Luxury Tour in Rajasthan
©Stephane Gautronneau
Our roaming biker still avidly ventures far and wide to discover sublime routes and share
his stories – of which he has quite a stock.
“Ride through the heart of one of India’s most endearing regions, on a motorbike trip
straight out of the One Hundred and One Nights.“

A TRIP
An original itinerary devised for discovering southeast Rajasthan on roads well away
from the usual routes. Your first stop is in Agra to visit to splendid Taj Mahal, before
venturing onto small country roads amid great scenery and enthralling scenes of daily
life. In Ranthambore, you’ll park your Royal Enfield and go on safari, trying to spot one
of the park’s tigers. Throughout this exclusive trip, you’ll stay in enchanting hotels:
period residences with regal architecture. Your route ends in high style in Udaipur, in a
palace lost in the hills of Mewar. A romantic motorcycle tour, for those wishing to
experience Rajasthan in its best light.

Pick up at the airport (usually in the evening) and transfer to the hotel in the center of Delhi. Your room
is available from 12:00 onwards. Night at the hotel.
We start with a car ride to reach the famous city of Agra and
the stunning Taj Mahal. This monument, dedicated to love,
was built in 1631 and is now one of the new 7 wonders of
the world!
Then we go to the small town of Dholpur to spend the night
in the "Raj Niwas Palace." Former residence of Maharajas,
this house, now converted into a palace, is a beautiful
example of the Rajasthani architecture.

We continue to the Ranthambore National Park, still heading towards the South-West and Bundi. This nature reserve is known for its extraordinary wildlife including tigers that we may have the chance to see.
In the afternoon, we leave the bikes to get on the jeeps. We visit the largest national park in Rajasthan; its lakes populated with crocodiles, birds, its sambar, monkeys and of course its tigers.Tip: To preserve the reserve of the tourist season, it is possible that the park closes. The tour is not guaranteed.
We spend the night at Khem Villas, an Eco-lodge of 5 acres offering three types of housing (room, tent and cottage). A place full of charm and elegance in the heart of nature. Comfortable rooms and remarkably tasteful decoration. Very warm welcome from Usha, the owner. Meals are prepared from organic vegetables from the lodge’s garden. Bar, library and natural swimming pool.
STAGE 4
This is our first day on the motorcycle! Today's ride will take us to the
Ramathra fort, southwest of Dohlpur and halfway to Bundi. We drive
on small country roads and the landscapes are gradually transformed.
During the first part of the day, the roads wind through arid
sceneries, but slowly we arrive in greener areas and cross small and
typical villages of Rajasthan.
We arrive at the Ramathra Fort where we spend the night. This fort
was built in 1645 atop a hill by the Maharajas of Karauli and offers
stunning views on the Kalisil river, the lake and the surrounding
countryside. It still belongs to one of the descendants of this dynasty
today. The family kept the character of this beautiful building by
restoring it year after year thanks to traditional construction
techniques. The hotel has opened its doors in 2006!

STAGE 6
Ride to Shahpura. We travel the 120 km of small roads surrounded by lush nature at a relaxed pace. Arrival at Shahpura, a haven of peace. Shahpura District is known for its 250 lakes, making it a paradise for animal lovers, especially birds.
Overnight at the Shahpura Bagh hotel, from which the hosts love to say that customers come as guests and leave as friends. Located in the former summer residence of the heads of state, Shahpura Bagh is surrounded by an oasis of greenery and lakes. A true haven of peace, offering comfortable and beautifully decorated rooms.
After a restful night in the idyllic surroundings of the hotel, we go for a short ride through the Indian countryside, preserved and authentic. Arrival in Bundi for a relaxing afternoon. Stroll through the bazaar and the old city, or visit the Palace and its famous frescoes, among the finest of Rajasthan. This city always pleases because it has managed to preserve itself from tourism thanks to its location, away from the tourist routes. It’s one of the pleasures of travelling on a motorcycle.
"Sandwiched in its walls, nestled in a sunken vale, Bundi, which reflects in the greenish water of its lakes, preserves the quaint miniature that made its reputation.”
We spend our first night in a Haveli. Brij Bhushanji, built 150 years ago. This Haveli respects the traditional Rajput architecture. Magnificent views from the terraces and comfortable rooms.

STAGE 8
We now enter the heart of the Aravalli Mountains. What a pleasure to ride on beautiful small roads winding through the valleys. The Aravalli Mountains are a range that extends on nearly 700 km, from Gujarat to the surroundings of Delhi. Its south-western part, in the region of Mewar from which Udaipur is the capital, is the highest, rising to 1722 m above sea level and has a green and wooded aspect.Arrival in Udaipur, the "Venice of the East", built around the Lake Pichola. The Aravelli Hills around the city makes it pleasant at any time of the year. The city has a large number of palaces, some of which have now been converted into hotels and restaurants.
We have the afternoon to visit the city before reaching our hotel; the fort of Udai Kothi, a beautiful white building with a rooftop pool that offers stunning views of the lake of Udaipur.
After sunrise and breakfast, we hit the road for Sardargarh, in the
foothills of the Aravalli Hills. Sardargarh Singh had the fort built
between 1738 and 1743.
The story says that the King of Udaipur had been so impressed by
the architecture of Sardaghar that he called his architect Thakur
Sardar Singh to oversee the construction of the Jag Niwas, the
famous "Lake Palace" of Udaipur.STAGE 7
