CHAPTER SIXTEEN Tezuka arrived at his grandfather’s patient room. Maimi followed behind him.

Ayaka was already there in front of the door room. The other family

members were inside the room, chatting.

Ayaka smiled and bowed. Tezuka nodded. “Aren’t you coming in?”

“They are too many people inside and I’m shy,” she said. Her eyes took a

sneak peek at Maimi who clutching at Tezuka’s arm.

“Come on, let’s go,” he told her and made his way into the room. Ayaka

escorted herself behind her boss while Maimi walked later after her.

Everyone smiled as they saw the three of them. Mrs. Fujimoto came towards

Ayaka. “Ayaka-chan?”

Ayaka pulled some strands of her hair behind her ear and nodded slightly.

“Um.”

Mrs. Fujimoto nodded too and asked the others to exit. Only the three of

them left in the room with Grandpa To. Ayaka neared that old man and

bowed. “Good afternoon, sir.”

“Good afternoon, dear,” Grandpa To replied. He adjusted his position. Ayaka

smiled, “How are you doing?”

“I’m fine, don’t worry about. It’s just a heart attack. With the help of the

medicines given, I’ll be fine. Don’t worry, dear,” he said with a calming grin.

Tezuka sighed, “It’s not just a heart attack, grandpa. You could have been

dead!”

Ayaka and Maimi looked at him in surprise. Grandpa To chuckled, “Relax,

Tezuka. Let me endure it myself. I’ll be happy as long as you do as I say.”

Tezuka stared at his grandfather’s eyes, not knowing what was he regaling

about. Grandpa To raised his eyebrows, “Don’t you remember?”

When he pointed his index finger at Maimi, Tezuka got it slowly. It was the

promise they made before. He promised that when he got married, he would

make a baby so that Grandpa To could see his first grandchild. He was afraid

that he may die at any time despite that he was in his 80s. Ayaka frowned.

Maimi did the same.



Tezuka nodded slightly. Grandpa To grinned. Ayaka did not dare to ask. She

cleared her throat. “Um….do you want a drink? Coffee? Tea?”

“I can’t take caffeine,” Grandpa To told her.

“Then, eat this,” Maimi said, grabbing an apple from a basket on the endtable. “This apple will make you healthy and happy.”

Grandpa To laughed. He received the apple and smiled. “It’s you….who can

make me happy-,” he said and looked at Tezuka. “-sooner or later. And I’m

waiting.”

Tezuka was tilted by his grandfather’s words. Ayaka sensed a thing that was

going on between the family members but as a PA, she could not butt in

their problems. Maimi clapped her hands happily, “Are you gonna stay here

again tonight?”

“Three more days to go,” Grandpa To said, wiping the apple with his shirt

and put it on the removable desk in front of him. “Mr. Fujimoto will

accompany me here so you guys don’t need to be here for a long time.”

Suddenly, there the door was opened and Andrew was seen coming inside.

Everyone in the room looked at him walking slowly towards the patient bed.

Tezuka did not seem easy.

“I’m going to take fresh air. Excuse me,” Tezuka said and walked pass him

abruptly. Andrew sighed hardly. He knew that was a sign for not joining thevisiting. Maimi bowed at him and ran after Tezuka. Ayaka bowed too and

said, “I should be going to. Nice meeting you, sir.”

Grandpa To grinned. Ayaka took steps beside Andrew and shot a worry,

curious glance at him. He ignored it. As the door was closed, he settled down

beside the bed. “How are you, sir?”

“Hahaha…..I’m fine, son.”

“What did the doctor say?” Andrew asked.

“Nothing much. It’s a heart attack,” Grandpa To explained. Andrew sighed,

“I’m sorry about yesterday. It’s my fault too for doing Tezuka like that.”

Grandpa To shook his head. “It’s okay. He’ll be okay soon. He just needs

time to recover as you’d just come back. He’s surprise.”



Andrew pasted his lips and nodded. “Yeah, he needs time. And I’ll be

waiting.”

Grandpa To giggled and slap Andrew’s shoulders.

Ayaka spotted Tezuka’s BMW at the parking lot in front of the red-tiled

building. She knew the newly-wed had already inside the car but she was

curious about why hadn’t they drive away? She had been standing at the

entrance with those killing high heels and cold weather.

There were tons of work in the office but since Grandpa To fell sick, she

needed to make a visit while her boss took a personal leave to stabilize his

emotion. As she decided to take a couple of steps, a deep, familiar voice

sounded.

“I thought you’re away.” It was Andrew. Ayaka smiled nonchalantly, playing

with her car keys. “I am.”

Andrew smiled and stand beside her with his hands in his pocket jeans. He

looked at the sky. “Nice weather, huh?”

“Yeah, it’s nice,” Ayaka responded. She was trying to dig his secret fight with

Tezuka so since he was there, she bravely faced him. “May I ask?”

