    100-Man Project Announces

Reading ContestThe 100-Man Project, a non-denominational, non-profit, Libertyarea mens service organization, hasannounced its second project, areading contest to promote readingat Liberty Elementary. The groupsfirst project, of course, is CARS(Community Area Ride Service),which provides transportation formedical or emotional needs to Lib-erty area residents. The group pur-chased a handicapped accessible van, which you can see parkedat Libertys Bargain Box, and has drivers available every busi-ness day of the month to take residents to hospitals from Salis-

bury to Durham. Now the group has taken on another project inan attempt to encourage Liberty Elementary students to readmore. The 100-Man Project is sponsoring a pizza party for each classwithin its grade level that reads the most books between Janu-ary 3 and May 2, 2011. This means six pizza parties, one eachfor kindergarten through the fifth grade. Letters will go out toparents of Liberty Elementary students later in the month ex-plaining the contest. In addition to the Battle of the Books atLiberty Elementary, the 100-Man Project has come up with an-other contest in cooperation with the Liberty Library. Duringthe same period, any Liberty Elementary student, K-5, whochecks out a book or books at the library, will be entered in adrawing for a $100 Walmart gift card. Second and third prizes

will be $50 and $25 gift cards respectively. Any student whovisits Libertys new Nature Research Library during this periodwill also be entered in the contest. The more times studentscheck out books, the more chances they will have to win a giftcard. The Liberty Leader will have more information on thesecontests in its January issue. In the meantime, if you are inter-ested in learning more about the100-Man Project, CARS or theLiberty Elementary Reading con-tests, you may call Warren Dixon,622-2731(Reading Contest), TomMeachum, 622-1998 or Gary Davis,622-3835 (100-Man Project in gen-eral), and Terry Stutts, 622-3451

Christmas Shopping in Liberty"When are you taking us Christmas shopping, Mom?""When are we going to Walmart?" My response was that I

wanted to take them when we had time to shop. I did notwant my kids rushing into the box stores, being so over-whelmed with the materialism of Christmas and picking outgeneric gifts that they had not put any thought into. Thechildren's conversation continued. "What if we had to do allof our Christmas shopping without even going to Walmart...or the mall? The next question was presented as more of achallenge. " What if we had to do all of our shopping in Lib-erty?????" "NO, that would be impossible!!!" ....But wouldit? If we really put some time and thought into it, could wedo our all of our Christmas shopping in Liberty? It mighttake a little more creativity, a little more thought, but that iswhat makes gift giving special...finding that perfect gift forthat special someone. I'm sure we could find Daddy and

your older brother something at the Hardware store. Wecould find something special for Grandma at The ShadowBox Antique shop. I'm sure there is something just right, youcould find for me and your sister in town. Awesome Findshas unique gifts. Carolyn's always has a nice selection ofaccessories. There is a new Liberty Artisan and Craft Gallerythat just opened. It has a wide selection of gifts made bylocal NC artist. Masten's Music offers music lessons.Woosley's Photography is offering art classes. The local flo-rist can provide holiday plants or flower arrangements. GiftCertificates are available at several downtown businesses aswell as restaurants. The local businesses and shop ownerswould be glad to accommodate your shopping needs andprovide friendly customer service as you check the names

off of your holiday list. There are many unique possibilitiesfor the perfect gift right here in Liberty. You just have to puta little thought into your gift giving.Story By Teresa Bruchon

Cold Blistery Night ButTons Of Warm HeartsThe Annual Christmas Tree Lighting was definitely for the

brave hearts due to the frigid cold 29 degree night. Of all the

events that I help do in this great town of ours, I would say

the tree lighting is my most fun event of all to plan. This years

I had a dynamic team of volunteers that stepped up to the

plate to help me do this year's event. The list is so many I

would be afraid I would miss one, so the gang knows who

they are and I say a sincere THANK YOU. I was over-

whelmed at all their dedication and help they provided. We

had such a great time this night. So much was on hand that

was free. That has been one of the main themes we have keep

throughout the years, FREE. I would like to thank the follow-

I LOST MY HEART TO LIBERTY

My heart was rather rareLooked just like a Teddy Bear.

