BLUE SUNDAY is a faith-based initiative to lead the community in awareness of children who are abused or neglected and the need for foster parents. Did you know:
− 4,424 Lorain County children were reportedas abused or neglected in 2017.
− Our community’s children are mostly affectedby neglect (1027) then physical abuse (937).
− Most children can be protected safely at homewith the right community supports andresources.
− If children cannot stay at home, relatives aresought out so the child can stay with familiarpeople.
− If relatives aren’t available to care for a child, the child can stay with a local foster familytrained and licensed through Lorain CountyChildren Services.
− F o r m o r e i n f o r m a t i o n v i s i tChidrenServices.org/FaithCommunity.
BLESSINGS FOR BABIES: The Baby Bottle Campaign for Birthright of Lorain County is from April 21st to April 29th. Please drop off your bottles this weekend, April 28/29. All donations will help Birthright, an all-volunteer, pro-life pregnancy support service that has served Lorain County since 1973. All services are free and confidential. They provide pregnancy tests, help with social services in the community, formula, diapers, baby food, maternity clothes, and clothing for infants and children. Thank you for being Christ for others through Birthright.
LITUGICAL MINISTERS: Special Requests for the June - August scheduling period need to be turned in by Monday, May 7th. Forms can be found in the St. Joseph’s room or on-line.
SPOTLIGHT MINISTRY: This weekend the Knight’s of Columbus will be featured in the Gathering Area after all masses.
Please stop by their table and see what their organization is all about.
Pastors Corner: This weekend we welcome to the Eucharistic Table for the first time the following children: Alexander Cleary Brendan Cleary Brooke Cleary Ryder DiFranco William Dunlap Dylan Frawley Lilyanne Greller Ryan Howell Sean Howell Jacob Kobylarz Alexis Kramer Nora Lundberg
Molly Ockuly Delaney Reed Blake Rybicki Hunter Slee Please keep these children in your prayers on this special day. I wish to thank the teachers of our 2nd graders, Kathy Sampson, Sally Bansek, Mandy Bansek and Jeanne Johnson as well the Pre-School and 1st grade teachers for helping to prepare these children. Parents and family have played a crucial role in nurturing the seed that was planted at baptism. At baptism, parents made a commitment to raising their child in the faith. A child’s 1st Communion is a major part of this commitment but it does not fulfil a parents responsibilities as this is just the beginning of their faith journey. With the support of the parish community we help each other to live out that parental responsibility. Our baptismal commitment to follow Jesus requires constant growth in our knowledge of God’s ways and learning to incorporate God’s ways in our daily lives. The Eucharist, as Food for the Journey, nurtures, sustains and directs our lives on this faith journey. May we, parents and the larger community, be a witness to our 1st communicants of the desire and the necessity of coming to the Eucharist Table weekly.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS NEEDED: Our Ministry of Care is in need of additional Eucharistic Ministers to take communion to the homebound and nursing homes. In bringing communion to those who are not able to participate with the community at Mass you are not only bringing the grace of the sacrament but the reassurance that the person being visited is not forgotten. This could be a monthly or a weekly commitment depending on your availability. If interested please call the parish office or talk to Fr. John. TRAINING FOR NEW EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS: We are in need of additional Eucharistic Ministers. To be certified as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion one needs to attend a diocesan training session followed by a practical training session at the parish. The Spring training schedule has been set and the closest one to us is at St Agnes in Elyria on Sunday, May 27th from 2:00-4:30pm. Other sessions are listed on our website at: https://olqpgrafton.org/eucharistic-ministers. If you are interested in becoming a Eucharistic Minister please contact Fr. John to register.

That is 91.10% of our overall goal! Your financial support will make a lasting difference in transforming the live of another, bringing help and hope to the poor and forgotten. STEWARDSHIP CORNER: When we were baptized, we were given the gift of a personal vocation to follow Jesus Christ and to accept the commitments and responsibilities this vocation entails. By seeing ourselves as disciples of Jesus Christ and stewards of the gifts given to us, we are called to recognize and use our God-given talents and resources as we go forth in mission. Becoming a disciple leads to the practice of stewardship that has its beginning in Baptism, deepens with the gift of the Holy Spirit at Confirmation and is nurtured by the Eucharist. In what ways are you practicing stewardship in your daily life? GLFF NEWS: Our next Family Mass will be May 13th at 11:00am. We invite and need families to participate in the various Mass ministries. Embrace this rewarding opportunity to appreciate the Mass more by actively being involved. Please go to the parish homepage at http://olqpgrafton.org/ and select the "Family Mass Sign-Up" link. All parish families are welcome to signup. GLFF classes will resume on Sunday, September 9th. FAMILY PROMISE: We will be welcoming families into our church for the week of 5/20, from the Family Promise program. We would love to see volunteers from previous weeks as well as new volunteers.
