The Presentation of Gifts You are invited to bring up the bread and wine at a Mass that you are attending. Perhaps you would like to pre-sent gifts on the occasion of a birthday, anniversary or another special occasion. On the day you bring up gifts, the ushers will help you/your family at the appropriate time. You can sign up when you come to Mass (there are sheets on a table in the entry of Church).

Last Chance to Join Parish Leadership This Year Our Councils will be discerning our next set of Council Leaders on Tuesday, June 19. Walk-in nominees are welcome on that evening if you decide that you are being called to serve. The process will begin with prayer, welcome and a meal at 6:00 pm and then each of the six Ministry Councils and Parish Council will work through the discernment process to fill their vacant positions. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will guide nominees and leadership through this important process.

There are many ways beyond leadership to “Be the Light of Christ in the World.” All parishioners are encouraged to discern your own gifts to determine where your light shines brightest.

Lumen Christi Prayer Line Our Prayer Ministry will pray for your requests. Leave your prayer needs at 651-698-5581x101 or email [email protected].

Today’s Readings Faith Formation

The Master Storyteller In today’s Gospel, Jesus is presented to us as the master storyteller. He loved to use parables as a tool for compar-ing one thing to something else. In most of his parables, Jesus revealed who God is by comparing God’s essence or actions with something familiar to his listeners. In the parable of the mustard seed, Jesus proclaims a marvelous and irrefutable truth. His small band of disciples, as in-significant as they may have felt, would one day produce a mighty kingdom whose growth was initiated by God. The seeds of this kingdom were planted by God and it is God who will harvest the fruit brought forth from those seeds. The extent of the growth of God’s kingdom can-not be predicted. We must trust the work of the Master’s hand as we, the mustard plant, grow and grow. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

The reign of God comes about because people commit to reversing their lives completely, to embracing new vision, new values. Many pop-ular television shows exploit an unattractive side of human nature by pitting contestants against one another, even to the point of performing dangerous stunts or devious schemes, to gain money or favor.

At the liturgy, we counter that impulse by committing our-selves to live generously. In response to Christ’s total gift, we offer bread and wine as the emblems of our lives, our hopes, our joys and sorrows. The bread and wine carried to the altar contain our lives, and by offering our lives to God, we prepare to receive the gift of God’s own life. We are to become what we receive: the body of Christ.

On Sundays, this self-giving is often accompanied by a collection and procession of gifts for the poor and money for the upkeep of the parish. There are certainly other methods of collecting money, some perhaps more effi-cient. Yet the acts of giving from our abundance and at-tending to the needs of the poor open us up to participa-tion in the changes the Reign of God requires. —Rev. James Field, Copyright © J. S. Traveler’s Prayer from The Work of Your Hands, by Diana Macalintal

Bless me, Lord, as I begin this adventure. Open my eyes to see you in the people I will meet. Open my ears to hear your word in new and surprising ways. Open my hands to be your blessing In whatever situa on I find myself. Protect me from harm as I travel And give your wisdom to those I rely on for my safety. When my travel is ended and my journey complete, Bring me home again, renewed by your love. Amen.

Life is Full of Scars A quote from Pope Francis: "And as always in life, when we are injured, we are left with bruises and scars. Life is full of scars, life is full of scars, full of them. ... And you are young, but life is full of this. And wisdom, learning to be a wise man, a wise woman, is precisely this: carry-ing forward the good and the bad things in life. There are things that cannot go on, and there are things that are beautiful. - Greetings to young Italians in Krakow, Poland, July 28, 2016 NCR, April 13, 2018

Women, Wine & Wisdom Tuesday, June 26, 6:00 – 9:00 pm, Hyland Hills Chalet, Bloomington

Women of all ages are invited to “I Didn’t Sign Up for This, Lord! I only wanted to buy a dozen cupcakes” for every woman who has ever been asked by God to change her plans. For Catholic author and speaker LeAnn Thieman, simply buying a dozen cupcakes turned into saving hundreds of babies in the Vietnam Orphan Airlift. Take an evening to refresh your weary soul with hope-filled stories from LeAnn and enjoy folk/pop music from the very talented, Marie Miller. Social hour begins at 6:00 pm. Music and talks will begin at 7:00 pm. Invite your friends and reserve a table for eight. Register today! CatholicVineyard.com/events.
