracelet, cufflinks, pendent andearrings.

6. Do men wear the collection?

LUZ is truly a unisex collection as it appeals equally to a men and women. Each Luz item can be worn by

either, it is just a question of having the right size.

7. What metals are Luz made out of?

LUZ is available in Sterling Silver, 18K White, 18K Yellow Gold and Platinum.

8. Are the rings comfortable?

Yes. The four-sided rings are ergonomically designed to emulate the curves of the wearers’ finger making

them extremely comfortable to wear. This is why it is so critical for the wearer to be fitted correctly with the

right size as well as for prospect clients to try the ring on.






9. Can the rings be sized?

No. Each ring has to be custom-made for the individual as the style, design and intricacy of the rings means

that they cannot be sized or mass-produced.

10. Can I customize a Luz ring?

Each Luz can be customized to meet the customers’ preference and taste i.e. changing the diamonds

configuration, using rubies instead of diamonds.

The machine and laser cut diamonds are VS in clarity, F in color.

15. Do the peaks on the Enigma ring and the Breakup ring hurt?

No they do not. The peaks are rubbed down. The only time that the wearer will feel the ring is when they are

lifting something very heavy e.g. a suitcase.





Explained: Luz rings represent emotions

LUZ is ergonomically designed with slight indentations on each of the four sides. This means that the ringmoulds to the contours of the wearers fingers making it extremely comfortable to wear. Each ring is

designed to be a representation of its name. Every line, curve and stone is there to tell the story.

Love

The four sides of the square design represent the four elements of romance; Love,Passion, Desire and Boundaries. The rubies stand for passion, while the raisededges on one side, indicates the boundaries we establish in our relationship.

Cheat

The Cheat ring is a private collection piece which is an inevitable part of the dramaticlove story. With razor sharp edges, the ring will hurt both you and those that youencounter when wearing the ring, thereby mimicking the very act of cheating.

Breakup

It is said that it takes a Breakup to find the one. The wounded hearts of the Love ringhave been broken and twisted around to signify the peaks and points at the end of arelationship. The line of diamonds running through the center of the ring, indicate aclean break and because a diamond is the hardest substance, there is no turningback. The rubies stand out, as a breakup is a passionate occasion. Prominent is theboundaries side of the ring, as they have been broken in this relationship. Thestriking piece is the Love ring cut in half, with the hearts inversed out so that they areno longer facing each other.

Breakup has been bought as matching engagement rings, as once two of these rings are placed next to

each other, the hearts reemerge.

Alone

The alone ring is the Love ring with the hearts hollowed out. In place of the rubies,there are raised surfaces, which represent the scars of the relationship. Scared skindoes not heal smoothly, but instead is forever affected and raised.