Was loving, kind and fun to hold,And it wasn't even very old.

Said it was mine and had come to stay. Then all of a sudden just went away!

Please if you see my heart,Would you send it home right away!If at first, you are not sure, that it's

my heart you see.Just ask it, if it remembers

    THE LAMPPOST AND ME!!!!

    MY HEART

The night that you saw my eyesThrough the lamppost light.

    You stole my heart

With much delightIt went with you that cold

January night. So lonely and cold as

That engine roared to life.It rode with you in fright

As that PETER BUILTDrove out of sight!

Now, I've tried with all my mightto forget about that night.

I've tried and tried,To get on with my life.

While you are out thereWith your new life.So much pain with

Nothing to gain.As I sit here once again

And try to pretend. That my heart may

    Someday mend!

    Dear Liberty Leader,

Here is what I would like printed: Hi MerryChristmas & Happy New Year to all, there is

At The WellAt the center of the Village is a deepwell of life-giving water where thetownspeople meet. As they draw watertheir voices blend in the culture, societyand wisdom that they share. Eachmonth meet here at the well to hearthose voices. Unexpected gifts are theones we like the best. Sometimes truthis stranger than fiction. This is one of

those times. I am riding with my sisterand her family to celebrate Christmas Eve at Granna and Pops. Wewill meet the rest of our family there for an evening meal. It is verycold, with a glaze of ice forming on the trees already, but the road isclear. Our drive will take us almost an hour north and west. Theweather is supposed to improve, and we sincerely hope this is thecase. When I join them in their car, I feel tension. Some conversationtips me off that the 14-year-old Hannah, had to do her make-up threetimes, causing us to run late. She was an only child until Rena was

born 3 months ago. It has been a rocky road since then. Rena wasplanned so that Hannah would have a sister to share life with, nowand forever. Hannah has little to do with Rena and sees her as theproblem that rocks the boat of their whole life. What else can gowrong? the father and driver, Randy, asks no one in particular. Thefuel light is on, which means we have a half gallon of gas in the tank.I planned to fill up on the way and was distracted when we ran late.I think we can make it. No need to turn back now, we will stop onthe way home. Crisis averted for now, I speak of todays plan tocook the meal together after we gather. Instead of giving gifts, wewill create memories. I think its stupid, quips the teenager, Iwont get any gifts at all. She pouts and stares out of the window atthe trees holding even more ice as we travel north. I hate the old, drafty house at Granna and Pops, with those old fashioned long, square sofas she continues, in her mood. Are we sliding? two ofus ask at the same time. Yes, its black ice, confirms Randy, addingBut were almost there now. Minutes later we arrive. We hurryinto the house with our raw foods on this raw day. Only Granna andPop are there, waiting for us. No others have arrived. Some of theothers have called and say to start cooking the meal and theyd come

a little later if the weather gets better reported Pop. Glad youmade it here safely, the weathers getting really rough now.Granna had put small hens in the oven to bake and they were abouthalf done. This would give us perhaps an hour to cook the rest of themeal. It was just turning dark outside, earlier now on these shortdays. Suddenly, the whole house goes dark. Did we trip a

breaker? Mom calls to Dad through the semi-darkness, while therest of us are shocked into silence. He goes feeling for the flashlight. We hear a click, click and dark remains. The batteries must bedead he mumbles. Where are more batteries? asks a voice in thedark. I meant to buy some, which tells us there arent any. Do westill have the lamp from Great Grandma? Maybe in the garage. We hear folks speaking and can only see outlines of them now. Thelamp is found, but the globe is smoky and dusty. The oil is thick

