Like hugging your friend for the last time, And savoring every moment. Or hugging them for no reason, And recognizing their feel. Like finding out someone likes you. Like getting a compliment. Like warmth, only comparable to the caress of a mother. Or the gentle licks of a midnight campfire. You stretch your toes, your arms lift slowly from under the blanket. You squeeze your eyes shut, and squeal with delight. With utter bliss. Like running through a thunderstorm, So exhilarating and refreshing. Then like sitting in a busy café, surrounded by friends and loved ones, So comforting and simple. One last moment before reality hits you, when you remember yesterday’s panic and today’s worry. You sigh and smile like a fool. There is no way to describe it, the feeling Just after you wake up. -Jessica Campbell 1. Which metaphor is most relatable to your experiences/is your favorite? 2.