Andrew looked at her.

“What’s going on between the two of you?” she asked. Andrew stopped for a

while and changed his legs’ position. “Why do you wanna know?”

“I’m his PA. It’s my job to be beside for work and I can’t do my work if the

two of you arguing whenever you guys meet. So, I deserve to know,” Ayaka

said with a sly look.

“Deserve or curious?” Andrew shot. Ayaka was surprised by his words and

looked away. Andrew chuckled, “It’s because I went to France.”

Ayaka took a side-glance at him.

“We study together when we’re in elementary, junior, middle and high

school. He says he wants to build his own company and asks me to join. But I

just don’t like his way. I mean, they he thinks about what’s gonna happen in

the future and he always includes me. I have my own life, my own

profession.”



Ayaka’s eyes stopped at him. Andrew looked up. “So, I decided to stay away

from. That’s when I went to France to further my study there. It’s fun but I

was kinda missed him. So, I flew back here to know his condition. And his

marriage life. It’s a shock to know that he’s a step in front of me.”

“But he’s mad at you so much. What’s the point?” Ayaka asked.

“He cares for friendships. He doesn’t like breaking up,” Andrew said. “Once I

did that, he keeps a grudge on me.”

Ayaka nodded a little. Just as she faced in front, she noticed the BMW had

gone. She sighed.

Maimi was humming a song while doing her hair after cleaning herself. She

wrapped her hair with a towel in front of the mirror. Her hear was leapingwith joy as she knew Grandpa To was going to be okay and despite that she

was wearing cute, pinkish pajamas with a panda picture.

She took her brush and made it as a microphone and sang. That unpleasant

sound annoyed her husband a lot. Tezuka was lying on his bed, trying to take

a nap before waking up in the middle of the night to continue doing his work

in his study. But when Maimi had started singing, he could not endure it.

His door room was wide opened and he could see straight at Maimi’s room

from where he was lying. Maimi’s door room was left open too so she couldbe seen running in the room with those pajamas sent by Grandma Megu.

Tezuka groaned. He sat back. “Hey, old miss! Don’t you need to sleep?!”

Maimi froze. She shot a sweet smile. “One minute, Nezumi-chan!” Then, she

blew a kiss.

Tezuka rolled his eyes. Suddenly, he thought of something. “Hey, old miss!

Don’t you have a cellphone?!”

Maimi jumped onto her single bed and shouted. “No!”

Tezuka clenched his teeth. “Then, how do you call people?!”

“I use public phone!’ she screamed back, playing with her brush.



Tezuka sighed. He had been thinking that if that old miss had a cellphone,

then they could send messages without walking to each other room to talk.

But she did not have one so Tezuka was frustrated.

“Okay, I’ll buy you one so that we don’t need to talk face to face,” he

whispered to himself.

The next day came. Tezuka took Maimi out to buy a cellphone during the

lunch break. It was an expensive gadgets store. As both of them entered, the

workers bowed. Maimi was amazed by the collections.

“Good afternoon, sir,” a worker greeted by the desk full with imported

cellphones. Tezuka browsed. Maimi browsed too and spotted a cute, whitish

cellphone named Nokia. “I like that!”

Tezuka searched for her pointer and grunted. “No. Let me choose.”

“But I want it! It’s cute,” she said. The other workers covered their mouths

and giggled. Tezuka shook his head and trying to browse more. “Buy

something that’s relevant with many usages. Not something that is cute.”

Maimi pouted. The worker smiled and says, “We have a special promotionthis month. Couples can get their new phones for half price. And we call that

couple phone. Just a sec.”

Tezuka frowned. Maimi was eager. The worker took out three pairs of couple

phones. They were black, white and maroon. The brand was LG. He, the

worker held up a phone and pushed the slide. “It is a slide phone and it has

many usages such as internet, GPS and etc.”

Tezuka took the maroon one. “But I already have….a phone,” he said, staring

at the worker. The worker gulped. Maimi took the white one and studied it.

“Uh…uh…well, it’s time to change, right? You just need to pay half then

you’ll get this pair. It’s limited.”

Tezuka was thinking. Maimi laughed. “I love it! It’s cool and cute!”

The worker nodded eagerly. Tezuka faced her. “I just wanna buy ONE.”



“It’s okay if you purchase two. You would just need to pay half. You can keep

the other one for emergency,” Maimi said. She showed the phone that she

was holding. “I want this.”

“Don’t ever think that I’m buying as a gift. I pay for it,” Tezuka told her with

a stern voice. Maimi was taken aback. She looked down. “But I want it sobadly. We’re a couple. We should have these.”

“Married couple,” Tezuka corrected. “A married couple shall not have this

toy.”

The worker was shocked by his words. Maimi pouted. “Then, if that so, get

me that white Nokia just now.”

