Lutheran Social Services of Southern California in Thousand Oaks serves the poorest in Conejo Valley. We provide a food pantry, grocery and gas vouchers, showers, and laundry services, as well as back packs and sleeping bags. Case management and referrals are offered, as well as dental, eye care, prescription assistance. Rental assistance, gas and utility assistance are also available for those who qualify. Lunches are provided daily, and evening meals are served every day of the year. More than 20 faith and civic groups and businesses support these meals, with more than 700 volunteers. Our office is approved by the Ventura County Courts to sign off on Homeless Court. We also encourage families to join UPLIFT, a relationship-based model that builds an alliance between committed volunteers and those who are poor, and offers tools and encouragement for those who want to lift themselves out of poverty.
