  • Purpose of loto

    Approximately 120 fatalities and 15,000 disabling injuries each year

    Occurred due to assuming a machine was safely turned off or that an energy source was correctly isolated

    1. To prevent unexpected energizing or start-up of machines/equipment.

    2. To prevent hazardous releases of stored and re-accumulating energy.

    Employer must certify in writing that the periodic inspections have been performed

    Must be performed by an authorized employee other than the one using the energy control procedure
