Everybody’s Talking!Batman fan: To say Kevin Silva is a fan of Batman is an under-statement. The American man from Indianapolis, Indiana has been hooked on all things Batman since he was fi ve years- old and now has 1,600 pieces of memorabilia. He keeps his collection in his bat cave, otherwise known as his basement. He has a lunchbox he carried when he was in kindergarten, a Gotham City phone book and a red bat phone. Silva claims his stuff is worth six fi gures, but doesn’t plan to sell it. His adult children are also collectors and have amassed an assortment of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia, as well as items from the rock band Kiss.
Grounds keepers: A pair of goats, named Whipper and Snap-per, enjoy an endless supply of fresh greens at the Settlers’ Ghost Golf Course near the Canadian city of Barrie, Ontario. While munching on the grass, the goats are keeping the course nice and trim for the golfers. Chris Gulliver, the course superintendent, says the goats are quite happy to be eating their way around the course, chewing the fl owers off the weeds fi rst, then chowing down on the rest of the plant. This environmentally- friendly way of maintaining the golf course is helping to minimize the amount of pesticide and herbicide the course uses. The two goats cost the equivalent of one carton of chemicals.
Long signature: It would take Dawn McManus of Hartlepool, England a long time to sign a document with her new, full name. After all, she has 161 words in her name. McManus has legally changed her name to become 'Red Dreams.' However, in between that fi rst and last name are 159 other names that represent the people that her charity (also called Red Dreams) has helped since it was established following the death of her son. The charity assists young people pursue careers in acting, singing or fi lm-making. Dreams explains that she changed her name to help raise money for the charity.
Popping a pizza: A Dutch company is setting up shop in Atlanta, Georgia and intends to bring vending machine pizza to towns and cities across the United States. The company, Let’s Pizza, has perfected the art of making pizzas in a vending machine. The steaming hot pizza is ready in under three minutes. Let’s Pizza owner Ronald Rammers explains that the machine, invented by Italian Claudio Torghe, automatically mixes the fl our and water to make and shape the crust. It then squirts organic tomato sauce from a tube, adds toppings and bakes it. Marketing information says the pizza is totally hygienic because no one ever touches it during preparation.