with yellow clumps in it. The wick crank is rusty and stuck solid. The wick is lit and burns away where it is out of the oil finally hittinga steady flame. Granna picks up the phone to call the neighbor. The phone isnt working either, she laments. Is it a wirelessphone? I ask. Yes, why she answers. Because only phones withcords work when the power is out, I say. We threw that old phoneout, I thought it was outdated. I can use my cell Hannah joins in.There are no towers near here. Remember, thats why wedont have cell phones says Pop. This is beginning to feel, not like Christmas Eve, but like some bad dream. We soonfind that the power outage is wide spread when we go outsideand look toward the neighbor a quarter mile away. We alsonote the heaviness of the ice on the trees and that the roads areimpassable now. It would be extremely unsafe to travel. It

looks as if we are on our own. With the original windows inthe old farmhouse, it truly is cold and drafty and has begun tosend us to find our coats. Hannah has worn a top with spa-ghetti straps. Get your coat, why would you dress likesummertime? her mother asks a double question when sherealizes what Hannah has worn. Everybody wears this, itscool Hannah answers and I did not bring a coat since I wasgoing to the warm car and riding to a warm house. I didntplan to be cold. Lets go run the car engine and turn the heaton high. Great idea from the make up queen, remember wehave no gas in the car? We will find a blanket I say, toavert more tension between them. Granna finds all the non-cotton clothes that she can find. Fleece, wool and polyesterclothing is warmer than cotton. We soon look like the Salva-tion Army sitting around the table wearing our new clothesand blankets. We eat only the vegetable tray and fruit salad

because they are the things that did not need cooking. Granna

adds some cheese and crackers that she finds and prepares in thedark. She put the half-baked hens outside on the screened porch tofreeze. There is no water, because the well pump is electric, so itsgood we brought tea. Hope the power comes back on soon, some-one says in the lamplight. Its really not so bad says Hannah, look-ing as if she is playing military dress up with wool. I think it is kindof fun. This is the most positive thing to come out of her mouth in along time. Rena begins to cry, not enjoying her bottle since it is cold.Hannah reaches for Rena and cradles her close inside the big army

jacket to keep them both warm. The adults would have rolled eyesat each other if they could see each others eyes. This was a first. With dinner done, Pop did what had been done once when he was

a boy. He dragged the mattress into the big mostly empty livingroom, flipped those long, old, square sofas onto their faces, made thewhole thing comfortable with the big couch cushions and coveredthe whole thing with one of those plastic table covers to keep the

body heat inside the structure. We all watched and helped when heinstructed us as to what he needed help with. Come get in hefinally spoke, after his masterpiece was finished. It will be verywarm and comfortable. We all had room inside, thanks to those bigsofas, and settled in to keep warm. It was one of those times when it

just feels so good that nobody talks. It didnt matter whether youreyes were open or closed. It looked the same. In the silence, Rena

began to whimper, and then the most astounding thing happened. In the dark and cold of this Christmas Eve, a voice began to sing.Hannah, in the most-lovely high soprano voice, began to sing Away

in a Manger to her baby sister. It was so crystal and unworldly, there in the dark, that it sounded angelic. We were transported toanother cold, dark Christmas night in an unlikely stable where an-other teen mother, awkwardly held her baby boy and sang to soothehim. Rena fell asleep in Hannahs arms. Granna was sniffling, and Ihad tears freely flowing. This unlikely girl, receiving the gift that thiswhole evening had brought, and sharing it with us. We had notheard her voice, except for complaint, in a very long time. This is hergift to us this Christmas. It is unforgettable. Early the next morning,Hannah sees light through a crack in their igloo. It is the ChristmasStar she exclaims, jolting us all awake. The sky has completelycleared. Could this be the Christmas Star? They crawl out into thecold, then go out onto the porch. Truly, there is a bright object in thesky. Realizing it is Christmas Day, whether a star or planet it be-

comes THEIR Christmas star. In the pasture are Granna and Popshorse and two goats. They stand eating hay from the feeder. Theyalso are proclaimed to be special Christmas gifts, looking like thestable, animals and manger of the Christ Child. It is a winter won-derland of ice and has never been more beautiful. We all agree thatthis is the best Christmas EVER! It is the Christmas story that we willtell again and again. Just then, the power is restored and Grannawants help to make a much needed, hot breakfast. The house beginsto heat from the cooking and the baseboards. At the breakfast table, conversation turns to what impacted each of us most. Hannah saysshe got everything she wanted, and realized that she didnt evenneed fancy clothes, make up or a cell phone to be truly happy. Theadults agree that every home needs, candles, matches, flashlights(working) with extra batteries, water (for when the pump doesnt