“It’s not versatile, you idiot,” he said. “I’m going to buy Samsung like the one

I’m using right now.”

“Huh?” Maimi sounded. Finally she gave up. At least she had a phone. She

noticed the worker’s face turned sorrow. Maimi felt sorry when she put back

the maroon phone. “I’m sorry,” she said, looking at him and back at Tezuka

who was walking towards the Samsung place. “He’s always like that.”

“It’s okay. It happens a lot. But I’m telling you, this is limited and you’re not

going to find it anywhere after this. It’s sad that your husband doesn’t like

it,” he said, keeping the phones.

Maimi nodded. “Yeah. I want it so badly, you know. It’s just that he’s a simpleperson so he doesn’t like this thing.”

“I understand. Thank you,” the worker told her. Maimi smiled and get her

husband.

“The one that you’re using is sold out,” the Samsung’s worker, a guy said as

Maimi reached there. Tezuka sighed. He looked for the others. Nothing

seemed right at his eyes.

Maimi saw a white one. “This one looks great. I like white,” she said,

grinning. Tezuka gawped at her.

“This one is great too,” the worker said when he caught the one that Maimi

pointed at. He gave it to Tezuka. “It’s the same as the one you’re using but

the camera is only 2.8 megapixels. The others, perfect.”



“I don’t care about the camera,” Tezuka replied. He studied the phone. It

was a flip. When it was closed, there was a small screen on the cover,

showing the time. The speaker was good too. Without thinking any further,

Tezuka nodded. “Wrap this.”

Maimi smiled at him. He noticed that and blushed. When they got into thecar and as they drove back to the office, Maimi kept asking Tezuka about

how to use the cellphone. She was scolded several times. Tezuka told her

the point that he bought a cellphone for her was to communicate using texts.

He did not want to face that old miss all the time. So, he figured out that a

cellphone may help.

CHAPTER SEVENTEENMrs. Kazui was doing some cleaning at the front yard that morning. She had

cook lunch but she had no appetite. Even though her son-in-law had bought

her a bunch of groceries for a month, she was still not feeling great. She felt

like she had put such burden on Tezuka. Moreover, Maimi lied to him before

about their background but thank goodness, Tezuka agreed to keep thesecret to help Maimi since he did not like at what he saw.

A sudden cleared throat sound came. Mrs. Kazui looked up to see her most

irritating, swanky neighbor ever, Mrs. Jujou. She was standing at the crooked

gate that could fall off at anytime. “Cleaning the yard, Mrs. Kazui?”

Mrs. Kazui smiled. “I am. Can’t you see?”



Mrs. Jujou rolled her eyes. She took a sneak at the old lady. “Seems like you

have a son-in-law.”

“Nothing much,” Mrs. Kaaui answered. She continued to sweep the dead

leaves while waiting anxiously at what that snobby old lady going to ask

next.

“Where did you find him?”

Mrs. Kazui stopped. “Mai-chan went for a blind date and she was picked.

That’s all.”

Mrs. Jujou was shocked. She could not believe that a blind date could lead

into finding a handsome, tough, tall and perfect background guy in a flash!

“It’s impossible! He’s the great heritage of the most popular share company

in Japan.”

“I know. He’s the one organizing that blind date.”

That answer surprised Mrs. Jujou. She cleared her throat again and

pretended to search for a flower bud beside the gate. “How come I didn’t

know about that?”

“We knew it in the last minute too. By the way,” Mrs. Kazui said. “….you

don’t need to know ‘cause your daughter is married and has a child. Right?”

Mrs. Jujou sneered. She walked away quickly without saying goodbye. Mrs.

Kazui chuckled.

“Oh, my God! This game is definitely fun!” Maimi shouted in her office room.

She was playing a car racing game using her new cellphone. She had been

playing that for the past two hours of non-stop. Her works were not settled

yet. There were a pile of files on her desk waiting to be corrected and edited

before an upcoming meeting. But she was too obsessed with the gadget.

Just then, a ring sound came knocking her cellphone. She stopped the gameand went to the menu to see the inbox. Tezuka had taught her how to use it

before in the car. Maimi pressed a button and the message was opened.

“I want that files to be on my desk at three o’clock. Stop playing games, old

miss.”



It was sent by Tezuka. Maimi pasted her lips. She glanced at the files and

sighed. “What am I gonna do? I hate doing works.”

“Then stop playing that stupid game!” a harsh voice sounded as the door

was opened abruptly. Maimi’s heart jumped. She got up and hesitated. “I-I-I-

am going to…-“

Tezuka came in and closed the door. He shoved his sight at the untouched

files on the old miss’s desk. He looked back at her. “You work under me. You

are responsible to finish editing and checking the files, not playing games!”

Maimi closed her flip phone and put it on the desk. She pouted. “Sorry. I’ll do

it now.”

