Product 7075 Worldwide Version, October 1995 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION LOCTITE ® Product 7075 is a solvent-based surface activator. It is designed to promote the cure speed of Loctite anaerobic structural adhesives and sealants. TYPICAL APPLICATIONS Used where increased cure speed of Loctite anaerobic products is required. Especially recommended for applications with passive metals, inert surfaces or having large bond gaps LIQUID PROPERTIES Typical Value Chemical Type Acetone Appearance Amber Liquid Specific Gravity @ 25°C 0.79 Viscosity @ 20°C, mPa.s (cP) 2 Flash Point (TCC), °C -8 GENERAL INFORMATION This product is not recommended for use in pure oxygen and/or oxygen rich systems and should not be selected with a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidizing materials. For safe handling information on this product, consult the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). Where aqueous washing systems are used to clean the surfaces before bonding, it is important to check for compatibility of the washing solution with the activator and adhesive. In some cases these aqueous washes can affect the cure and performance of these materials. This product is not normally recommended for use on plastics (particularly thermoplastic materials where stress cracking of the plastic could result). Users are recommended to confirm compatibility of the product with such substrates. Directions for use 1. Spray or brush the activator on one or both mating surfaces to be bonded. For small gaps, treatment of only one surface may be adequate. Contaminated surfaces may need repeated treatment or special degreasing prior to activation to remove any dissolvable contamination. If the surfaces to be bonded are porous, or if gaps are large, for best results apply the activator to both surfaces. NOTE: Because the solvent base can affect certain plastics or coatings, checking all surfaces for compatibility is recommended. 2. Allow the solvent sufficient time to evaporate, under good ventilation, until the surfaces are completely dry. 3. After activation, parts should be bonded within two hours. Try to prevent any surface contamination before the bonding process. 4. Apply the Loctite anaerobic product to one or both surfaces, and assemble parts immediately. NOTE: If activator is to be applied to only one surface, apply to the non-activated surface. 5. Where possible, for a few seconds move surfaces in relation to each other to properly distribute the adhesive and to achieve maximum activation. Secure the assembly, and wait for surfaces to fixture before any further handling. Storage Product shall be ideally stored in a cool, dry location in unopened containers at a temperature between 8°C to 28°C (46°F to 82°F) unless otherwise labeled. Optimal storage is at the lower half of this temperature range. To prevent contamination of unused product, do not return any material to its original container. For further specific shelf life information, contact your local Technical Service Center. This product is classified as being highly flammable and must not be stored near oxidizing agents or combustible materials. Always seal activator’s bottle immediately after use. Handling Precautions This is a highly flammable material. When dispensing this material from a pressurized system, only nitrogen or argon should be used. Please check local, state and federal regulations regarding the use of flammable liquids in the workplace. Caution PRODUCT 7075 IS HIGHLY FLAMMABLE. KEEP AWAY FROM FLAMES OR OTHER SOURCES OF IGNITION. NEVER MIX ACTIVATOR AND ADHESIVE DIRECTLY AS LIQUIDS.