work), a phone with a cord, MREs (Meals Ready to Eat),a workingand clean oil lamp, Kerosene heater (perhaps with a cook top), plentyof fleece and wool clothes and blankets AND some big, old, squaresofas to make a warm igloo. Remember a vehicle empty of gas is likehaving no vehicle. Wouldnt hurt to keep a coat inside the car aswell adds Hannah! Merry Christmas, everybody! Hope you haveelectricity at Christmas and hope you can do without it just fine ifyou dont.

The Living Christmas TreeI had the pleasure of attending the Living Christmas Tree that

was put on by the members of First Christian Church in Ram-

seur. All I can say is I can not believe I have missed out on

such a great Christmas tradition. This production has been

going on for years and each year is a different message. The

construction on the set began back in October and the center

of the sanctuary is riser that is cover is so many lights that the

Griswold family from Christmas Vacation Movie would bejealous. The lights moved to the sounds of the glorious music

and songs preformed by the congregation that filled the risers

of the tree. On each side of the stage was a scene from years

gone by and on the other side a current dwelling place of the

family. The theme of the play was the legend of the Candy

Cane, but through the story lines and wonderfully

picked songs, the true meaning was given out. The

reason for the season is Christ, the greatest gift that

could ever be given to us. I can not wait to see next

years Living Christmas Tree. Best of all, this is a free

production. The members of First Christian Church istruly allowing themselves to be used by God. Giving

up hours of their time to give the meaning of Gods

Salvation to others. They even do a similar production

at Easter. Make a point to keep your eyes open for this

great event in the future. You still have time to see this

production. Call the church at 824-4066 and they still

    have Dec 10,11,12,13,and 14.

I hope this helps us all to remember thatJesus Christ isthe onlytrue"reason for the season".Christmas Love

Each December, I vowed to make Christmas a calm and peacefulexperience. I had cut back on nonessential obligations - extensivecard writing, endless baking, decorating, and even overspending.Yet still, I found myself exhausted, unable to appreciate the pre-cious family moments, and of course, the true meaning ofChristmas. My son, Nicholas, was in kindergarten that year. It

was an exciting season for a six year old. For weeks, he'd beenmemorizing songs for his school's "Winter Pageant." I didn't havethe heart to tell him I'd be working the night of the production.Unwilling to miss his shining moment, I spoke with his teacher. She assured me there would be a dress rehearsal the morning ofthe presentation. All parents unable to attend that evening werewelcome to come then. Fortunately, Nicholas seemed happy withthe compromise. So, the morning of the dress rehearsal, I filed in10 minutes early, found a spot on the cafeteria floor and satdown. Around the room, I saw several other parents quietlyscampering to their seats. As I waited, the students were led intothe room. Each class, accompanied by their teacher, sat cross-legged on the floor. Then, each group, one by one, rose to per-

form their song. Because the public school system had longstopped referring to the holiday as "Christmas", I didn't expectanything other than fun, commercial entertainment - songs ofreindeer, Santa Claus, snowflakes and good cheer. So, when myson's class rose to sing, "Christmas Love", I was slightly takenaback by its bold title. Nicholas was aglow, as were all of hisclassmates, adorned in fuzzy mittens, red sweaters, and brightsnowcaps upon their heads. Those in the front row - center stage- held up large letters, one by one, to spell out the title of thesong. As the class would sing "C is for Christmas", a child wouldhold up the letter C. Then, "H is for Happy", and on and on, untileach child holding up his portion had presented the completemessage, "Christmas Love". The performance was goingsmoothly, until suddenly, we noticed her - a small, quiet, girl inthe front row holding the letter "M" upside down - totally un-aware her letter "M" appeared as a "W". Fidgeting from side toside, she soon moved entirely away from her mark. The audienceof 1st through 6th graders snickered at this little one's mistake. But she had no idea they were laughing at her, so she stood tall, proudly holding her "W". Although many teachers tried to shushthe children, the laughter continued until the last letter wasraised, and we all saw it together. A hush came over the audienceand eyes began to widen. In that instant, we understood - thereason we were there, why we celebrated the holiday in the firstplace, why even in the chaos, there was a purpose for our festivi-