Tezuka sighed and started to walk away.

“But can I do it with you?!” Maimi asked. Tezuka stopped his steps andglared at her dumbness.

“I want to do it with Nezumi-chan….my lovely, cute, handsome hubby!”

Maimi pleaded. She pasted her palms and widened her eyes before she

blinked those.

Tezuka’s heart began to melt. He cleared his throat.

“Please, please!”

Tezuka closed his eyes hard and let out a deep breath. He was thinking itwould be a great way to get themselves close to each other. Seem like the

cellphone trick had just began but could be used at certain time only. He

remembered the promise. Yes, he needed to grant it for his beloved

grandfather.

“I count to five. One,” he said, walking out. Maimi quickly packed her things

and the files and rushed towards Tezuka’s office room. She threw the files on

the coffee table as Tezuka counted to four.

Ayaka and the other workers were beginning to suspect the same thinggoing on before. But Ayaka stood in front of the area and said, “Do your

work. Please respect Tezuka-senpai.”

The workers nodded. Ayaka sighed. She knew she was jealous but she

respected her boss. It was just she needed to back off for a while. Just for a

while.



Maimi scribbled something on the paperwork. She was checking the totals as

usual. But she was starting to feel bored doing that for months. She looked

at Tezuka who was doing his work at his desk.

Maimi did her work at the coffee table in the middle of the room. The

atmosphere was quiet. Only the sound of the air-conditioner could be heard

roaring. Maimi took out her cellphone and opened it. She found a camera

button and discovered something.

She smiled slyly while pressing the button. She took a secret position and

held the phone in front of her eyes. She captured a picture of her husband.

But the click sound produced by the camera shocked Tezuka.

His eyes met hers. He stopped typing and put a hand on the table with the

other one on his hip. “What’re you doing?”

Uh-oh! He was mad again!

Maimi covered her mouth. She closed the phone. “Uh….I-I-I-.”

Tezuka got up. Maimi’s heart felt like running away. That guy came towards

her and looked at her work.

“Are you done?” he asked.

“Only one left,” Maimi said, pointing out a finger. Tezuka glared at her again.

She could not count of how many times he had been glaring at her all this

while. “When do you need it?”

“A day after tomorrow,” Tezuka told her, taking steps to his desk back.

Maimi shot a relief sigh. She opened back her phone and tried to find backthe previous picture. As she found it, she smiled dreamily.

Then, she pressed a button to open the ‘Reminder’ menu. She had nothing to

do much so she decided to put a reminder of her own birthday. It was a week

left to her birthday. She set the alarm. She cheered, waving her cellphone



side to side. Tezuka kept rolling his eyes. With some thoughts, he was

regretted that he bought that damn gadget for the old miss to use.

The door was opened later and Ayaka stepped inside. She bowed reluctantly

at Maimi and went to her boss. She was panting.

“Sir, there was a call just now from a client,” she began. Tezuka frowned. “So

what?”

Ayaka gripped her hands tightly. “The client comes from Shibuya. He wants

to meet Maimi.”

Tezuka was startled. Maimi was shocked too. “Me?”

“Her?”

Ayaka nodded. “He says he wants Maimi to consult him in investing into thiscompany. He wants her to meet him tonight.”

Tezuka was surprised. He looked at dummy Maimi who was searching for

clues about the sudden meeting. Tezuka quickly asked Ayaka to call the

client. When she did that, she passed the phone to him.

“Hello?”

“Hello, Tezuka-san,” a deep voice emerged from the receiver. “What can I do

for you?”

“Mr. Takuya, right? Here, about meeting my wife, she’s still a beginner in this

field so I recommend you to meet me instead,” Tezuka said.

Mr. Takuya laughed. “No can do, son. I want Maimi by tonight.”

“But-,”

“No buts. I’m ordering as a client. You have to do what a client wants it to

be, right?” Mrs. Takuya said sarcastically. “It’s important. I want her alone.”

Tezuka sighed. He looked at Maimi and at Ayaka.“Ask her to meet me at Kenichi Restaurant, two blocks from your building

around eight tonight. And I want no backups. It’s an urgent discussion

between me and your wife. Besides, she’ll learn more.”

Tezuka breathed out. “Fine. She’ll be there.”



He hung up and sighed. It was a sudden single meeting. And the client’s

request was impossible even though Maimi was there. It was just that Maimi

was too new in that field and Tezuka feared that she would cause trouble.

Mr. Takuya was one important client. And Tezuka needed that money.

“I don’t like these high heels,” Maimi moaned as she stepped on the

pavements in front of the Kenichi Restaurant. Tezuka dropped her off.

“Just let it go, you fool. Remember, don’t do something else when he’sdiscussing with you about work,” Tezuka reminded her. Maimi nodded. She

was wearing a light blue printed dress with a pair of killing high heels. Her

hair was likewise, tied into many ponytails.

