GE Smith, soulful guitarist, composer, singer, and bandleader,was just about born with a guitar in his hand, beginning his career on the bar-band scene as a teenager and getting hisfirst break as guitarist for Dan Hartman in 1977. Subsequenthigh-profile gigs included a stint as lead guitarist for Hall &Oates (1979–1985), playing in the house band for Live Aid andFarm Aid benefit concerts, and collaborating on performancesand studio sessions with such artists as Mick Jagger, DavidBowie, and Peter Wolfe. In 1985, GE embarked on a 10-yearstretch as the musical director for the iconic Saturday NightLive TV show, becoming a cultural touchstone as frontman forthe show’s band and working with legions of rock stars andstellar musicians. Over the course of his extensive career, GEhas played with an impressive spectrum of artists, from RedButtons to Allen Ginsberg, from Desmond Child to Bob Dylan,and all points in between. GE’s most recent endeavors includetouring with Roger Waters and appearing on SNL’s 40th anniversary special. As the parent of a Ross School student,he is honored to be headlining the Twelfth Annual Live @ClubStarlight.

Steven J. Ross Scholarship FundThe Steven J. Ross Sholarship Fund enables children from varied socioeconomic backgrounds to receive an exceptionalRoss education. Ross School has been committed to the community of Eastern Long Island since the School’s inceptionin 1991, and the success of its need-based scholarship programspeaks for itself. Ross School awarded over $3 million in financialassistance for the 2014–2015 academic year, enabling more than125 local children from the East End (approximately one-quarterof Ross’s student population) to attend the School.
