ENTREPRENEUR WORKSHOPMarch 12, 7pm –Main Library, Costin RoomDo you have a great idea for a small business or startup? Do you own a small business that you’d like to see grow? This workshop is for you! Entrepreneurs are everywhere – their backgrounds and motivations vary considerably. Many are interested in pursuing a business idea that resonates with them personally or are interested in joining another entrepreneur to launch their idea. Participants will discuss their startup ideas and learn to apply the basic framework known as ‘Business Model Canvas’ to help them focus their efforts on the key steps and activities necessary at the earliest stages of startup business development. The workshop will also highlight the importance of a well-crafted pitch deck, essential to promoting their ideas to potential investors, partners, and future hired employees.

By incorporating the instructor’s background and hands-on experience in the current market for startups and using recent examples, the workshop will provide participants with a basic understanding of what it takes to bring a startup idea to full fruition as a business.

MARK HARDIEMark Hardie is a serial entrepreneur and start-up veteran with a passion for innovation. The FSU Innovation Center’s hybrid model is similar to a startup incubator concept Mark developed and pitched to area venture capital investors. He is a career-long mentor at the MIT Sloan School and currently a Career Coach at Harvard Business School, working with start-up teams, founders and would-be entrepreneurs. A Massachusetts native, Mark attended primary and secondary schools in Holyoke MA, is a graduate of Tufts University and the M.I.T. Sloan School of Management. He brings extensive experience launching start-ups, driving corporate strategy and business innovation, all with a focus on Internet business models, mobile device platforms, and cloud-based SaaS business models.