She was holding a clutch. She pointed at her clutch. “I’ll call you, okay?”

“You don’t need to do that, old miss. If it’s not important, just leave it. Don’t

waste your credit, dummy,” Tezuka said in the car with the window half

opened. “Now go inside. It’s already eight.”

Maimi was kind of nervous. “Can’t we just cancel this meeting? I’m notfeeling very well. Let’s go home-“

“Go-in-side!” Tezuka said with clenched teeth. Maimi gasped and rushed into

the restaurant. Tezuka sighed. He looked in front. His other side of his heart

was telling him not to send her off to meet the client but he cared for the

investment. He was hoping Maimi could do well.

A waitress showed Maimi to a table. There was a man aged around 40 was

sitting. He got up and bowed. Maimi did the same in hesitant. Mr. Takuya

reached for her right hand and leaved a peck on her upper skin. Maimi

wrinkled her eyebrows, feeling disgust.

“How are you, Mrs. Fujimoto?” he greeted with a seductive smile. Maimi

gulped and nodded slightly. Mr. Takuya took out a chair and asked her to sit

there. She did as followed.







Mr. Takuya laughed while giving the driver some money and the driver left

the car. Maimi’s eyes began to form tears. She never knew this thing was

going to happen.

The slut man untied his bowtie and took off his coat. Maimi gasped with the

tears immediately flew down her cheeks.

“What’re you doing, sir?!” she screamed as Mr. Takuya shifted his seat

towards her. He pulled her chin.

“Just shut up and do as I say, dear. This is what I want you to show me the

goodness in investing into your company,” he said with wild attitude. Maimi

cried.

The man grabbed her hands and started to unzip her dress. Maimi screamed

as loud as she could. That old man was too strong and wild. She kicked him

many times but failed to let his gut down.

Maimi’s clutch fell down off the seat. She tried to take her cellphone but the

beast kept licking her neck and other places of her body. She cried even

harder and knew no one could help her that time. Tezuka was the only

person that popped into her mind. She was hoping a miracle to emerge.

Tezuka took out his cellphone and dialed Maimi’s number. He waited while

grunting. He gave up waiting and decided to ask her what was going on.Unfortunately, she did not pick up.

Tezuka sighed and dialed again. “Come on, you fool, old miss!”

Maimi dragged her hand to reach for her clutch. She grabbed her phone out

of the clutch and pressed a button. She was relieved as she heard Tezuka’s

mad voice. “Nezumi~”

“Hey, old miss! What takes you so long?” Tezuka scolded.

“Nezumi! Help me!”

Tezuka froze. “What!”

“Help me! I’m in front of an abandoned buil-“



“Give me that!” a man’s voice was heard at the background. Maimi’s scream

shocked Tezuka. He was sure there was something wrong going on. He lost

contact with her.

His heart began to beat faster. He rushed into his car. Remembering back at

Maimi’s clue about the location, he knew the place. It would take for about20 minutes to reach there but Tezuka tended to drive fast.

“Hold on,” he whispered to himself. “Please, hold on.”

He drove like crazy just like in racing. The cars around him kept sounding

their horns whenever he passed a road. He even drove pass the red light. He

finally made it to the place. He parked his car behind a stumbling Jaguar.

Tezuka spotted a girl and a man in the car. He gripped his fist and rushedtowards the car. Without thinking any further, he hit the car window. Both

Mr. Takuya and Maimi were shocked. The door was opened and Tezuka

pulled the man out.

“What did you do?! You slut man!!!” he shouted and beat the man’s face. He

fell down on the pavements.

Maimi was sobbing in the backseat, holding the pain. Tezuka kept kicking

and beating that man without any blessing. Mr. Takuya lied down, bleeding.

Tezuka gasped madly. He turned to the car and got inside. He was surprised

to see Maimi’s condition. With her hair in a mess, with her dress being ripped

and her neck was badly injured. Tezuka felt bad. He pulled her up and

hugged her tightly. Maimi cried harder.

“It’s okay, now. It’s okay,” he mumbled. He held her body like there was no

tomorrow. He was feeling guilty.



CHAPTER EIGHTEEN“And when does it happen?” a police officer asked both Tezuka and Maimi

who were sitting opposite him. They were in a police department late that

night. Tezuka had sent the culprit to a police to handle.

“Around eleven and above,” Tezuka answered. Maimi looked down all the

time with Tezuka’s leather jacket wrapped around her body. The police

officer jotted down the information. Then, he looked at Maimi who was

trembling.

“Where are you when you call her?”

“At Tokyo’s river. I was waiting for her to finish meeting with that client,”

Tezuka said. He took a side glance at Maimi.

