We were delighted to see the children arrive on their first day back, looking so smart and excited to learn with their friends and new teachers. Like you, we cannot wait to see them make great progress, meet their potenal and make themselves (and us all) proud! This newsle(er should keep you informed of all the important dates for your diaries during the coming year but I also highly recommend keeping an eye on the photo galleries and blogs on our website, www.lawfordmead.essex.sch.uk. We are also looking forward to opportunies for engaging with parents this year. To begin the year, we will be hosng ‘Meet the Teacher’ presentaons for Year 1 to 6 parents on the following dates; Tuesday September 18th – Year 3 & 4 Wednesday September 19th – Year 5 & 6 Thursday September 20th – Year 1 & 2 At 8.45am we will welcome parents into the Studio entrance at the front of the school for registraon and refreshments. At 9.00am teachers will take parents to classrooms for a 20 minute presentaon on the curriculum and supporng children’s learning at home. Pupils will be in an assembly during the presentaons. There is no form to fill out or slip to return, just turn up on the day! Presentaon informaon will be available on our website later in case you are unable to a(end. To keep numbers manageable we ask that only one adult per family a(ends. We would also appreciate it, where possible, parents can avoid bringing younger siblings as we are unable to provide a crèche in this case. We look forward to seeing you. Today our Y3 children are enjoying an delivered by Victrix, a company delivering history- themed days in schools across Essex and the South East. They are having a wonderful day learning all about Greek myths & legends including interacve storytelling. On Friday 14th September Y5 children will be vising as part of their Tudor topic this term. Throughout the day the children will experience tasks and acvies with Historic re-enactors to bring the topic to life and children are asked to wear Tudor costume for the day. Please see separate le(er sent out this week for more informaon. Again this year we are delighted to be able to offer free commencing next week. Separate KS1 and KS2 le(ers were sent out yesterday detailing the clubs available together with a slip to be completed if you would like a place for your child. Completed slips must be returned by 12 noon tomorrow, Friday 7th September and you will be nofied by text message sent out no later than Monday evening advising whether or not your child has a place. This half term will be on Tuesday mornings for Recepon children and Tuesday aEernoons for Poplar class. This acvity begins on 11th September and will finish on 16th October. It will be the turn of Y4 to take part in this term commencing on 21st September and finishing on 14th December. A separate le(er will be sent out to Chestnut & Cedar shortly. We have organised our annual event at Chelmsford Sports & Athlecs Centre on the aEernoon of Thursday 27th September to raise money for Cancer Research. We will be taking the children from Y1 to Y6 to the stadium and you are warmly invited to come along and give your support. More informaon will follow shortly. will start back on Monday 17th September and will connue to be on Monday aEernoons at 1.45 to 3.00 pm in the Family Rooms. New toddlers with the parent/carer are always welcome. Finally, please can you make sure you update the school office with any changes to your ie. mobile numbers/emails and emergency contacts.

Dear Parents

Welcome back to an exci�ng term and year ahead at
