Combine the beauty of Simpson’s
most popular designs with the
timeless appeal of American Red Oak.
Knotty alder has the strength of maple
and the personality of pine. Stains can
further highlight the beautiful grain. The open, solid knots give alder a more informal presence.
Craftsman style architecture has
long been an American favorite and these doors
capture that essence.

Protect the base and you essentially protect the entire structure – that's the whole idea behind our new, patented FrameSaver frame. Its bottom ends are actually fingerjointed TimerTech™, a revolutionary wood composite material so resistant to rot and insect damage, we guarantee the frame for ten full years. Welcome to Therma-Tru®, the most preferred brand of exterior doors in the business. Year after year, building professionals rank Therma-Tru #1 – as the brand they use most, and as the most innovative company in fiberglass entry door and patio door systems. It’s a reputation Therma-Tru has been building on for more than 40 years.
BMC Millwork has selected Therma-Tru Door as its exterior door supplier for Texas. BMC Millwork is the only Premier Certified Distributor of Therma-Tru selling directly to builders in the state of Texas
Add Value to Your Home
Your home's entry is a sign of its quality and value. Therma-Tru's National Home Valuation Study* found that an enhanced entryway can add as much as $24,000 to a homes perceived value. The added value was as much as five times the cost of the entry system and more than 6% of the selling price.
Moderately priced homes also benefited. The study shows that an average upgraded entryway can increase the perceived value of a home under the $200,000 range by $7,720 or 4.1%.

What to look for in your patio door.A Therma-Tru® hinged or siding patio door system would be the perfect complement to your home. But with so many styles, answering a few questions about you and your home could help narrow your choices to a manageable number. To slide or swing? A sliding patio door makes sense in high traffic spots or when space is at a premium. It never intrudes into walking or seating areas. A swinging patio door gives you the option of swinging inward or to the outside.
To stain or paint?Do you prefer the look of rich wood grain? A Fiber-Classic® patio door system has an interior surface that can be stained. The interior of Smooth-Star® patio door systems feature a paintable surface, and the Slim-Line™ and SPD™ come prefinished on the interior.
Can it handle traffic?Patio door durability is a big issue with kids, pets and active family lifestyles. Over time, wood patio doors crack, split and rot, while steel doors dent, ding and rust. Therma-Tru fiberglass patio doors take everything in stride, beautifully.
What about energy efficiency?Fiberglass offers better thermal efficiency than wood or steel. Therma-Tru fiberglass patio doors are ENERGY-STAR® rated and feature premium weatherstripping and sills, and can be ordered with Low-E insulated glass to help reduce energy bills.

SpecificationsInterior MDF Door Construction
TruStile’s hardwood edge system, The Wedge®, is used in all of their MDF doors. This increases the rigidity of the door, creates better screw holding and makes chiseling easier for radius and square corner hardware. Each door is built parametrically to your exact measurements.
Exterior MDF Door ConstructionTruStile’s exterior doors are manufactured with exterior grade MDF and their TruBOLT™ system. A threaded rod is used through both the top and bottom rails to secure each door. All doors are available for both interior and exterior applications.
French Door ConstructionOver 90 different glass doors are available to choose from. All of TruStile’s French doors are offered with art glass, custom etched patterns and a variety of sticking options.
Tambour and V-Groove Door ConstructionFor something contemporary try the Tambour Series. Or, if you are looking for something more rustic, the V-Groove Series gives you the look and feel of tongue and groove plank doors.

Begin by selecting the profile of handrail that best fits with the style of your home. If you prefer a traditional design select the 6010 rail or bread loaf style. The same profile is available in the wider 6210 rail. For a more decorative look select the 6110 or Bristol style rail. The fittings you need must match the style of rail you have selected. The 70 series fittings match the 6010 rail. Use the 72 series fittings with the wider 6210 rail. The 6110 rail fits the 71 series fittings. When selecting the baluster and newel design confirm that your rail profile is compatible. Always consult your local building codes before ordering your stair system.

Terminology
Book Matched VeneersIn book matched veneers, every other strip of veneer is turned over during manufacture. This produces a grain pattern that is matched at the veneer joint.
Rotary Cut VeneersIn rotary cut veneers, an entire log is placed in a computerized, hydraulic lathe and is turned at a high rate of speed against a special knife. The resulting continuous ribbon of veneer is either left whole or cut.
Plain Sliced VeneersPlain sliced veneers are produced from logs that have been cut in half lengthwise. Each half is then moved back and forth against a stationary knife producing thin strips of veneer with a unique grain pattern. These are later composed or glued back together to form who;e sheets of hardwood veneer.