When the police had asked them for more information, he put took a deep

breath and looked at Maimi carefully. “Misses, I’m sorry if I ask you this but

this is important. I’m glad if you help me then we can put that man into jail in

no time. Hmm?”

Maimi looked up. She turned at Tezuka. She nodded.

“Okay,” the police began. “Did Mr. Takuya rape you?”

Tezuka was shocked by that question. Maimi’s eyes met the police’s concern

eyes. Tezuka was kind of nervous, waiting for her answer. It was damn

important since she was his wife and if she said she was raped, there would

be big trouble.



Maimi slowly shook her head. Tezuka was relieved. The police officer let out

a deep breath.

“He-he-,” Maimi started. The police officer leaned forward followed by

Tezuka. “He….touches my body. Here, and here,” she explained. “He even

licks my neck and hurts me.”

“Oh,” the police officer responded. “So, in overall, he did not rape you?”

Maimi nodded slightly. Tezuka sighed in relief. Thank goodness, it was a

good news behind the bad news.

“You’ve done a great job, misses. And you, Tezuka-san, you helps a lot too. It

would be bad if you aren’t there. So, you guys can go home. I’ll call you back

later if I need you again, okay?” the police officer said.

Tezuka and Maimi got up and bowed. He held Maimi’s shoulders and broughther to his car. As both of them settled in, Tezuka drove towards their home.

After minutes of journey, they finally arrived at their apartment. Tezuka

braked his car and sighed. He turned to his right to see Maimi sleeping. He

felt so sorry. He could have told her to just sit at home and cancel that

sudden meeting. Too bad, he was too late. But thank goodness, Maimi was

not raped.

Tezuka noticed her messy hair. Probably her hair bends were left in the slut’s

car. He pushed the leather jacket aside slightly to see Maimi’s ripped dress.

It was badly torn. He could see her bras. Tezuka sighed again. He felt so

guilty. He could not let that out.

Maimi was carried to her room. She was half asleep as she was put on her

bed. Tezuka walked towards the door but stopped when Maimi called him. He

spun around.

That old miss slowly took off the leather jacket and held it up.

Tezuka looked away. “Just keep it. We’re in the same house anyway.” Then,

he walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.

Maimi studied the leather jacket and smelled it. She could sensed Tezuka’s

fragrance. She hugged it and smiled as she remembered the scene where

Tezuka came to help her. The moment that he hugged her and told her that



everything was going to be okay. And when she was carried into her

bedroom. After flashbacking those, she did not remember well about the bad

scene just now. She was glad Tezuka still loved her.

Tezuka stopped for a while and twirled. He put a hand at the door frame.

“Don’t call anyone yet. Let’s keep it a secret in the mean time. Take a rest.”

“Oh, my God!” a worker shouted, putting the newspapers on her desk. The

others joined. The share company had been shocked starting early in the

morning when the newspapers were distributed the next morning.

Everyone was speechless. Some of them fainted. Ayaka came to join the

gathering at the desk. “What’s going on?”

The worker covered her mouth and showed her the front page. Ayaka’s heart

felt like dropping as she saw three pictures lined up from up to the bottom.

The pictures showed a guy was punching a man outside of a car. The last

picture showed a car and everyone knew there was someone in there.

Ayaka read the title, ‘A popular manager hits a client for abusing his wife’.

Ayaka gulped. She went through the content and spotted Tezuka, Mr. Takuya

and Maimi’s names. She gasped, wondering about last night. Did it really

happen? Why hadn’t she knows anything?

But from the bottom of her evil- sided heart told her that it was a good sign.

Maimi was abused. It will be a blast in her marriage life. She hoped so that

the news would bring to the peak of having her boss back.

Tezuka shrugged into his black coat. He wore his glasses and took a deep

breath. Maimi was not seen out of her room yet. Tezuka wondered why so he

went there. Firstly he knocked on the door. There was no sound.

He opened the door and saw Maimi was still in her bed with the comforter

covering her. Tezuka neared her. “Hey, old miss. Wake up. We’re going to be

late!”

Maimi moved a little. Tezuka sighed. He grabbed the comforter. Maimi

opened her eyes a bit.

“No more excuses. Get up now,” Tezuka told her, throwing the cloth away.

Maimi closed her eyes back.



She moaned. Tezuka noticed her face was white. He put a hand against her

forehead. It was hot. Extremely hot. He let a tense breath. Probably because

of yesterday, Maimi was still shocked and begins to catch fever.

Tezuka’s cellphone rang. He picked it up. “Hello?”

“Hello, sir,” Ayaka said. “It’s a bad news.”

“What is it?”

“You should come here immediately,” she told him.

Tezuka looked at Maimi who was still sleeping with her eyes shut tightly,

holding the pain. Tezuka sighed. “I’m on my way.”

Tezuka was extremely shocked by the newspapers. He gripped it and threw

it away. Ayaka was startled.