ties. For when the last letter was held high, the message readloud and clear: CHRIST WAS LOVE. And, I believe, He still is.By Candy Chand

The Reason For The SeasonAs we near the time of Christmas, we see the decorations going up. the peoplemadly shopping for gifts. the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season. Now isthe time to stop and reflect just why we really celebrate this time. As Christians,we are the only ones who know the real meaning of Christmas and why it is atime of celebration and what that celebration means to all who will believe. Ifthere were no Jesus, there would be no Christmas. As you see the many slogans being pandered around you, take time every day toexplain the real meaning of what is being said.... "Peace on earth, good will to

men"... "Joy to the world"... "Hark, the herald Angels sing"... "'round yon virgin, mother and Child". Think about what each of these things means to you as aborn again believer, then share them with others - especially with others whodon't know Jesus or understand his incredible, eternal, unconditional love for usall. As you prepare your gift list, be sure to make the first gift for everyone onyour list the free gift ofthe Gospel of Jesus Christ. As you ponder on theOne who is the Reason forthe Season, make surethat you know who He is- that He is God (not "A"god or "one of the" gods).

Just as He identified Him-self to Moses in Exodus3:14 as "I AM", He identi-fied Himself to the Jewsin John 8:58 again as "IAM". Why is it importantto know who He is? Jesussaid, "If you do not be-lieve that I am the one Iclaim to be, you will in-deed die in your sins."(John 8:24b NIV).

Over the next few weeks, remember WHO Jesus is,and remind everyone yousee of the Reason for theSeason."I am the way and thetruth and the life. No onecomes to the Father exceptthrough me." John 14:6NIV

Pregnant Turkey*This is priceless -I would love to do this.*One year at Thanksgiving, my mom went to mySister's' house for the traditional feast. KnowingHow gullible my sister is, my mom decided toPlay a trick. She told my sister that she neededSomething from the store. When my sister left, my mom took the turkey out ofThe oven, removed the stuffing, stuffed a Cornish hen,And inserted it into the turkey, and re-stuffed theTurkey. She then placed the bird(s) back in the oven. When it was time for dinner, my sister pulled the

Turkey out of the oven and proceeded to remove theStuffing. When her serving spoon hit something,She reached in and pulled out the little bird. With a look of total shock on her face, my motherExclaimed, "Patricia, you've cooked a pregnantBird!" At the reality of this horrifying news,My sister started to cry.It took the family two hours to convince her thatTurkeys lay eggs!Yep..................SHE'S BLONDE!

Rachel's CryA cry in pain... a cry for help...a cry for joy....The Rachels Cry ministry was born out of a desire tohelp women and men get past the pain of abortion andmiscarriage. It was my experience that only the grace ofGod could heal the brokenness and devastation that wasleft behind after the loss of my baby. Each story is different

but the common thread is the samewe have lost some-thing precious. Rachels Cry offers a place in the presence ofGod, where you can come and be made whole again. Thisministry will allow you to begin the healing process, con-tinue to travel through the process and finally come

through to the end of healing for yourself and for the lossyou have suffered. Where there has been unforgiveness, shame, grief, guilt and low or no self-worth, there shall beforgiveness, peace joy and a strong knowing of who youwere created to be in Gods eyes. I hope you will accept thisinvitation to come and be made whole. You can contactthem at For more information or literature on this ministry, please call or write to:

WHY CHRISTMAS?It seems that the current way Americans celebrateChristmas has become a bad thing lately Pastors &Preachers, who love to steal sermon ideas from eachother more than most people realize, have made it so-cially acceptable to bash on Christmas in recent decades. Its to the point that many God-fearing, Bible-believingChristians have become like the infamous Scroogecharacter in the Dickens classic in regards to Christmas. Some of us are beginning to say: Why Christmas?Whats the point? I think Ill just sit this one out!Well, to those considering taking that ap-proach, I have a series of questionsfor you: 1) Since people abuseFOOD around theworld, are yougoing to

    quiteating? 2)

    Since peopleabuse LOVE around the

world, are you going to stoploving? 3) Since people abuse

MONEY around the world, are you going tostop spending? The answer most logical people wouldreply is NO! Just because something has been abused, doesnt mean I have to stop doing it. Well then, thesame should be true of Christmas. So how should we approach Christmas? Here are somesimple suggestions from a simple guy: 1) Keep theMAIN thing the main thing: Luke 10:41-42 reveals: (Je-sus) said My dear Martha, you are worried and upset overall these details! There is only one thing worth being con-cerned about. QUESTION: Whats Christmas reallyabout? TWO THINGS: A) Christmas is about us express-ing our love to God for sending Jesus to save us. Gala-tians 4:4-6 says: when the right time came, God sent hisSon to buy freedom for so that he could adopt us as hisvery own children. WOW!!! Even after 40 years of hear-ing that, it still blows me away! We celebrate Christmas because suchamazing love requires an amazing response.B) Christmas is about us expressing our love for God toothers. 1 John 4:11 says: since God loved us that much, wesurely ought to love each other. However, most of us are

selfish or ignorant when it comes to expressing love toothers. FIVE ways we receive love: QUALITY TIME ->ACTS OF SERVICE -> WORDS OF ENCOURAGE-MENT -> PHYSICAL TOUCH -> GIFTS. Normally,TWO of those work on us. TRUTH: 80% of us wont feelloved by traditional Christmas gifts. Most of us are like aHusband I know who clulessly spends thousands ofdollars on GIFTS for his wife when all she wants isQUALITY TIME.2) Keep in mind the BIG PICTURE : Did you know that

the average person had $15,800 in Credit Card Debt in2010? Whats worse is TWO MILLION PEOPLE arestill paying of Christmas debt today from 2009! Is that

what Jesus meant when He said in Acts 20:35: It ismore blessed to give than to receive? It reminds me ofthis TRUTH: It is a disgrace to the name of Jesus touse His birthday as an excuse to sin. I hear all thetime: But its CHRISTMAS, Randy I had to buy my babies something! Ill pay it offeventually! RE-MEMBER: Proverbs 22:7 says: the borrower is a slave tothe lender. WOW whoever we owe money is ourMaster! Far too many of us have allowed the devil todeceive us into being enslaved to debt in the name ofChristmas. We need to keep big picture in mind.Whats the BIG PICTURE? Matthew 6:33 says: Seek

the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, andhe will give you everything you need. Before we spend

ourselves into slavery we need to ask a couple questions. QUESTION #1: Is this gift going to bless God& my family in 2011? Will I be glad I purchased it inApril? QUESTION #2: Is this gift going to keep mefrom giving to God? Just a thought: robbing Jesus ofHis gifts on His birthday REALLY? For Christmasto be a blessing for us, we need to keep in mind thebig picture.

    3) Keep your WORSHIP on: Iknow what youre thinking: Idont have time to go tochurch Ive got to dothis help here servethere! GUESS WHAT?

When you think like that, youre giving the devil a Christmas

gift! Matthew 4:10 reveals something im-portant: Get out of here, Satan, Jesus told him

You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him. Jesus is showing you how the devil plans on attackingyou & your family this Christmas. He wants to get us

serving without worship WHY? To defeat us! You see,we are to serve God by serving others but to beblessed we have to get the order right! Back to Matthew4:10 Its worship THEN serveothers! Did you know thatWORSHIP is the foundation of Christmas? Matthew 2:11shows: (The wise men) entered the house & saw the childwith his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshipedhim. You see, we cant celebrate Christmas right with-out worship! TRUTH: You will have to do less thisChristmas in order to worship more. You will have tomake one less batch of cookies take one less trip tofamily you dont know purchase one less gift inorder to keep your worship of God on.

