the name of Christ.

2008 was an exciting year for Love INC of Boone County. After a long pe-riod of prayer, preparation, and hard work, we welcomed Wayne Adams as the Executive Director in early January. A small group including Wayne trav-eled to snowy Hudsonville, Michigan in February for training in the operation of the Love INC ministry. To see what God can do with people eager to do His work was simply amazing and inspiring. That Love INC affiliate had been in op-eration for over twenty years, involved 109 churches in the area and over 1000 volunteers.

Love INC of Boone County opened the clearinghouse on a limited basis on July 7, 2008. Getting the ministry going was challenging and rewarding. A Com-missioning Service was held September 23, 2008 for the Love INC Ministry to celebrate unity in the local churches coming together to serve the Lord and

His Kingdom here in Boone County. For the last half of 2008, the ministry has grown with more volunteers, more churches involved, and more people be-ing served in the name of Christ. Wayne and Donna Adams have been the ex-amples of humble servants, enabling this ministry to mobilize the Church and transform lives. A ministry such as this requires much from volunteers and churches. More is needed but seeing the love of God displayed in all those involved is evidence of God at work. I believe as we enter into 2009, we will continue to see lives transformed, new Christ-like relationships starting, and the vision of reaching out to those in need become a reality.

vision For 2009 Love INC of Boone County

As Love INC in Boone County matures there are 3 stages of ministry we will attain. Each new stage will allow us to become more deeply involved in the lives of those in need to fulfill the overall mission of transforming lives — by restoring dignity and independence and by introducing them to faith in Jesus Christ, who alone can meet their deepest need.

The beginning stage, which is where we are currently, is the Clearinghouse. The primary purpose of the Clearinghouse is to connect people with needs to the proper resources to meet those needs. Resources may include (1) community agencies, (2) church gap ministries, (3) individual volunteers who provide services, or any combination of these three resources.

The second stage is called the Relational Ministry. In this stage Love INC will work with partnering churches to develop programs that provide training, guidance, and encouragement to people with ongoing needs so that they can make lasting improvements in their lives. Programs will include Bible studies, budget counseling, parenting classes, how to apply for jobs and job placement, assistance with menu planning, and other similar programs to equip clients to deal with the challenges of life.

The third and final stage is called the Comprehensive Community Development stage. At this level we will become engaged with the community to help identify underlying or systemic problems that need to be addressed. Issues might include such things as affordable housing, health care, homelessness, and employment opportunities.

goAls For 2009Throughout 2009 we will continue to develop the Clearinghouse phase of our ministry. The Clearinghouse becomes the foundation for Relational Ministry. To strengthen the Clearinghouse we will:

• Train additional volunteers to answer client calls, make verification calls, file documents, enter data on the computer, and do other necessary office projects.

• Expand the hours for people with needs to call for assistance, allowing us to serve additional clients.

• Secure additional office space and phone equipment.

• Increase the number of churches providing gap ministries. A gap ministry provides a service or product free of charge to people who are struggling financially, allowing them to use money saved towards rent, utilities, car payments, etc. Examples of gap ministries include: household cleaning supplies, personal care items, oil changes, haircuts, meat ministry, and children’s clothing.

We are counting on God’s continued provision through the financial support of generous churches and individuals. Will you partner with us in 2009 to mobilize the Church to transform lives and communities In the Name of Christ?

♥ A family of three now attends church regularly after experiencing the love of Christ from volunteers from four different partnering churches. Through the prayers and support of the Christian community, the husband found work as a truck driver and the wife attended school to get her CNA license and completed her training.

♥ Volunteers from five different Boone County churches teamed up to provide Christmas gifts and decorations, gas cards, food, teaching and most importantly love & encouragement to a family of seven. A local pastor took the father to hear Tony Dungy speak about his faith. This family is settling in to the loving fellowship of a Love INC partnering church.

♥ Recently released from prison, alone, jobless and in debt a young man could still faintly hear God’s voice. He contacted Love INC for help and God’s people responded with transportation for his employment searches and short-term jobs, food, financial help, and mentoring. This young man is attending church regularly. He knows God is real because he has seen the love of Christ extended to him through God’s people. Transformation is taking place!

2008 love storiesHe is not silent about His desire for everyone of us. The poor will eat and be full and all who worship me will be thankful and live in hope. — Psalm 22:26

His Church, under the headship of Jesus Christ and working together through the Love INC network, has brought God’s love and hope to many through 2008. Among the hundreds of gospel seeds planted in lives, several are thriving.

The mission of Love INC is to mobilize the Church (the Christian community) to transform lives and communities in the Name of Christ. I am pleased to tell you that at the end of my first year as Executive Director over 20 churches are partnering with Love INC. The Church in Boone County is being mobilized!

From those churches we have a database of over 250 individual Christians who have volunteered numerous services to people seeking assistance through the Love INC Clearinghouse. It is truly exciting to see our Christian volunteers from diverse church affiliations demonstrate the unconditional, compassionate and caring love of Jesus Christ to people in need throughout Boone County. That’s what is unique about Love INC volunteers. We view every client as a person with dignity because they

are created by God. We are seeing transformation take place in the lives of our clients and our volunteers as serving Jesus Christ becomes the focal point. I believe we can say we remained faithful to our mission statement in 2008.

We look forward to seeing even greater mobilization of the Church in 2009. We are praying that we can expand our church partners to include churches in Jamestown, Advance & Thorntown, and add new churches in Zionsville and Whitestown. We are already serving the needs of clients in these areas. and we want to partner with churches throughout all of Boone County to do so.