“Who did this?!” he shouted. Ayaka bowed down. “I don’t know, sir.”

Tezuka put his hands on his hips. He walked back and forth in his office

room. He was figuring out who was there during the punching time. Who else

could be there? That place was abandoned and even a passerby would notgo there to reach the other road. So, it was a mystery and he did not even

know it would be a hot issue for the whole Japan to see.

“What really happened last night?” Ayaka gave him a shock and lame

question. She really wanted to know.

Tezuka sauntered away. He back-combed his hair and sighed. “You don’t

wanna know. The newspapers told you,” he said roughly. Ayaka looked down

at her feet. She was annoyed and distracted. She wanted to know the real

tragedy and she was upset that her own boss did not call her for helpinstead, she got knew to that incident last few minutes.

She knew exactly that she was only a PA and she could not interfere her

boss’s problems and affair. She was districted to do that but her love for him

seemed to bloom even more since he got married.



Tezuka took his phone and dialed for the newspapers. They did not know the

person since he insisted on censoring his name and identity. Tezuka let out a

tense sigh as he hung up. He decided to call the police. As he did that, the

police agreed to investigate the news and catch the culprit.

Ayaka tightened her grasps of her files. She swallowed and bowed. “Pleaseexcuse me, sir.”

Tezuka did not even respond as he was busy looking and his cellphone,

something to do with texting. Ayaka walked of the room and breathed out. A

bunch of workers were still reading the news over and over again. The place

was congested with whispering and talking. It seemed like it would never

end.

“What?!!!!!!” Grandma Megu screamed as she read the front page of the

newspapers. She was having breakfast with the Fujimotos. “It can’t be!”

Mrs. Fujimoto knew that she was going to burst out like that and tended to

throw that newspapers away before the old woman found out about that but

the stupid, clueless chauffeur got it back and gave it her.

“This is insane!”the old woman shouted. Megumi the maid heard that and

she was sad too. Mr. Fujimoto took a reluctant sip at his espresso while his

wife was trying to comfort the old woman.

“Mom-“

“Call Tezuka and Maimi now!” Grandma Megu ordered.

“Please, wait!” Mrs. Fujimoto said. She grabbed that newspapers and lent it

to Megumi, asking her to chase it away permanently. Then, she faced back

at her mother. “Mom, take it easy. They’re probably busy now. Or maybe the

news isn’t real. This has got to do with the obsessed reporters out there.”

Mr. Fujimoto just kept silent. He was so shocked of himself and wondering

about the truth. If it was true, they would call the family in the first place. So,

if nothing was done, maybe it was a fake. He hoped so.

“You want to let it go just like that?” Grandma Megu told her, eyes firing.

Mrs. Fujimoto hesitated, playing with her cup.

“I want you to call them and ask them to come here now!”



“Mrs. Kazui! Mrs. Kazui!” Peppei called out while running towards the main

gate. As she entered, she waved the newspapers in her hand and hopped

onto the open balcony where Mrs. Kazui was sitting.

“What is it?” she asked, taking down the knife off the fruits. She was going to

make homemade cocktail since the ingredients that Tezuka had bought for

her last week were still piling up in the fridge.

Peppei sat down and swallowed. She wiped off her sweat and held the

newspapers in front of Mrs. Kazui. The old lady took it. Her eyes widened at

the minute she read the title and the observing the pictures. She even saw

the name of Tezuka and Maimi written.

Mrs. Kazui put a hand on her chest. “Is it true, dear? There’s must be

something wrong.”

“I was thinking the same thing. But if it’s true, why haven’t they called us

last night?” Peppei said. Mrs. Kazui nodded slightly. Peppei was right and she

could not let that news be true. If it was, the whole neighbourhood will spam

her family.

“Does everyone know about this?”

Peppei shot a wry look. “ Of course, Mrs. Kazui! It is on the newspapers and

the whole Japan knows about this since it’s at the front page and it is a bigissue today onwards.”

Mrs. Kazui sighed. Poor Maimi.

“Want me to call them?” Peppei offered, rummaging through her pocket

jeans to take out her cellphone. Mrs. Kazui shook her head.

“Let them have some space to figure these things out,” she said.

Maimi stretched her arms wide open and yawned. She could feel her whole

body was aching. With her numb legs, she forced to drag herself off the bedeven though she was so sick that morning. A fever to be more précised. She

was upset that Tezuka just left without looking or treat her.

It was already passed ten in the morning. The sunlight shone through the

vertical blinds of the windows and it scattered beautifully on her comforter.



She managed to stand up. She yanked her weak body to the living to see as

tidy as it could be likewise since Tezuka was a metrosexual guy. Kind of.

Maimi’s stomach growled. Her eyes locked at kitchen counter. There was no

food. She sighed. Dragging herself towards the fridge, she slowly opened the

door and popped her head inside to browse. There were plenty of food andsnacks. She spotted a cup of strawberry yogurt. A smile was curve on her

face as she took it.

