Welcome to the Soul Inspired Bible Study ‐ Living a Joy‐Filled Life.

This is a go‐at‐your‐own‐pace study, which incorporates lots of opportuni es to worship and study through crea vity. Perfect for a take‐a‐long study or when a mul ‐week study just doesn’t fit your schedule.

You will find four study sec ons, each based on a scripture teaching about joy; each including space to be crea ve, journal your prayers and dive deeper with Verse Mapping. I encourage you to join me in commi ng each of these four scriptures to memory so we can carry God’s Word in our hearts.

But first, we will look at the source of true joy and explore our favor‐ite Bible Study tool, verse mapping. Also included are color pages, Bible journaling templates and blank pages to let your soul be inspired.

Scripture memoriza on is key to storing God’s Word in our hearts and building up our God‐confidence, so there is a set of JOY related scripture cards to copy, clip and carry.

First, know that there is NOT a wrong way to do this. The purpose of the exercise is to wring every li le bit of meaning and applica on out of a scripture. Second, while the wri ng por on of verse mapping is focused on a single, or small selec on of scripture, know that the study process goes well beyond a single scripture reference. 1. Read the verse. 2. Write out the verse. (in the box, leave plenty of space around it,

between the lines and between the words.) 3. Personalize it: replace words like “you”, “we”, “us”, “them” with

your name, where applicable

4. Mark, circle, underline, highlight words and phrases that stand out to you.

Any words make you want to dig deeper? Look up and define any words that need clarifica on.

6. Read the verse in context: read the preceding and following vers‐es or whole chapter. See how it es in to the verses before and a er it.

7. Read the verse in other transla ons: note which words or phrases help you understand or apply the verse.

8. Cross‐reference the verse: find, list and read other verses which speak about the same topic.