Unlike a conventional swinging door, a pocket door frees up space by disappearing into the wall.
Johnson’s hardware makes it easy to install. Quick, too.
Experienced carpenters can finish the job in a few minutes. Best of all, the jump-proof track means no customer callbacks.
www.johnsonhardware.com
Removable TrackTrack has keyhole slots for easy removal without
tearing out walls. Box design prevents rollers from jumping track. Convex rails provide one-
point wheel contact for smoothness — dirt traps for free rolling.
Tricycle HangersTri-design ensures all wheels carry
weight equally. Smooth rolling, balanced wheels ride with minimum
friction on convex track rails. A “flip-of-a-clip” separates hangers
from doors for easy door removal. Frame Assembly

Fitting and Hanging1. When hanging door, allow adequate clearance for
swelling of door or frame in damp weather. Allow approximately 3/16" clearance for swelling when the door is installed in fully dry conditions. Jambs must be plumb.
2. Do not cut panel doors down in width by more than 1" and in height by more than 3" (1/2" maximum from top.) Use sharp fine tooth saw for trimming ends of doors.
3. Caution must be used to avoid impairing the strength of the door when fitting for locks. Allow at least 1" of wood back of mortise.
4. Use three hinges on doors up to 7' in height and four hinges on doors over 7'. Hinges must be set in a straight line to prevent distortion.
5. Jambs and stops must be set square and plumb.
6. For best performance, any exterior door should be installed under an overhang or with protection.
7. Immediately after cutting and fitting (before hanging) seal all cut surfaces and ends of door with an effective quality sealer. See Finishing Instructions for complete recommendations.
8. Prior to exterior exposure, doors should be finished with complete finish system.
9. To minimize heat loss and save energy, use weather stripping.
FinishingPreparation For Finishing
1. Before applying the first coat of finish, sand the entire surface lightly with 5/0 sandpaper (180 grit). This is to remove fingerprints and handling marks.
2. Adjust or align components if necessary before finishing. Wood panels “float” and may be knocked into alignment with a wood block and hammer. Be careful not to damage door.
3. Clean door thoroughly after sanding with a cloth to remove all dust or foreign material. However, avoid using caustic or abrasive cleaners.
4. Hang door before finishing, then remove to finish properly.
5. All surfaces of the door must be properly finished. The edges (top, bottom and sides) should be coated with each and every coat of finish that is applied to the exterior surface of the door. Doors must be dry before finishing.
6. On doors that are glazed with clear glass, the finish used should be flowed from the wood slightly onto the glass. This will provide assurance against water leakage and will protect the glazing “putty” from drying out.
Exterior Finishing1. Stain-and-Clear Finish
a. The first coat should be a stain-and-sealer, a combination of stain and sealer which colors the door and seals the surface. It is available in a wide range of colors. The stain-and-sealer should have an alkyd resin base.
Under no circumstances should a lacquer-based toner or any other lacquer-based finish be used on exterior doors.
b. Second coat may be a solvent-borne (oil-base, alkyd resin-base, polyurethane resin-base) or a water-borne (latex resin-base) clear finish. See note 1.
The advantages and disadvantages of solvent-borne vs. water-borne clear finishes are as follows:
(1) Solvent-Borne
Advantages: Faster drying, harder and more water resistant. May be applied under variable weather conditions.
Disadvantages: Subject to ultra-violet degradation and not as flexible or durable as water-borne clear finish.
(2) Water-Borne
Advantages: Very flexible, greater ultra-violet resistance, and good exterior durability.
Disadvantages: Cannot be applied below 50°F, long drying period required, and may not fully cure for several weeks. Water-sensitive until cure is complete. Note: Do not sand between coats of latex clear.
c. All stain-and-clear finishes will perform measurably better if protected from the direct effects of sunlight and weathering, and refinishing will not be required so frequently.
2. Paint Finish
Either oil-base or latex resin-base paints may be used with success on panel doors. Oil-base paints offer more resistance on panel doors. Oil-base paints offer more resistance to the passage of water (liquid and vapor) than latex resin-base topcoat paint. Of course, both primer and topcoat should be made by the same manufacturer and be designed to be used as a combination.
3. Caution:
BMC West South Central L.P. cannot evaluate all the available paints and stains, nor the customers’ specific application requirements. Your paint dealer should know of suitable finish systems that give satisfactory results in your region. It is highly recommended that top quality finishes be selected, and the application instructions on the container be followed explicitly.

hardwood veneered flush doors shall not be considered a defect unless the faces of the door vary from a true plane in excess of 1/100 inch in any three-inch span.
2. Warp shall not be considered a defect unless it exceeds 1/4 inch in the plane of the door itself. For flush doors 1-3/4’’ or thicker, wider than 3’6’’ and higher than 7’ in height the warp shall not exceed 1/4’’ in a section 3’6’’ by the height of door. For flush doors wider than 3/6’’ and higher than 7’ the warp shall not exceed 1/4’’ in any 3’6’’ by 7’ section.