So there you have it Christmas is still worth the trou-ble because Jesus is worth it. Ill be praying that you andyours celebrate Christmas in such a way that you areblessed beyond your wildest dreams.

You may remember one of our guest writers that was a younggentleman by the name of Jonathan Branch. Well he as been busyattending UNC-Chapel Hill, but still to visit Liberty. He knew I was in the

parade and was gracious enough to take the pictures of the parade. Which was agreat gift for me. So Thanks Jonathan Branch for keeping Liberty in your heart.

Snow!! Perfect Backdrop For ParadeWow is all I can say. I believe from what I have heard from most, this was the firsttime it has snowed during a Liberty Parade. It was so cool to see this white flufffalling as the parade made its way down the street. Yes it was cold and several ofthe entries did not show due to weather, but we still had a great parade. The spec-tators did not let the white stuff stop them. I believe everyone left the parade andhit the grocery store after wards. Do not know what chemical is in snow that trig-gers our minds to head to grocery store to buy milk, eggs and bread, but the park-ing lot was full. I posted several picks to my facebook, so check them out, you cansee a few in the paper. Having the Randolph County Brass band on a trailer playing was so uniquetouch. Several asked about our local high school bands. Well both bands had a conflict of some shortsand really hated not being here. Providence Grove HS band directors is a husband and wife team andshe was due any day, so I give them a great excuse. Randleman High School agreed to fill our gap bystepping in at last moment. This year had some very unique entiries. I think this is what make a smalltown so great, seeing all your friends at a local parade. I put an entry in the parade and my daughterand two of her best friends dressed up as elves. I do not know what I enjoyed more, the decorating ofthe car with my daughter, to listening to all the laughter from my daugther and her friends in the backseat, or seeing all the friends as I drove down the street. Regardless of which was the best, is the fact Ihad and awesome time. See you at the next great event. This years first place float went to Church OfGod Of Prophecy, second place went to Pleasant Hill Christian Church and third place went to theGirl Scout Troop. This is what makes a home parade so great, seeing all the home madefloats. This year as in years past, Celebrate Libertys Children presentedbooks to all the children in the parade. This year they went out with1,000 books. Several kids now look to get them a new book each year.See you at the next great Liberty Event. You know theres somethingabout Liberty.... I think it is the people...what do you think?

He came so quietly, and yet,all of the world the good news would get.The angels announced the awesome news,

so all could hear in spite of the worlds views. In the womb of the Virgin Mary,

the treasure of all time, she would carry. All of heaven would watch from above,

to see how mankind would receive Gods love.

In a stable, a manger for his bed laid theking for all to see, the angels said.Shepherds with their sheep to mind, left all their labor this babe to find.

Those who came bowed in reverent awe,and rejoiced with gladness at what they saw.A king, a son, a savior, yes and much more,to all people in the world he came to die for.

The star shone in all its glory,to tell the world the wonderful story.

Wise men would come following the star withgold, frankincense, and myrrh from afar.

CHRISTmas not Xmas"...But the angel said to them, Do not beafraid; for behold, I bring you good newsof a great joy which will come to all thepeople. For to you is born this day in thetown of David a Saviour, Who is Christ(the Messiah) the Lord!..."- Luke 2: 10-11

So often these days we see Christmas with theChrist taken out and replaced with an X. Itsalmost as if its a nameless celebration. We asChristians know how far from the truth that is.We read here of angels appearing to the shep-herds and declaring the birth of Jesus Son ofDavid who is the Christ (the Messiah). It is inno way a nameless event but a wonderfulcelebration of the greatest event the birth ofChrist, and the reconciliation to God He broughtto us all.

So lets keep the Christ in Christmas.

Christmas must always start with ChristFor He has saved us and changed our lives
