Yes “Beautiful Lake”Reviewed 1 December 2010 I went to the Lonar Crater by a taxi from Aurungabad. Reached the place in 2.5 hrs. Its quite scenic and beautiful but not very tourist friendly. A complete disappointment was the MTDC that served us food with bugs. The washroom facilities were inadequate (to put it mildly). The stretch of road along the crater offers an incredible view. However, the road is bumpy and not made. You can trek down to the lake. However, since we were pressed for time, we decided not to do so. We also visited the Gomukh temple. Unfortunately, this temple is being restored and so we could not see much of it. It is quite passable. We then visited the Daitya Sudan temple. This temple comes as a complete surprise. Not many people including the locals know about it. However, its a beautiful monument with carvings done on stone all over. Unfortunately, it ain't maintained well and is crumbling. If visiting Lonar lake, I would surely recommend a stopover at this temple.