The door was closed automatically. Maimi sat slowly by the dining table and

started eating the yogurt. She sighed with relief as the cool liquid flew

through her throat and she felt like her ached body didn’t seem to bother.

Just then, the house phone rang. Maimi urged of getting up with the yogurt in

her left hand. She went to the living room and picked the phone. “Hello?”

“Hello,” a deep, sexy voice of a guy moved her heart. She knew it was her

beloved husband.

“Nezumi-chan,” she said in a weak voice. Her voice cracked.

“Hey, old miss. Are you up?” Tezuka asked.

Maimi nodded slightly. “Hmm.”

“I thought you’re sick.”

Maimi closed her mouth. She smirked a bit. “Just by hearing your voice hasmade me feel better.”

Tezuka scuffed. “Hey,” he began. But this time his sounded serious.

“Grandma Megu is holding a gathering about yesterday.”

Maimi gasped. “You told her?”

“It’s already in the news. The whole Japan is reading.”

Suddenly, Maimi’s heart seemed to burst out. She was becoming

traumatized back as she heard that. She was hoping everything was going tobe fine if both if them keep it a secret. But it was too late. By the way, she

curious to know where does the newspapers got the source?”

“Hey, old miss!” Tezuka’s voice shocked her off from dreaming. Maimi’s

sudden tears flowed down her cheeks. She gripped her yogurt.

“I don’t wanna go,” she said, sobbing. “I’m scared.”



There was a silence then. Maybe Tezuka was thinking of that too. The main

victim was Maimi. Tezuka sighed. “I’m afraid you can’t. Grandma Megu is

seeking about this and maybe she can help you. It’s just that I don’t wanna

cancel this meeting. She will be hurt.”

Maimi was surprised by his words. “Then, I shouldn’t be hurt?”

That sarcastic question shot Tezuka’s heart. He knew he was wrong. Maimi

was the one that should be hurt. But cancelling Grandma Megu’s will

somehow hurt her too. Tezuka felt bad again.

“Come on, old miss,” he said, breaking the silence.

“Don’t call me old miss!!!!” Maimi shouted and hung up.

Tezuka tried to open the main door of his house as he arrived home later but

it was locked. He wondered that the old miss must be sulking right now.

Locking the door was a lame trick ever. He took out a ring of keys and

unlocked the door.

He popped his head inside to search for the old miss in the living room. It

was clear that she was not there. Tezuka entered and shrugged his shoes off

his feet and went to the living room. He looked at the kitchen. No sign of that

old miss’s masterpiece of homemade breakfast.

Tezuka put down his briefcase next to the couch. He glanced at Maimi’s door

room. He stepped forward and knocked on the door. She didn’t respond. He

opened it and saw the old miss was covering herself under the comforter.

Her tiny feet were out of the covering.

Tezuka put his hands on his hips. “Hey, old miss. Wake up!”

Again, there was no respond. “Hey, old miss!”

Maimi did not remove a single. Tezuka grabbed her comforter.



Maimi gasped. She was still in her pajamas. Tezuka grunted and threw away

the comforter. “Get up. We’re still going to meet my grandma. Get up and

change.”

“I don’t want!” Maimi said. She covered her face with the pillow. Tezuka

rolled his eyes. He took the pillow up and threw it away. He even took someof the teddy bears and chase those onto the floor. Maimi groaned.

She got up and hit him. Tezuka grabbed her arm. She quickly took away her

arm. Her body shivered. Tezuka sighed. He knew she was still traumatized

by yesterday incident and he admitted that it was his fault.

Maimi spun around, pouting. Her bun was a mess but somehow she looked

so cute. Tezuka could not take his eyes off her clumsy, stupid old miss

attitude at that moment. He neared her and patted on her slender shoulders

but she skipped away from him immediately with a terrifying look.

Tezuka’s eyes widened. He was clueless. It was big news. Everyone had

known about that thing and the worst was that as the company’s owner, he

could not let this thing to be spread all over the building. The workers would

lose respect for him and his family. He never knew this thing could happen

especially it happened on his own wife. She must be too upset.

Maimi kept shaking her head, refusing to go. Her eyes were flooded with

tears but she tried to hold. She looked up at Tezuka and by that face, he

could tell she really couldn’t go.

Maimi picked up the teddy bears and squeezed them. She wiped her tears.

Tezuka batted his eyes tightly. He ran his hand through his hair, thinking on

what to do. Probably he could let go of her this time but what was he going

to tell his grandmother about the meeting?

“I wanna stay over at my mom’s,” she finally spoke. Tezuka tilted. He sighed.

That was a great idea for the time being. He should have just cancelled the

meeting with his family to discuss about the news.
